Ashley's eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness from the lack of light in the room. Seeing the familiar figure in front of her, her erratic mood calmed.
The man took his hand away from her mouth. "Simon?" The man smiled. "You scared me." He rubbed the back of his neck with an awkward look. "Sorry. I just got out of a surgery, and I wanted to surprise you."
The young woman, although slightly annoyed, gave a tender smile. "Well, you did surprise me. I didn't see you when I came in."
"Yeah." He chuckled and then neared her before cupping her face in his hands. "I missed you, Ash. You don't know how happy I am that you're here." He stared deeply into her grey eyes, the happiness in his gaze unconcealed.
