Chapter 1 - A New Life

A sunny morning.

In a forest near a small town in the Johto region, a boy who appears to be around 7 or 8 years old can be seen exploring the forest with a camera, Looking from side to side with a sparkle in his eyes.

"Fuooohh... This fresh air is really amazing, I never get tired of coming here and relaxing"

Says Victor after taking a deep breath.

'Come to think of it, it's been eight years since I was reborn here in the Pokemon world, hahaha. Time sure flies when you're having fun. Even studying for the breeder's exam is fun,' Victor thinks, as he walks through the forest in search of some Pokemon to photograph. But as he walks and observes the trees looking for some small creatures, he can't help but get lost in old memories.

Eight years ago

In the Kanto region, between Viridian Forest and Mt. Silver, there is Turquoise City, a small town that sits both within Viridian Forest and at the foot of Mt. Silver.

And this is where our story begins, for here is where our hero is born—or rather, reborn.

In just a few minutes, our hero will be born at the Pokemon Center in this small town, with the blessings of the forest.

Rewinding a few minutes, in the void between realities:

'It's been nine months since the accident, huh. Why did I try to play the hero?'

A small ball of white light can be seen questioning itself in the darkness of the void.

'But thinking about it, if I hadn't saved that boy, he would have certainly died, so it wasn't all that bad.'

These self-reflections had become common in the past months, like a defense mechanism to keep me from going insane.

Who would have thought that I, Victor Blackwood, one of the top scientists and hackers, would die like this, playing the hero?

'It's just annoying that I won't be able to finish updating the artificial intelligence I was working on.'

Now here I am, wandering in total darkness, but this time here has made me remember many things, from anime to games. It was something I did to avoid going mad.

One of the things I did the most was recalling the information from the Pokedex—whether it was stats, descriptions, or moves.

Remembering that made me feel quite nostalgic since I was a big fan of Pokemon games. And the time I spent here in the void, as I like to call this place, seems to have made my memory clearer, and I can also think faster than before.

I keep wandering until I see something I hadn't seen in the nine months I've spent here: another light source, and it's a large, multicolored light.

Curious, I start approaching it slowly, until suddenly, the light begins to pull me in.

'Wait! No. No. No! Well... I hope this is reincarnation...!'

And then, the small ball of white light is sucked into the large multicolored light.

Turquoise Town Pokemon Center.

"Aaaahh!!!"

Inside one of the many rooms of the Pokemon Center, we can hear.

"Push, ma'am! He's almost out! Just a little more!"

"You heard that, Mary? It's almost over. You can do it, honey."

"Johan!"

"What is it, dear?"

"Shut up, dammit!"

"Aaahh!!"

Mary screams as she pushes, trying to give birth.

"He's here! Congratulations, ma'am, it's a boy."

Nurse Joy says, now holding the baby in her arms.

MC POV

"Waah waah!" (Where am I?)

I wonder as I try to look around with my vision still a bit blurry.

'What kind of place is this? So, I really was reborn?'

Still adapting to my new situation, I start reflecting on where I am.

Looking around the room again, I see the nurse.

'Oh, a Nurse Joy cosplayer. No, wait! Oh! My! God! Could it be?!'

Still euphoric and full of expectations, I feel the nurse lift me up and hand me over to what looks like a pink, chubby, oval-shaped creature.

'A Chansey!'

I think, staring at the cute creature.

"Chansey, can you take care of the baby and clean him up?"

Nurse Joy says as she hands me over to Chansey.

"Chansey, chan."

After handing me to Chansey, Nurse Joy approached those who I assume are my new parents.

"The baby was born healthy. Have you decided on a name for him yet, sir and ma'am?"

Nurse Joy asks.

"Yes, Joy. Can you tell her, honey?"

The woman responds with a tired voice.

"Of course, dear. This child will overcome everything in his path, so his name will be Victor, Victor Black."

The man responds, filled with great expectations for his son's future.

"That's a beautiful name, Mr. Black."

Nurse Joy says, complimenting the baby's name.

'Victor Black, huh. So that's my new name.'

Suddenly, a noise came from the bushes, snapping me out of my memories.

~Swosh~Swosh~Swosh~

A shadow moves quickly through the foliage. Alarmed, the boy quickly turns toward the source of the sound. Watching the bush move, he slowly approaches.

"Hello? Is someone there?"

I ask, already suspecting who it might be, as I slowly approach the bush.

Observing the bush, I see a small, brown, squirrel-like creature: a Sentret.

"So it's you, little guy. How's your training going?"

I ask, recognizing him as the Sentret I've been training for some time.

"SentretSenSentret!"

"Oh, so you managed to master two of the four moves I taught you earlier?"

I ask, surprised, as some of those moves were quite difficult for Sentret to learn. In addition, I had taught him a few moves he learned in previous generations but that were forgotten in later ones.

"Sen sent."

He replies, puffing out his chest with pride.

"Good job, little guy. Can you show me which moves you've mastered?"

I ask as I pet his head.

Hearing this, Sentret immediately runs off towards one of the trees. Watching him stand in front of the tree, I notice a blue, icy energy quickly gathering in his paw. With the energy fully charged, he delivers a swift punch to the tree.

The tree shakes slightly, showing the power behind the strike. At the spot where Sentret hit, ice crystals begin to form, indicating that the freezing effect of Ice Punch has been triggered.

"Great job, Sentret! I knew you'd learner it."

I quickly praise him, as mastering this move without the necessary resources shows Sentret's talent and effort in learning new moves.

"Sent, Sent, Sent!"

Feeling excited, the little guy starts dancing, thrilled by the compliment.

"Can you show me the other move?"

I ask with anticipation, as out of the four moves I tried to teach Sentret, besides Ice Punch, the others were only learned in previous generations.

"Sentret, Sent."

He replies, concentrating. Soon, dark energy strands gather in his paws, which he begins rubbing together until a blue glow envelops his body and then quickly fades away.

"Hone Claws! Hahahahaha! It really works!"

The discovery makes me jump for joy because this changes everything. Even though it might take time and require some special methods, this will be a huge advantage, both on my path as a trainer and as a breeder.

'All the time spent studying was finally worth it.'

Giving Sentret a strong hug, I think about all the work I put into searching for books and gaining knowledge about Pokémon breeding.

"As a reward, what would you like to eat, Sentret?"

I ask as I look at the cute Sentret in my arms.

"Sent?"

He asks, looking at me with curious eyes.

"Hmm... how about a Rage Candy Bar? They're really tasty."

I reply, placing him on the ground and taking my backpack off. Opening the backpack, I pull out a few Rage Candy Bars for him.

As I open one and give it to him to try, I see little stars sparkling in his eyes as he tastes it.

"So, is it good?"

I ask, laughing as I see his cheeks puffed up as much as possible while he tries to eat as fast as he can.

"Sent, Sent."

He quickly nods to answer but immediately goes back to eating.

"Hehehehehe, it's okay, just eat slower, little guy. No one's going to take it from you."

I say as I stand up and grab the camera to photograph him.

Looking at the hilarious picture of Sentret with his cheeks full of Rage Candy Bar, a wave of happiness washes over me.

'This life is going to be so much fun.'
