Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: "The Beast of Light and the Flame Steed"

From above, a voice says: "Sparda!" Then it continues: "You are a Sparda." Suddenly, a beast-like demon falls from the heights; various parts of its body resemble different animals.

Seeing it, Dante comments: "Oh, poor thing." Then, in a mocking tone, he adds: "Didn't your mother teach you to use a door?"

The demon, visibly annoyed, starts advancing toward Dante: "That smell... I recognize it."

Dante smells himself and replies: "What? Is it because of the smell now?" Then, laughing, he adds: "I'll tell you something, next time I'll try to use a bit of cologne, okay?"

The demon prepares to attack while growling: "It's the stench of betrayal, the smell of that damned Sparda!"

Dante dodges backward to avoid the demon's blow, laughing: "Hahaha! A son cleaning up his father's mess, huh? Where have I heard that story before?" With a quick turn, he draws his guns, ready to fight.

The music ('beowulf battle') starts playing.

[Cat Guru: "A kind of chimera, perhaps?"]

[Blossoming Butterfly: "I wonder if that light would be useful for the moons of my world."]

[Gold Lady Caged in Ice: "Bearing the responsibilities of a father, huh?"]

After exchanging blows, the beast lunges at Dante. He throws his sword, cutting one of the demon's eyes, but fails to dodge the attack and ends up pinned to the ground. The beast, now blinded, grows furious and roars: "You! Detestable being whose veins run with Sparda's blood." While covering its face, it continues: "Even though I've lost my sight, I remember your smell." Then, preparing to leave, it declares: "I will hunt you for eternity if necessary," and as it moves away, it shouts: "Until I rid this land of your disgusting stench!"

Dante gets up from the ground, shakes himself off, and watches the beast retreat. With a tone of complaint and mockery, he comments: "Why do I have to pay for everything my father did? Come on, man."

Dante begins to walk toward the relic at the end of the room. He picks it up, but after a moment, he starts to weaken slowly until he kneels on the floor. Then, he hears laughter behind him.

Jester, approaching and laughing, comments: "Hahaha! That's incredible! Not even the demon boy is a match for that!" Dante grabs Jester and points his weapon at his nose. Jester, feigning surprise, says: "Oh, you're not going to shoot me, are you? If you do, I'll die, you know?" To which Dante replies: "If that's what it takes to shut you up. It really annoys me when someone talks more than I do." Jester laughs and retorts: "Don't act so rashly, kid. I have an incredible story to tell you, but if you silence me that way, I won't be able to tell it to you, will I?" Dante lets him go and pushes him back.

Jester gets up and comments: "Wow, I thought I was done for a moment." Then, approaching Dante with exaggerated clown gestures, he says: "Oops! You saw it too, didn't you? The huge tower sticking out of the ground? That thick shaft that makes women tremble is, in fact, a tunnel connecting the demon realm with the human world. And, of course, your brother Vergil is the one controlling it using your mom's amulet."

Dante looks at him and asks: "Amulet?" Jester starts dancing and jumping while saying: "He's heading to the control room in the basement. If you don't get down there quickly like a rabbit, it will open the door to hell. Aren't you scared thinking about it?" Dante, skeptical, asks: "And you're telling me this because...?" Jester approaches and replies: "Oops! I forgot to mention a little detail. That gadget is, in fact, the KEY to moving forward. But the tricky part is that it absorbs the souls of those who possess it. So I think it would be better for you to hurry!"

Jester steps back and begins to dance while mocking: "Hahahahaha! But in exchange for your soul, it will give you power! Wonderful, right? Just let your spirit guide you and go for it. Hahaha!" He then rises into the air with a circus trapeze and disappears.

Dante stands up and comments: "I wish you had told me that from the beginning. You're a blabbering idiot!" Immediately after, he transforms into his demonic form.

[Gold Lady Caged in Ice: "That clown seems really annoying."]

After a while, Dante continues looking for a way to rid himself of the relic. He fights demons along the way until he finds where to use it. Finally, he frees himself from it, returns to his human form, and continues on his way.

Dante arrives at a door adorned with two horse figures. Upon entering, he finds a long path crowded with hordes of demons. Preparing for the fight, he suddenly notices two blue flames igniting along the sides of the path. At the end of the path, a door opens, and a blue horse emerges, with azure flames on its crest, sweeping away the demons in its path.

Seeing the horse approach, Dante jokes: "They take that horsepower seriously." The horse stops in front of him, and Dante, still with his characteristic humor, says: "So it's time to play cat and mouse with a horse, huh?" Preparing for the fight, he adds: "For my sake."
