The fourth opponent was already quite injured, by some sort of flame attack, as their entire left hand was burned, along quite a bit of their clothing.
They were holding a spear in their right hand.
When they say Reed, he felt a wave of despair wash over them.
"Haaaa..." They exhaled loudly and dropped their weapon, then collapsed to the ground, paying no heed to the announcement that started their fight.
Reed was slightly curious about this development, but he understood their thought process.
'I have a gun, they don't, and they're already badly damaged from their previous fights, making it so they can't move quickly enough to dodge my shots. A combination of this made them realize that they had little chance of winning, and I imagine that arm is hurting quite a bit.'
He held up the gun, keeping it pointed to their head.
"Are you not going to even try?" He asked, as they cradled their burnt limb.
They looked up at him.
"You're not even dirtied, and I can't run anymore." They said, and Reed could pick out a wave of exhaustion from their voice. "Not to mention." They waved their burnt arm. "That bastard had a flamethrower."
'Flamethrower. So it wasn't a fire based spell then.'
"You could still have tried." He continued, and he thought he could see a hint of amusement from their face.
"I could, maybe I could have thrown this at you," They gestured to the spear. "Maybe it would have stabbed into your heart." He definitely heard a bit of thoughtfulness in that statement, meaning that they were wondering about something.
"What are you thinking about?" He asked, wanting to know what they had thought about.
"What do you mean?" They asked, slightly perplexed, at the sudden question.
"When you talked about that," He gestured to the spear. "Piercing into my heart, what were you thinking about?" He asked again, clarifying what he wanted to know.
"Hmm. I wondered what how far it would have gone, maybe it could have gone all the way through? Maybe it would have lodged it head into your ribs, things like, that."
They groaned in pain.
Reed looked at them in silence for a moment.
They looked back at him, and just as they were about to speak, Reed stopped them by speaking before them.
"Do you want to make a deal?" The sudden proposal stopped any words that they may have been prepared to speak.
They stared at him in silence for a few seconds.
"What kind of deal?" They asked.
"Information exchange, you tell me all you know, and I will tell you what you want to know."
"What I want to know?" They asked with a slightly confused voice.
"Yes." Reed said, lowering his gun and raising his other palm, as a ball of fire appeared over it, which he threw a dozen metres away, which then exploded.
He turned to them. "What you want to know."
Reed could feel a grin form on their face, he didn't need to see it, he knew it was there.
"With one condition." He continued, and he knew that the grin had disappeared.
"Of course," They let out a sigh. "What's the price?"
"Tell me your name, and your location."
There was silence in the field for a minute after Reed spoke those words, as the one who had given up before the battle begun was thinking about the proposal from the one whose victory was almost a certainty.
"Alright." They got up and their helmet disappeared.
"My name is Avabellia, and I am currently in the territory of the human kingdom of Grabintorn, in a small city near the capital, which is named as Maltor City."
As they introduced themself, Reed saw that the distortion of their image had disappeared, and he could see what they looked like, and their voice also became their natural one.
He didn't know why this was happening, but he had a pretty good guess.
"How do I know you're telling the truth?" He asked.
"There is no way to tell, but I can give you my word."
The woman in front of him had no distinct features, but was quite good looking, with a skin colour of a brown shade, dark, straight black hair that stretched a little past her shoulder blades, and startlingly bright green eyes.
Overall, she was easy to pick out from a crowd, and was in no way average looking.
"Hmm." Reed hummed, then pulled out one of his books and a pen.
"Since I can't see what you look like, I'm going to need you to describe yourself to me." He said, wanting to further test his theory.
"I have green eyes, my hair colour is black, and my skin is dark." She said, not knowing that Reed was merely testing her.
"I see, any defining marks? Birthmarks, scars, whatever the like?"
"None."
Reed nodded a few times, then closed the book.
He put it away, and pulled out another one.
"Alright, I ask questions, you answer." Avabellia nodded, and Reed began to ask questions about what she knew about the power system of the world, what dungeons she had visited, what she had gained, etc.
A few minutes after he had started his questioning, and far from the end of his questions, a notice appeared in front of them.
[Five minutes left]
"That's not enough time." Reed spoke his thought aloud.
"You say." Avabellia spoke, her wounds having being healed a little bit by Reed.
"There's no way I can learn magic in five minutes either." She seemed frustrated, and with good reason, for this meant that she had basically gained nothing from this deal, and had exposed herself to another player.
"I will give you my book on magic, don't worry about that, let's continue." Reed brushed off her worries, and continued his questioning, for the next four minutes.
The book was closed with a loud snap, and Reed put it away.
He brought out another book and handed it to her.
"Here you go." She took it and flipped through the pages looking at the contents.
"Do that later, here take this." He pulled out a circular piece of wood that had a symbol on one side, and he quickly wrote his name on the other.
"This is my symbol, if you see it in the future, know that it's mine, and come to find me, maybe we can help each other, my name is on it, keep it hidden and don't let others see it, I am in the central empire."
Avabellia listened to him while nodding showing that she understood what he was saying.
"One last thing." He took his helmet off, and desired to show his face to her.
Her reaction was all that he needed to confirm his theory.
"This is what I look like, and you are quite beautiful." He said, as he put it back on, enjoying the look of stupefaction on her face, as the timer ticked down.
"Goodbye." He pulled out his gun and shot her face, which immediately exploded.
