"Any news from the palace?" I asked one of the maids setting the dinner table. She shook her head, bowed curtly, and left after placing the last dish.
The elaborate spread before me looked appetizing, but I couldn't bring myself to eat. How could I, knowing Atlas was locked up because of me? No one else even knew what was happening.
It had been over a full day. The silence was suffocating. Atlas had told me to trust him, but worry gnawed at me. Vincent was a cunning bastard—he always had something up his sleeve.
I bit my lip, trying to force my mind into action. A solution, a way out—anything. Nothing came.
"You absolute idiot," I muttered, gripping the edge of the table. My gaze flickered to the untouched food, the silver platters reflecting my frustration. My only choice was to approach Kaleb, but he already clearly shown that he didn't want anything to do with me.
