He reached out, and touched the cube with the tips of his fingers.
However, instead of a panel appearing and giving him options, a piece of information suddenly appeared in his mind, giving him instructions on how to either open or destroy the cube, and their results.
'That's new.' He thought, staring at the slowly rotating cube. 'A very efficient way of giving information to a player.' He mused.
He reached further, grabbing the cube and bringing it up to his face.
'The storage space of a player.' He looked over the cube on all its sides. 'Is this magic, technology, or something else?' The cube fit comfortably in his hand, and he could not tell what it was made of. 'But of course, I don't even know how it's made.'
He held it with one hand, and used the thumb of the same to make an upward gesture, like when one pops the cap off of a bottle.
With the gesture he made, the cube opened up from the middle, and a white glow emerged from it, and Reed could suddenly sense all that was within it.
"Huuu..." He was slightly disoriented, completely taken aback by how he was sensing the inside of a space and the items inside it in great detail, he could sense every little particle of dust, the smallest dent, the lightest fingerprint, on the items.
But he quickly recovered, and he spotted the main reason he had killed the three players for.
A firearm.
He willed it out, and it suddenly vanished from the cube and appeared in his own storage space.
He didn't stop there, he took all of the contents of the space into his, some weapons, some clothes, some food, water, and coins.
Then he walked over to the other cubes, and did the same.
He then stripped the corpses of their usable armour and weaponry and put those into his space as well, before walking into the third floor.
He stood next to the entrance, and examined his loot with interest, specifically three items.
He summoned the first one, this one had been present in the storage space of John.
It appeared to be a submachine-gun of sorts, not of any model that Reed knew of. It also had a switch on it's side. 'What does that do?' He examined the gun all over, and then he checked the magazine, and shouted.
"YES!!" The shout was loud, as Reed looked to the sky. "YES!!"
The reason for his joy, was a few bullets at the bottom of the magazine, which enable him to be able to use the traits he possessed,
[Ammo Regeneration] and [Bottomless Magazine] to use the gun like his pistols.
[SMGDS40] [Tier 3]
[Status: Perfect condition]
[Ammunition: 6/40]
He could have just checked if there were bullets using the identify function, but he wanted to see it with his own eyes.
He put the gun back into his storage, and activated the traits to work on it.
Then he brought out the second firearm, from Polter's space.
This one, looked like a shotgun, and was a shotgun, but a bit different.
It's muzzle was more than an inch wide, and Reed was certain that the bullets were to match, which meant that the bullets this gun would fire, would do some serious damage.
'Please, PLEASE!!' He was begging internally for there to be at least one bullet inside.
He detached the magazine, took a deep breath, and checked it, and immediately felt another rush of joy as he burst into laughter.
Polter, as it turns out, had left a total of 3 bullets in the magazine, which had a total capacity of six, meaning he had fired it only thrice, and was most likely saving the rest for an emergency.
[SHOTCR6] [Tier 3]
[Status: Perfect condition]
[Ammunition: 3/6]
Reed was now in a very good mood, as he replaced the gun for the third item, a longsword with a length of 120 cm.
"Perfect."
While Reed could use the dual swords and even the daggers and knives if needed, he was still best used to a single weapon, and this longsword was perfect against multiple opponents.
[Heroic Longsword] [Tier 2]
[Status: Perfect condition]
[Durability: Excellent]
[Special effect: This weapon does more damage against evil creatures]
[Once used by a brave soldier, this sword was used to protect a city from devastation by monsters]
Reed paused, staring at the extra lines of text.
"Congratulations sir." The voice of Record snapped him out of his trance as he turned and looked at the floating black ball. "Your identify function has seen enough use to be upgraded to level 2. You are now able to gather a little bit more information than before."
Reed looked at Record for a moment, then turned back to the extra lines of text.
"An additional durability rating, and info about it's origin? I didn't know these had there own backstories." Reed chuckled, then quickly swept through his arsenal, identifying all of them.
But there was little to gain, only the different dagger and his pistols had something worthwhile.
[A blade enthusiast took great care of this weapon], was the description of the [Sharpened Dagger].
[This item is soul bound], was the description of the pistols.
'Why not their origin?' Reed wondered, all the other items had very simple descriptions, like their maker, or their previous user, all in very simple terms, like professional blacksmith, and lucky thief.
Reed put them all away, and brought out the shotgun.
He looked at it for a few minutes in silence as a wind blew through the trees, causing the leaves to move, making a soft relaxing sound as he remained in deep thought.
Then, after sitting motionless for almost ten minutes, he spoke aloud.
"Record." He called out, and Record materialized.
"Sir?"
"How much more exp will I need if I bind this to me?" He asked, holding up the shotgun.
"The total amount of extra experience you will require to level up will be increased to 50% sir." Record stated.
"An increase of 20% then." Reed wondered why the first time was 30%, but the second was only 20.
He looked at the gun, than at Record.
"I'm binding this to me."
