Chapter 26 - Double standard 2

" Do you want to explore with me?"

The both of them were sitting in the parlor when Dr. Sue suddenly suggested that they go out together. He held the the glass teapot in one hand and added some dried tea leaves in with the other. Then, he poured the boiling hot water or water in the right temperature. Next, they waited for the tea to steep with the recommended time.

While doing so at that time, Dr. Sue had a sudden idea. He pondered and decided that since they wasn't anything particularly happening today. Since, he was only a partly an assistance and wasn't particularly called for work today. It meant that they have free time and with the money from yesterday. He thought why not enjoy themselves today.

But, Liz obviously didn't have the same enthusiasm. She looked at him with an obvious frown on her face and said.

" No, I'm tired." Liz simply said." Unless, you want to catch that thief with me." Liz offered.

Dr. Sue's face contorted in disgust, he gagged. Waving his hands in casual dismissal but, he still replied. " No thanks".

That last time was enough for him. Not to mention, last night's. He wasn't much of a warrior either. All that running and other fiasco, simply saps him at his core.Dr. Sue confessed.

He was a man more built for a "quill" than u might think. Swords don his body as nothing more than ornaments or so his father said.

Dr. Sue let the fragrance fill the room. The tea was ready, he poured both of their cups with tea and elegantly at that. Liz was so pleasantly surprised, that she couldn't help cover her mouth in a momentary loss of composure. Just so you know, for her world this was considered quite feminine and unattractive for the opposite gender. But, she quickly withdrew back to the topic.

"There you have it!", Liz smirked in triumphant declaration.

"We' shall stay right where we are!" She happily repeated more specifically, while politely thanking Dr. Sue for handing her the cup of tea he made. She sat crossed-legged with her tea and sipped her tea in such a relaxed manner that she exhaled in deep jubilation.

The aroma of the tea wafted to their noses. The sunlight poured from the glass ceilings of the greenhouse. The colored tint tainting the light red. It was such a calming afternoon. That it'll be a waste if it was ruined.

" So, why did you want to catch that thief?"

Dr. Sue asked curiously. It was so strange about it that he felt the need to ask about it. Most people would just lament their loss after all.

" No reason", Liz replied half- heartedly. Trying to pass it off as nothing.

Right. Dr. Sue sarcastically commented, he immediately caught on at what she was trying to pass by. His lips twitched as he thought with a roll in his eyes. You've been complaining about that thief since you met him and just yesterday you raced the streets with him. Dr. Sue thought glumly, although it's true that he stole our money, we're not short of it anymore.

" Why can't you just let him go?"

" Not. A. Chance", Liz furiously stated in a flat and even tone. Her voice like the calm before the storm and her smile after she finished her words looked more akin of a smiling tiger.

Let him go?

LET. HIM. GO. Liz repeated in her head in exasperation at just the thought of letting that thief go!

Her inner voice revealing her rage rising at new heights. Just because I'm not a noble anymore, it doesn't mean that he can just take my money like that!

A wide grin plastered in Lisette's face, her usual demureness gone. As if it was never there. Something in the shadows manifested behind her and her aura quietly turned eerie when she chuckled maliciously.

Kukukukukekekeke.

Just a few centimeters away, Dr. Sue chuckled nervously with her. Thinking, he's mishearing her obvious tone and soon, he was proven of how great his ears were.

His hands faltered as he sipped his tea.

Is she alright?

Dr. Sue thought worriedly.

He tried to scoot a little farther from her already. This was the first time he ever saw Liz revealing such a colorful display of her emotion.

Liz on the other hand had already rode her horse heading straight in into the path of nowhere good.

Liz giggled in unprecedented ebullience. Her fervor unmatched as somewhere in her strange mystical lands , she somehow restored her honor by her stratigical planning to catch that thief.

And, true to her unmatchable might of fanciful flights, she somehow did it. Where she was "Conveniently Solo", bereft of assistance, for who needs help anyway.

Surely, not her.

Liz confidently assured with her head somewhere in the clouds.Still in her fanciful fit, Liz covered her mouth still trying to be demure but she couldn't help herself.

She broke into partly suppressed laughter.

Her nostrils flared with her ego and she harumped, just you wait! For my honor!

Liz raised her hand in the air in one swift chop and clenched it with hard determination. She looked straight in the sky with eyes shining with promise.

Another goal from here on forth, to restore her honor!

She went beet red with excitement, her arms flailing around like a baby playing upon her dangling toy ornaments above her little bed, kicking the air happily in silly excitement as if she had already watched the thief!

Well...

In her defense, thanks to that thief, she had quite a lot of exciting adventures. The first time they met, they had to run through the streets as if their behind was stung by a porcupine!

Undergarments hung on their bodies as if they were clothesline. Not to mention, the sheer ability of it to make one want to dig ther own coffins out of plain embarrassment...

Liz covered her face, her ears turned red. Her body not moving an inch, as she rode her horse down her mind's eye and just wished she could burn that recollection!

Liz clenched her teeth as her hands slowly layed helplessly at her side. Slowly calming down under the mystical aroma of the cup of earl gray, Liz heaved a sigh.

Meanwhile, Dr.Sue diverted his eyes feeling a pang of secondhand embarrassment. It was a conniving scene.

He shifted awkwardly on his chair. Although, it was plumply filled with cotton and comfortably decorated with dashing designs. All Dr. Sue could feel was his gut gnawing in him with the need to lift his feet and run. He just wanted to leave from this place as soon as possible. Dr. Sue emphasized, his lips squirmed as he grimaced.

Hopefully, she didn't notice him yet.

Or, did she?

Did she forget that he's here?Hopefully.

Hopefully, she did. Doctor Sue sipped his tea as quietly as he could. Finishing it, quite quickly. He tried his best to slink himself and merge his body with the sofa chair. Trying his best to keep his presence reduced to null.

Cold sweat trickled from his forehead. Dr. Sue had never believed in God. He didn't even pray at anything holy when those conniving men did him in. But, something tells him that he doesn't want to be here when Liz regains herself from her stupor.

He felt like an old man. Gray hair, sagging skin and a thin body, well above the hundreds but still praying for God not to take him yet. Dr. Sue rubbed his palms together in silent , genuine prayer. I have never prayed before but, dear lord!
