Caught you~~~
Her eyes glinted a strange light and malevolent smirk curved upon her face. She quickly finished her ice cream in quick small bites while following the figure with intense focus eyes.
They hadn't gotten far when the figure suddenly broke into a sprint!
"Damn it!", Liz cursed. She ran after him but he was like the breeze.
The figure ran like his life depended on it , his silhouette slithering through the narrow gaps of stalls and zigzaging through the maze of people. Liz wasn't so lucky. During the whole ordeal, something would happen to her. Liz couldn't count how many times she had bumped with somebody and said she was sorry. She hadn't felt so embarrassed since yesterday's ordeal and that time. Yes,she had embarrassed 3 times and the bars getting lower. Still!
Liz gritted her teeth, this is too much. We are both poor, why does he get to steal her money, but she can't get it back?
Who gave him the right?
Liz ducked her head and continued to pick the apples on the floor. Thankfully, these apples weren't too damaged and the young fruit merchant was kind. So, she didn't have to pay for it. Sadly, she lost the thief again.
After, giving the fruit merchant, the last apple. Liz hurriedly ran through the last corner she saw the thief turn to.
And, unsurprisingly, she didn't find him there.
Liz stomped her feet and crossed her arms and sat somewhere. She doesn't know where she is but the sun was setting in the horizon.
Night was the last thing she needed now, Liz sighed. Except for breakfast, she hasn't eaten the whole day and ice cream isn't exactly filling for the stomach. As evidence, her stomach is currently protesting.
"That thief...", Liz murmured.
She was sitting at someone's doorstep when she felt the wind swish behind her.
The door opened.
Liz was shook, her body stood up on its own, taking a step further away from the sudden, danger?
Liz met an equally confused pair of blue . Definitely wondering why someone was sitting at their doorstep. He stood there in a daze looking at her when his eyes suddenly widened when he looked at her face like he realized something. He tilted his head while gazing at her , his mind at work. Liz described.
Nevermind, Liz rolled her eyes because the next thing that happened simply baffled her.
To her shock, He opened the door wider as if she wanted her to go inside. What the heck!
"Oh, it's you", he simply said. Smiling amicably at her, to which she smiled back politely but the corners of her mouth was twitching uncontrollably. Who are you?!
....
Scarfing down food which hopefully isn't tampered with. Liz lost all poise and composure when the intoxicating fragrance of turkey enveloped her.
She is now inside the house from the doorstep she stumbled to. Dangerous? Yes.
Liz tore a chunk off that delicious turkey and
chewed on the leg of that big turkey while eyeing , the young fruit merchant right infront of her. Smiling... at her...?
What's up with him?, she thought. She felt that he was morbidly familiar like this wasn't the first time they met, except for earlier, it felt like she had met him long before that. Like, he was someone she was supposed to know. But, Liz knew for a fact that she had never met him before that incident on his stall.
Liz was deep in her own thoughts while looking straight at the man infront of her.
Is he really someone, this body knows?
Liz furrowed her brows, pondering to herself.
That's right. Maybe. After all, this body isn't mine and I haven't forgotten this isn't my world in the first place. Liz pondered about this as she averted her gaze from his smiling facade. Her frown hidden by a turkey hanging midair inches from her face.
So, she didn't notice how the man tilted his head observing her every move. The man casually ran his eyes all over her. Gone, was the smile he flashed so amicably at her.
"So, how are you?", He suddenly asked. Liz choked, surprised at his sudden inquiry. The man reached for the porcelain pitcher and handed her a mug of water. Not your common pitcher either, as expected of a merchant. Liz eyes flashed but she gulped down that water hard as if there was no tomorrow.
The man helped her wipe the water escaping from the corners of her mouth so familiarly that Liz couldn't help but be conscious of him. Weird.
Liz coughed hard after that, the food that almost blocked her esophagus was gone but the feeling of relief after gulping that water from that choking feeling of suffocation was no joke.
"I'm fine", she replied. Her eyes averted from him so his clenched hands escaped from her eyes.
Liz took another chunk of flesh from that turkey, so barbarically that If someone she knew before saw her , they'd have to pick their jaws right of the floor.
The silence over the course of the meal was deafening. It became clear to Liz that this man knows something about her. As for what it was , all she could guess was that it was a bad thing. Hopefully, Liz sighed, I'll never find out.
