"Oh my goodness… a wedding." Iris muttered, her words barely more than a whisper as the reality of it hit her. Her wide eyes betrayed the sudden weight of it all, and her hands instinctively rose to her chin, as though trying to hold herself together. Her brow furrowed deeply, lost in thought as she probably considered every detail—the pressure of it all clearly sinking in.
"How are we going to pull it off?" she asked, her voice cracking slightly as she turned toward me, the worry in her eyes impossible to ignore.
Of course, she'd fret over this. Iris always worried too much—maybe because I worried too little. It was a delicate balance between us. Like earlier, when she had been furious with me for facing Vincent head-on without a plan. That fire in her, her care for me… even though she hid it well, it stirred something deep inside me that I wasn't prepared for.
