"The delegate from the heavenly clan!" The sams servants voice echoed through the hall as the sound of footsteps soon followed.
'…Calm down Nolan' Nolan chastised himself for being so on edge glancing once more toward his wives in search of comfort.
They say you could tell a lot about a person by the way they walk. Their deposition, Personality and most of all their intentions. The footsteps Nolan heard were deliberate, firm, and unhurried. Whoever approached walked with confidence which gave Nolan the impression of a battle hardened warrior.
Yet when the figure emerged he was surprised. The man was in his late twenties around the same age as Nolan himself with caramel colored skin and wavy black hair held back by a simple band. A silver monocle attached to a long chain rested in one eye giving him a scholarly appearance. There was no trace of the bloodthirsty aura that the rumors of the Heavenly Clan suggested, Instead he carried himself as if he was a scholar with his hands calmly placed behind his back and a face of indifference.
'I guess it is true that all those in the heavenly clan have darker skin' Nolan thought seeing the man's tanned skin tone that was very rare in most place's on the continent.
"King Arden" The delegate's voice was smooth as he surveyed the room with his steps halting before the throne's stairs.
"I am Linus of the heavenly clan" The man named Linus bowed shallowly not even bending his back an inch.
"Welcome" Nolan was slightly bothered that a delegate didn't even show proper respect but he such emotions were useless.
"It's an honer to finally met a member of the heavenly clan" He smiled slightly while scrutinizing Linus who was no doubt doing the same.
"I'm Nolan Arden" Nolan introduced himself despite the delegate already knowing who he was.
"And these are my wives" He gestured toward his side where Eden and Daisy bowed their heads in respect.
"…." As for Victoria she stayed completely still while staring at Linus with a gaze that would make most men shiver.
"You're the one they call the demon of the battle field aren't you" Only Linus didn't even seem bothered as he narrowed his eyes toward the second queen.
"…Yes" Victoria answered simply and Nolan sighed feeling tension filling the air around him.
"I hope the journey wasn't to long" He quickly changed the course of the conversation least his wife antagonize Linus a few seconds after meeting.
"I'm sure none of us are interested in small talk" Linus smiled softly as he reached up and took off his monocle.
"Shall we get to business?" He asked sincerely softly blowing on the glasses and cleaning it with his sleeve.
"…Yes I agree" Nolan took the fake smile off of his replacing it with a serious expression that he wore during meetings.
"You're already aware what the Arden kingdom wants" He didn't beat around the bush and went straight to the topic at hand.
"Protection" Linus responded putting his monocycle back neatly on his right eye once more.
"The heavenly can offer that" The scholarly man nodded while gazing toward the young king above the stairs.
'…' Nolan felt relief hearing the delegates words before he opened his mouth.
"And the price?" Nolan wasn't ignorant enough to think that such a thing would come without a sacrifice.
"My lord has grown sick of the empire's attempted advancements in the southern mountains toward our clan home" Linus spoke as his scholarly turned into something a bit more sinister.
'…' Nolan frowned and saw Victorias hand twitch near here blade.
"So…." Linus didn't seem to notice their reactions as he smiled slightly.
"My lord wishes to engage the empire head on" His voice calm and measured was like the sudden boom of a thunderclap that left the entire room suffocating in silence.
