Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Steel Gate

"Routine inspection!"

Perhaps it was because the noise he had just made while controlling the wild cats and birds was really loud and attracted some people's attention, so the guards in the Red Keep temporarily increased their alert.

After all, we are now on the eve of a coup, and everyone in the eye of the storm is on high alert.

Jon parked the cart. He had already made up his mind that if there was a possibility of being exposed, he would take the initiative to kill the guy in front of him.

"My lord, there are some filth in here. I have to move it out quickly, otherwise I will have nothing to eat."

Unexpectedly, the palace guard was unmoved and picked up one of the barrels to check. Jon knew that he could not let things go on like this, so he stepped forward and opened the barrels one by one to expose them to the palace guard's eyes.

After Jon opened the lid, a faint smell came out. The palace guards took a few steps back and took a look at the big wooden barrel.

"Open this for me too."

The barrel was not soundproof, and Ned could hear clearly what Jon said outside.

"My lord, there is a dead body in here. I think it is better not to look at it."

Corpses were often sent out of the Red Keep, and this burly palace guard was not surprised, but he still decided to take a look.

"I said, open it!"

This guy was obviously very dissatisfied with Jon's dilatory attitude.

Jon quickly agreed and opened the lid of the barrel. The palace guard went forward and saw that there was indeed a person inside. However, due to the light, he could not see the person's clothes and appearance clearly.

So he drew his sword and decided to try and see if it was a corpse.

Hearing the sound of the sword being unsheathed, Ned also became nervous. He was not sure whether he could play the role of the corpse well. Just when he clenched his teeth and prepared to take a sword attack, he heard the sound of a sword falling on the cart, followed by a rustling sound.

Because he was worried about Jon, Ned simply sat up. He saw Jon locked the palace guard's neck with his arms, and both of them fell to the ground at the same time.

Jon twisted the arm that was around the palace guard's neck suddenly. There was a dull sound of broken bones, and the palace guard's eyes widened and bulged outward.

I saw his feet kicking the ground twice, and soon he died.

In order to leave no trace, Jon threw the enemy's weapons and corpses into a wooden barrel, and finally pushed the three or four hundred kilograms of cart out of the gate of the Red Keep.

Through the gap between the barrel and its lid, Ned looked at the tall Red Keep. He had never expected that he would leave in this way.

Jon carefully controlled the cart, walked down from Aegon's High Hill, and stopped in a secluded place.

He opened the lid of the barrel and helped Ned out.

Although the big wooden barrel was cleaned, the things inside it were not so clean, so Ned could not breathe normally in the barrel.

When he was helped down by Jon, he took two long breaths of fresh air.

"Which door should we go through?"

"Go through the Dragon Gate."

"But Joffrey ordered earlier that we can only go through the King's Gate or the Steel Gate."

Jon remembered that he had only been in the Dragon Palace in the Red Keep for less than two days, and Emperor Jon actually took advantage of this time to issue a decree.

But he clearly remembered that he would only have such power after succeeding to the throne and becoming king. It seemed that they had already begun preparing for a coup.

"Then let's go to the Steel Gate first, and then we can choose land or water according to the situation."

"good."

Ned nodded, and the two men reached an agreement.

Jon carried him across the riverbank to a patch of tall grass.

"Please wait a moment, my lord. I will get a horse."

Jon had no idea who had taken his horse away a long time ago, and the reason he chose not to let others take care of his horse was because this would help him cover his whereabouts.

A man who takes his horse away certainly doesn't want anyone to know where his horse came from, so Jon's whereabouts can be hidden.

But they needed to leave now, and he had to get at least one more horse, otherwise it would be dawn by the time they reached the steel gate.

Not to mention he wanted to rescue Aria and Sansa.

Soon Ned saw Jon leading two horses. After Jon helped him onto the horses, he asked:

"Where did you get the horse?"

"Attracted."

Jon answered without hesitation.

"lead?"

Ned thought that the so-called "leading" might be "stealing", but now was not the time to blame Jon.

And the 'lead' that Jon mentioned was real. Relying on the affinity between himself and the animal gained from using the Meng Huo Experience Card three times, he just stuffed a few handfuls of beans into the horse's mouth and led it out.

The two men rode away quickly. Jon was worried that Ned's leg injury might at least make it inconvenient for him, but he underestimated Ned's horsemanship. Although it was not as free and agile as before, it was not a big problem.

In order to avoid attracting other people's attention as much as possible, they had to slow down when they reached crowded places. The journey that originally took more than 20 minutes took almost an hour.

Jon was thrilled as they passed through the steel gates guarded by the 'Red Robes', or soldiers from the West.

His long journey was worth it and finally changed Ned's fate. In his opinion, the future direction of the situation will definitely be rewritten.

With his prestige, Ned will gather the armies of the North, the Vale and the Riverlands.

Renly, through his marriage to the Tyrells, was able to lead the armies of the Reach and the Stormlands.

When it's five against one, there's no way we can lose with the dragon riding on our faces.

However, Stannis has the service of the Red Woman, and her shadow magic may be a variable...

Now is not the time to think about these things. Soon after Jon brought Ned out, he found Todd and others. Todd and others, who had been waiting here for almost two days, had already become ants on the hot pan.

If they hadn't had a shred of rationality left, they would have wanted to rush in directly. Now that they finally saw Ned again, most of the pressure in everyone's heart was instantly relieved.

"My Lord!"

"My lord, are you okay?"

"My Lord!"

...

A group of Northern soldiers helped Ned down from his horse and looked at Jon with admiration and gratitude. Sneaking into the Red Keep was not an easy task at all, but Jon not only sneaked into the Red Keep but also brought a living person out. This was simply incredible.

"You take good care of Lord Stark. I will go back and bring Sansa and the others out."

"I'll go with you!"

Todd stood up and said

But Jon shook his head.

"Didn't I tell you that you were all in King's Landing the other day? It would be troublesome if someone recognized you. Why don't you exchange your horses with me?"

Jon's performance once again impressed Ned. Jon is not only bold and daring, but also thoughtful and meticulous. If Lyanna knew that she has such an outstanding son, she would definitely be proud.

But now he was a little worried. If Jon had any inappropriate thoughts because of his identity, it would be troublesome.

If it were before, he only needed to give him a small fiefdom, or even no fiefdom at all, and just agreed to let him inherit the Stark surname, he would be very satisfied. But now he didn't know how big Jon's appetite was.

Jon had no idea what Ned was thinking. He quickly jumped on his horse and left without looking back.
