18: Awake
Seven days had passed since the mind-blowing spectacle.
After the astonishing display of Leonis forming his mana core, the house had fell silent.
But as the days passed, concern grew.
Leonis hadn't stirred, lost in a deep sleep.
Aria's worry deepened with each passing hour.
He was only three years old, still learning to navigate the world.
Some children barely uttered their first words at this age.
Yet, Leonis had accomplished the impossible.
Forming a mana core at three was unheard of.
The weight of his potential was crushing.
Aria's thoughts swirled.
What did this mean for his future?
Would he be able to control his powers?
As she gazed at Leonis's peaceful face, tears welled up.
She gently stroked his soft hair.
Healers and sages monitored his condition.
But none could explain why he wouldn't wake.
Their baffled expressions and shaking heads only fueled Aria's despair.
She felt utterly helpless.
No remedy, no magic, no expertise could rouse her child.
Aria's thoughts swirled, her mind consumed by worry.
Suddenly, a faint whisper broke the silence.
"Ugh..."
Aria's heart skipped a beat.
"Mom?" a small voice called out.
Leonis's eyes fluttered open.
Aria's tears of despair transformed into tears of joy.
"Leonis!" she exclaimed, her voice trembling.
She enveloped him in a warm embrace.
"Welcome back," she whispered.
Leonis's gaze locked onto hers, still cloudy with sleep.
"Why are you sad, Mom?" he asked, his tiny voice filled with concern.
Aria's smile wavered.
She hadn't expected him to notice her tears.
"Nothing, sweetie," she said, stroking his hair.
"I'm just happy to see you awake."
Leonis's eyes narrowed slightly.
Just then, the door swung open.
Harrison stepped in, Luna by his side.
Their eyes widened in unison.
"Leonis!" Harrison exclaimed.
Luna's eyes sparkled.
"Leo!" she chimed.
Aria smiled, tears streaming down her face.
"He's awake," she whispered.
Harrison rushed to the bed.
Luna clung to his leg.
Leonis's gaze shifted to his father.
Then to his twin sister.
A warm smile spread across his face.
"Da... Dad!" Leonis stammered.
Harrison scooped up Leonis.
Embracing him tightly.
Luna giggled.
"Leo!" she squealed.
She clambered onto the bed.
Throwing her arms around Leonis.
The room filled with joyful laughter.
"How do you feel, son?" Harrison asked.
Leonis snuggled into his father's chest.
"I'm... okay, Dad," Leonis replied.
His tiny voice filled with a mix of exhaustion and confusion.Afterall he was just retired to the real world after seven days.
Harrison's gaze met Aria's.
She shook her head slightly.
No signs of lingering issues.
Just exhaustion.
Luna clung to Leonis.
"Leo, I missed you!" she exclaimed.
Leonis smiled.
"Missed you too, Lu," he whispered.
The twins shared a gentle hug.
Just as they were having a heartwarming moment Harrison's expression turned serious.
"Leonis, you're awake now, and that's wonderful," Harrison said.
"But, son, you need to know something."
Leonis looked up at his father, curious.
"What is it, Dad?" he asked.
"In the next year, you'll begin magical training," Harrison explained.
Leonis's eyes widened.
"Magical training?" he repeated.
Aria nodded.
"It's time, Leonis," she said.
"Your... unique abilities require guidance."
Ever since that day when Harrison has explained his hypothetical theory behind Leonis awakening Aria after several debate she later agreed.
Even though she wanted Leo to have a normal life Aria couldn't overlook his potential.
Not to mention the various threats that surrounded their family. Afterall they had little allies.
Luna looked puzzled.
"Leo, what's magical training?" she asked.
Harrison smiled.
"Leonis will learn to control and harness his magic," he said.
"To become a skilled mage, just like Mom and Dad."
Leonis's face lit up.
"Really?" he exclaimed.
Luna clapped.
"Yay, Leo!"
Luna's eyes sparkled.
"Can I learn magic too, Dad?" she asked.
Harrison chuckled.
"Luna, you're not showing any magical abilities yet," he explained.
"But that doesn't mean you won't develop them later."
Luna pouted.
"But I want to learn with Leo!"
Aria intervened.
"Sweetie, even if you don't have magic, you'll always be special," she said.
"And you can support Leo through his training."
Luna's face brightened.
"Really?"
Leonis grinned.
Harrison smiled.
"We'll discuss this further later."
He turned serious.
"Leonis, your training will start soon."
"Get plenty of rest."
Harrison then left. After he left Aria to Luna.
"Okay Luna I think that's enough okay, your brother just recovered so let him get some rest then you can chat later.
"Awn but I wanna play with Leo" Luna pouted.
"Let's go Luna" Aria said.
"Okay then see you later Leo". She smiled before shutting the door.
Leo sighed
"Who knew I'll be starting my training this quick, but it's great that I get to learn about more magic concepts.
He said his thoughts trailed back to his battle with Xarathys.
The way the demon amplified his fire element to his fighting techniques was fascinating it made him think of a way to improve himself.
If only he knew what element he possessed.
Just then a thought flashed to his mind so he called out.
