Chapter 9 - Ch 9 : Try- Me _1

Jammy's mom asked Max about his health

and how he was doing, and Max responded with a smile. The two of them talked for almost half an hour, and Max really enjoyed talking with Jameson's mom.

After talking for a while, Ms. Jessica said goodbye and left. Now, Max was sitting alone in the garden. "This is the first time I've felt so good talking to someone, and seeing how caring she is... I wonder if there are people like this on Earth," Max thought as he reminisced about his conversation with Jammy and his mom.

Max was in a good mood now and was beginning to like this new world and the people here. Just then, Tom came and informed him, "Young Master, Dr. Nelson is here for your checkup."

Max snapped out of his thoughts, heard Tom, and replied, " Okay," and started heading inside.

A little later, Max reached the living room, where Dr. Nelson was waiting on the sofa. Seeing Max come in, he greeted him, "Good morning, Max."

"Good morning, Dr. Nelson," Max replied.

Dr. Nelson came closer to Max and took out his checkup machine (which Max thought looked like a gadget from Doraemon) and fitted it onto Max's arm. A needle emerged and went into his body, showing his full body function on the monitor. Dr. Nelson checked it thoroughly and was briefly shocked but quickly composed himself.

"Congratulations, Max! The nerves in your brain have fully healed."

"Thank you, Doctor. It's all because of your long-term medication that I've recovered," Max said.

"Hahaha... Absolutely... Absolutely..." Dr. Nelson laughed awkwardly, thinking to himself, "I've only been doing checkups for the past five years; I had nothing to do with your recovery. But I can't tell you that, and no one else needs to know either. I'd completely lost hope that you'd ever wake up from the coma. I gave up, and yet here you are, awake, with even the damaged nerves in your brain fully healed. If I told anyone, they'd think I was crazy. Well, whatever, no one needs to know." With these thoughts, he removed the machine from Max's arm.

"Doctor, my memories aren't coming back," Max asked, feeling disappointed. He'd hoped that over the past two days, he'd remember at least a little. When Jammy talked about the past, Max tried hard to recall those memories, but it was no use. Thinking Dr. Nelson might have answers, he asked.

"After five years in a coma, your memory has become a bit blurry—or rather, parts of it may be locked away. Now that your mind is active again, it'll take some time for those memories to resurface. Don't stress, alright? Just focus on daily exercises; they'll help improve your body functions," Dr. Nelson advised.

"Hmm, okay, Doctor," Max nodded.

"Dr. Nelson, does the young master still need to take any medications?" Tom, who had been listening nearby, asked.

"No, there's no need anymore," Dr. Nelson replied.

"Alright, Doctor. I'll handle your final payment," Tom said, and Dr. Nelson's eyes lit up as he followed Tom to settle the payment.

Max watched the two leave and lay down on the bed for a bit to rest.

Two days later…

Over the past two days, Max had been following the same routine: waking up early, doing an hour of exercise, having breakfast, taking a walk in the garden—now able to walk quite steadily. Then, he'd have lunch, rest, dinner, and a chat with his mom, Helen, before going to sleep. And...

Today, October 30th, was the day he had been eagerly waiting for. Tonight, he would be watching his first movie in this world, and they already had the tickets.

Last night, Jammy had called to say that he'd managed to arrange movie tickets, and the show was at 7 p.m. He would come an hour early to pick Max up.

Max got ready with great excitement, dressed as if he were going to his own wedding, wearing expensive clothes and waiting by the gate for Jammy. "Ugh, when is this idiot going to get here? It's already six, and he still hasn't shown up," Max muttered, frustrated, as he'd been waiting since 5:30. He kept checking his watch repeatedly, feeling more and more irritated until he saw an electric car pull up in front of him. Shocked, he muttered to himself, "Holy Moly… What is this… a supercar or a Lamborghini?"

As he was still staring, the door of the supercar opened, and a familiar voice called from the driver's seat, "Hey, what's up, buddy?" Max recognized the voice and bent down to see Jammy sitting at the wheel. "Get in quickly, or we'll get stuck in traffic," Jammy said hurriedly.

"It's not my fault you're late, and now you're telling me to hurry up!" Max complained, a bit annoyed, as he climbed into the front seat. As soon as he was seated, Jammy revved up the car, and Max was amazed at its powerful pickup.

"I came here straight from work, that's why I was late," Jammy explained.

"Okay, fine, let's go. Only half an hour left until the movie starts," Max said, still a bit annoyed.

"Oh... Is that so? Watch my driving skills, then!" Jammy replied, pressing the accelerator hard. The car surged forward at super speed, and Jammy let out a wild scream, "YAHOOO!"

"Holy fu*k! He's definitely a psycho!" Max thought, feeling nervous as Jammy's excitement grew. He started imagining what would happen if Jammy accidentally hit someone at this speed. But to Max's surprise, there were no other cars or vehicles on the road in front of them. Confused, he asked, "You said there would be traffic. So, where is it?"

"Look to your left. There's all the traffic you could want," Jammy replied, directing Max's attention.

Max turned to his left and saw that the cars were indeed stuck in a massive traffic jam, likely to take around an hour to clear. Bewildered, he asked, "Why isn't there any traffic on this road?"

"Because this is a VIP road. Anyone who drives here has an amount automatically deducted from their account," Jammy clarified.

"What...!?" Max was shocked, and his mind went blank for a moment. "If it costs money, why'd you still drive on this road?"

"I couldn't let my friend miss the movie just because of a traffic jam," Jammy replied with a grin.

Understanding Jammy's intention, Max smiled, and for a while, they drove in comfortable silence. The electric car glided smoothly at high speed, with only the sound of the wind whooshing past, "Woooooshhhh."

"So... how much do they actually deduct for using this VIP road?" Max finally broke the silence, curious.

"Ahh... it's no big deal, Max. Forget about it," Jammy said, cutting off the conversation and pointing ahead. "Look, we're here at our destination."

Jammy gestured to the theater ahead, and Max's eyes lit up in excitement.

Max's gaze landed on the theater building, and his mouth dropped open in shock, unable to make a sound. Jammy stepped out of the car, noticing Max's expression and wide-open mouth. He chuckled and said, "Hey... close your mouth! People are staring at you!"

"Holy shit... There's no way I could even compare this theater to one back on Earth. Not even one percent..." Max thought, still in awe.
