Chapter 11 - Returning home after twenty years

Due to Tanita's death, Karil fell into a deep shock, losing his mind and overexerting himself, causing severe self-harm. When Lyotan realized this, he decided to find a healer to prevent Karil from suffering further. On Kazaris's suggestion, Lyotan found a healer named Maxis. Lyotan returned home with Maxis, only to find that the soldiers had surrounded his house.

Lyotan: "But how...?!"

Maxis: "I thought you said you were a friend of Kazaris, but it looks like you tricked me."

Lyotan grabbed Maxis's hand and said: "I had no idea the soldiers would be here, I swear!"

Maxis sighed and said: "Alright, let's find a place where the soldiers can't find me first."

Lyotan took Maxis to a wooded area to hide from the soldiers.

Lyotan: "Stay here, I'll go get Kazaris and Karil."

Kazaris: "I'm already here."

Lyotan jumped and shouted: "What are you doing here?!"

Kazaris: "Shh, Karil is sleeping."

Lyotan saw that Kazaris was carrying Karil.

Kazaris looked at Maxis and said: "Maxis, you've gotten so old!"

Maxis: "That's natural, but why have you become a child?"

Kazaris: "W-well, it's a long story, I'll tell you everything later."

Lyotan: "Enough talking, we need to get out of here quickly."

Suddenly, a soldier saw Lyotan and the others from a distance and shouted: "They're here, they're escaping!"

The soldiers approached them, and Lyotan quickly used golden circles to bind the soldiers' hands and feet, buying them some time.

Lyotan, stressed, said: "This won't hold for long, we need to move quickly!"

Kazaris quickly went to the forest with the others, and Lyotan joined them shortly after.

Everyone was walking in the forest.

Lyotan: "I don't think anyone will find us."

Suddenly, Maxis threw a potion on the ground, and a purple aura emerged from it.

Lyotan: "What are you doing?!"

Maxis: "I'm erasing our presence. This way, the soldiers will lose our trail and find no clues about us."

Lyotan smiled and said: "I see, you're really useful."

Kazaris, carrying Karil, said: "Can't you two walk a little faster?"

Maxis stopped and said: "Karis, why didn't you tell me this boy has a fever?"

Kazaris looked at Maxis in surprise and said: "He has a fever?"

Kazaris placed Karil on the ground. Maxis examined Karil's condition. Karil was sweating and breathing heavily.

Lyotan: "Is he not okay?"

Maxis: "He's just in a deep shock. He'll feel better with a sedative."

Kazaris, irritated, said: "This won't work, we need to find a place where Karil can rest quickly."

Lyotan: "But wherever we go, the soldiers will follow us."

Maxis: "I know a place where we can live comfortably without any trouble."

Lyotan, surprised, said: "Really?!"

Maxis: "I didn't want to go back there, but for this boy, I have to."

Maxis took the others to his town, a somewhat remote place near the mountains. Maxis and the others walked along a dirt road surrounded by trees.

Lyotan said excitedly: "Wow! The weather here is really nice!"

Lyotan felt invigorated and walked with great enthusiasm.

Maxis: "Yes, because this town was built in the mountains."

Lyotan: "I'm surprised you didn't come back here sooner."

Maxis frowned and said: "Well, there wasn't any particular reason. Anyway, I had to come back here someday."

Maxis went to an old house and opened the door.

Maxis: "Come in, this is my home."

Kazaris: "Why is it so dirty and dusty here?"

Maxis: "Sorry, I haven't used this house for about twenty years."

Lyotan: "Leave it to me, I'll clean it up."

Lyotan picked up a broom to clean the house.

Kazaris looked at Maxis and said: "Do you expect a child to rest in a place like this?"

Maxis laughed and said: "Of course not. I'll take the boy to my daughter's house; she's a very good nurse."

Kazaris was surprised and said: "You have a daughter?!"

Maxis smiled proudly and said: "I have seven children; they've all grown up and have their own lives."

Kazaris: "So where's your wife? Why didn't you go back to her?"

Maxis frowned slightly and said: "She passed away almost twenty years ago."

Kazaris: "I see, I'm sorry for bringing it up."

Maxis smiled and said: "It's okay, it's in the past."

Maxis took Kazaris to his daughter's house.

Young woman: "Father, you've come back?!"

The young woman ran towards Maxis and hugged him.

Maxis: "Yes, I've returned, I'm glad to see you, Patry."

Patry looked at Kazaris and said: "What beautiful golden eyes you have."

Kazaris: "Well, yeah, most people hate my eyes."

Patry: "Why?"

Kazaris: "Well, because..."

Patry looked at Karil and said: "Is this boy your brother?"

Kazaris blushed a little and said: "Kind of, Karil and I are not related by blood."

Maxis: "Patry, this boy just lost his mother and he's in a very bad state, we need to help him."

Patry thought for a moment and said: "Alright, he can stay at my house until he gets better."

Maxis looked at Kazaris and said: "Karis, it's better for this boy to stay away from you and Lyotan for a while."

Kazaris: "Why?"

Maxis: "Please trust me, it's better for him to stay away from things that remind him of his past, at least until he can come to terms with the truth."

Kazaris smiled sadly and said: "I understand, if it helps him get better, I'll stay away for a while."

Patry smiled and said: "Don't worry, I'll take care of him."

Kazaris decided to stay away from Karil for a while to ease his pain.

Kazaris returned to Maxis's house without Karil. Lyotan looked at Kazaris in surprise and said: "Where's Karil?"

Kazaris frowned slightly and said: "He's with Maxis's daughter."

Lyotan sighed and said: "I see."

Kazaris: "You don't have a problem with that?"

Lyotan: "No, it's better for Karil this way."

Kazaris went to the living room and saw that it was sparkling clean.

Kazaris was amazed and said: "What did you do?! It's like we're in a different house!"

Lyotan: "I didn't do anything special, I didn't even use magic."

Kazaris thought and said: "Now that I think about it, I've only seen you use one spell."

Lyotan smiled and said: "Well, actually..."

Kazaris proudly said: "You don't need to show me now, show me in the battlefield."

Lyotan smiled and said: "Good idea, I'll show you in battle."

Lyotan thought: "That was close, he almost found out my weakness!" He took a deep breath.

Kazaris thought: "I just need to pretend to be friends with him, then when Karil gets stronger, I'll take my revenge." Kazaris smirked.

Lyotan: "What are you smiling about?"

Kazaris: "Nothing, I'm going out for some fresh air."

Kazaris went outside.
