Chapter 22 - Buzz off

22: Buzz off

As Luna left Leonis has been watching her interaction with the boys, But…

"Maybe I shouldn't act like a doting brother", he sighed turning his attention away from the area.

However, after some few seconds,

"Do you even know who I am? I'm Viviana Everhart, heir to the esteemed House of Everhart. And you...you're probably just a lowly noble, barely worthy of our notice."

She snickered. "Your family's title is probably as dusty as your clothes."

Viviana's gaze turned icy. "You're not fit to play with us, let alone share our social circle. Go back to your...inferior friends."

Luna's face burned, tears welling up in her eyes.

Leonis looked at his sister from afar and his expression darkened .

Just as Viviana was about to push Luna away, a firm hand grasped Viviana's wrist, halting her motion.

Luna's tears faltered as she saw her brother, Leonis, standing beside her.

His gaze turned icy, piercing Viviana. "I'll advise you to refrain from laying hands on my sister."

As Leonis grasped Viviana's wrist, his gaze turned glacial.

The air around them seemed to chill, the temperature dropping with his cold stare.

Viviana shivered, her eyes fixed on Leonis's unforgiving expression.

Edgar and Malcolm exchanged nervous glances, sensing the sudden shift in atmosphere.

"Who are you?" Viviana asked, her voice trembling.

Leonis's grip remained firm, his voice low and commanding. "Apologize to my sister."

Viviana's trembling voice barely escaped her lips. "I-I apologize."

Edgar and Malcolm gave Leo an apologetic look .

With a final fearful glance, the trio turned and fled.

As they disappeared into the crowd, Leonis released a controlled breath.

Luna's eyes welled up with gratitude.

"Thank you, Leo."

Leonis's expression softened, and he smiled reassuringly at his sister.

Unnoticed by the siblings, a nearby nobleman watched Leonis with intrigue.

He had witnessed the brief confrontation and noticed something peculiar.

The air seemed to chill when Leonis's gaze turned cold.

The nobleman's eyes narrowed, lost in thought.

"A white-haired boy...with such presence and authority...and an unsettling aura. Who is he?"

His gaze lingered on Leonis, his mind racing with possibilities.

Soon enough Leo felt a eye watching him.

The nobleman's contemplation was interrupted when Leonis's gaze suddenly shifted, locking onto him.

Leonis's eyes, piercing and intense, conveyed a single, unambiguous message: "Buzz off."

The nobleman's eyes widened slightly, taken aback by the palpable warning.

He inclined his head, acknowledging Leonis's silent rebuke, and swiftly looked away, feigning interest in the surrounding crowd.

Though his expression remained neutral, a hint of surprise lingered in his mind.

"He's perceptive...and guarded," the nobleman thought. "Not an ordinary young noble, indeed."

Leonis returned his attention to Luna, his expression softening.

As Leonis turned back to Luna, his thoughts turned inward.

He chastised himself for letting his energy slip earlier. His power, concealed behind layers of subtle spells and mental shields, was meant to remain hidden.

"Careless," he thought. "I shouldn't have let them provoke me."

Leonis knew that revealing even a hint of his true strength could attract unwanted attention.

However, the thought of anyone bullying Luna ignited a fierce protectiveness within him.

"No one insults my sister," he vowed silently.

He reinforced his mental shields, ensuring his energy remained suppressed.

From now on, he'd be more vigilant, more controlled.

Luna's safety depended on it.

Leonis's gaze swept the surrounding area, his senses heightened, ready to respond to any potential threat.

The sudden blast of music and laughter signaled the party's commencement.

Luna's eyes sparkled. "The party's starting, Leo!"

Leonis smiled, pushing aside his concerns for the moment. "Shall we join the festivities, Luna?"

Together, they merged with the crowd, losing themselves in the sea of colorful attire and joyful chatter.

The nobleman, still intrigued by Leonis, watched from afar, his eyes narrowing.

"I'll uncover your secrets, white-haired boy," he thought.

As the music swelled, Leonis and Luna found themselves surrounded by acquaintances and well-wishers.

Leonis's caution remained, but for now, he'd let Luna enjoy the celebration.
