Chapter 1 - The Naming Ceremony

The night sky was full of stars, and the full moon illuminated a small village. A loud scream echoed from one of the houses.

She was not being tortured but was giving birth to her child. "Keep going, I can see his head," urged the midwife.

"I can't, I don't have the strength," cried the woman.

"You can do it, just a little more," said her husband, holding her hand.

Waaahhh!

The child was finally born, with blond hair and blue eyes like the sky, and white skin resembling an angel. "A beautiful and healthy boy," announced the midwife, handing the baby to the mother.

The woman hugged the baby. "Look, dear, how beautiful our baby is," she said, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"I see it. He's not just beautiful, he's an angel, our little angel," the man said, climbing onto the bed and hugging his wife, trying to hold back his own tears.

"I nearly forgot, children, come meet your little brother," the man called out.

The door burst open, and three children, two girls and a boy, rushed in.

"Where is he? Let us see him," they clamored, climbing onto the bed. "Wow, he's so tiny and cute, don't you think, big brother?" the girls said in unison.

"Yes, he is," the boy replied gently, smiling.

"Now it's time to introduce you to your family," said the man, wiping his eyes to hide his tears.

"These two are your sisters. They are twins, so they sometimes speak together. Don't be surprised," the man said, pointing at the girls, who had brown hair and eyes, and beautiful faces. "You can tell them apart by their hairstyles. Beatrice loves to let her hair loose, while Elizabeth likes to tie her hair up because it gets in her way," he added proudly.

"Wrong, Dad! You got it reversed, as usual," the girls corrected, making a big X with their hands.

"No way, I was sure I got it right this time," the man said, heartbroken. "Anyway, this is your big brother and my first-born son, Thomas," he said, pointing to the boy, who had brown hair, blue eyes, and white skin.

"And this amazing woman holding you is your mother, Celestina," he said, pointing to the beautiful woman with blond hair and blue eyes.

"Finally, I am your big, strong father, Alexander," the man declared, flexing his muscles.

"I think that's enough introductions. It was a hard birth, and she needs rest because tomorrow is the naming ceremony, and we don't want the baby to be late for it," the midwife said sternly to Alexander.

"She's right. It's time to go to bed and let your mother rest," Alexander said, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. "Come on, Father, we don't want to go to bed," said Beatrice, hugging Alexander. "Yes, Father, we want to look at the baby more," added Elizabeth, also hugging Alexander.

"Come on, girls, don't make it hard on your father," Alexander said, nearly giving in to their charm as they looked at him with puppy eyes.

"Let's go, girls. Tomorrow is a long day, so we need to sleep early. We'll have all our lives to watch the baby grow up," said Thomas, pulling his sisters away from Alexander and dragging them out of the room.

"I don't believe such a calm and smart kid is your son. Anyway, I'm going now. See you tomorrow," said the midwife as she collected her things and left the room.

"She really dislikes me, don't you think, Celestina?" Alexander said, scratching the back of his head. Then he looked at the bed to find that she and the baby had fallen asleep. He turned off the light and got into bed, hugging both of them. "I love you so much," Alexander said, kissing Celestina on the head before falling asleep.

"Warmth... I feel warmth... I feel... love," echoed a voice in the silence. It was not Alexander or Celestina; it was the baby, but not his thoughts. The voice belonged to his soul, which had a human shape with no apparent features and seemed very depressed, shrouded in darkness.

The sun rose, and on the day of the naming ceremony, all the villagers gathered in the center of the village to celebrate the baby. It was a beautiful day, with birds singing and butterflies fluttering everywhere.

Celestina sat at the largest table, holding the baby. The village women surrounded her, talking and playing with the baby. "Wow, he's so quiet. When my baby was born, he wouldn't stop crying," said one of the women.

"Yes, he's a very gentle child. He knows I'm tired, so he doesn't want to bother me," Celestina said proudly.

Alexander was with the men of the village, drinking. "I envy you. You have such a beautiful wife and children. Come on, man, you don't have to show off more than this," one of the men said, patting Alexander on the back.

The village children were playing and running everywhere, laughing. "Come on, catch me if you can," shouted Beatrice. A boy caught her and said, "I got you, Beatrice."

"Wrong, I'm Elizabeth," said Beatrice. "Sorry, Elizabeth," the boy apologized. "Come on, let's keep playing," said Beatrice, running off. "Hey, why did you let Beatrice go?" said Elizabeth, who had just arrived. The boy nearly lost his mind in confusion.

"Come on, it's time for the naming ceremony to begin," announced an old man wearing white priestly robes with gold markings and a symbol in the center.

Everyone gathered at the altar. "Here you go, Priest Castellan," said Celestina, handing the baby to the priest.

Alexander and the children stood beside Celestina near the altar, while the rest of the villagers watched from the back, smiling. The priest began the naming ceremony.

Priest Castellan placed the baby on the altar and stretched out his hands. "Oh mighty God of creation, you have blessed us with this beautiful day and many more blessings. May you bless this child with your divine light," Priest Castellan prayed, as a golden aura began to form around him.

"What will you name the child?" asked Priest Castellan, looking at the family.

They looked at each other and nodded in agreement. "He was born beautiful and without deformity, even though I was sick and the doctor said he would be lucky to be born healthy. All my prayers to our God were answered. The light today seems brighter than usual, perhaps a sign of God's love for the child. So, we decided to name him Amadeus," said Celestina, her voice warm and full of emotion.

"Amadeus, that's a wonderful choice, my daughter. You make this grandpa proud," said Priest Castellan, fighting back tears. "Now, let's finish this so we can start celebrating," he added, placing his hands above the baby.

"Dear God, this baby's name is Amadeus. May you shower him with your love and blessings for the rest of his life," Priest Castellan prayed. The golden aura enveloped the baby, entering his body until nothing was left.

"Amadeus, so that's my name," said the soul. The darkness surrounding him began to recede as light started to break through the cracks.

Everyone started clapping and cheering. Priest Castellan came down from the altar and handed Amadeus back to Celestina. "Thank you, Father, for today," said Celestina, looking at Priest Castellan.

"Don't mention it. My job is to spread our God's light and blessings to all his followers," Priest Castellan said, patting Amadeus's head.

The celebration began, with everyone eating, drinking, dancing, laughing, and playing until nightfall. During this time, Amadeus's soul absorbed everything. "They look happy... is this what they call happiness?" said the soul, raising a hand to touch its heart. "I think that I am... happy," said the soul, tears streaming down its featureless face as a smile formed. The darkness that once surrounded him vanished, replaced by a brilliant light
