Chapter 034 - Result?

Hisagi had been thrown backward by the shockwave, and half of his body had suffered severe burns from overusing his power, which he clearly could not keep under control.

Boom!

The barrier created by the cursed spirits that had emerged from the darkness failed to hold. Immediately, a cracking sound echoed before the magical barrier disappeared.

The explosion that followed was like the sun had detonated.

All the cursed spirits, who appeared to be Hantengu's subordinates, couldn't believe what they were witnessing at that moment.

"Lord Hantengu?" The demons watched as the attack seemed to have claimed the life of the cursed spirit who had attacked Hisagi, using up half of his remaining cursed and spiritual energy reserves.

Hantengu's aura flickered in the massive crack that struck the ground. Many gazed at the bloody hole in his chest, burning with orange flames, as his body slowly withered. Blood gushed from the wound, but instead of looking like blood, it resembled magma.

No one could believe that those powerful orange flames couldn't be extinguished by any means.

"How is this possible..." Hantengu, slumped in a crevice, used his hand to touch the blood flowing from his wound before murmuring some incomprehensible words. Suddenly, recalling his chances, he frowned as he realized there weren't many scenarios in which he survived.

"He's just a young sorcerer..."

"How did he hide such monstrous strength?"

At that moment, cursed energy surged from Hantengu's body. A fierce glow reflected the bloodlust in his eyes. Clearly, he had been gravely injured by Hisagi's brutal attack, and the fire on his body still could not be extinguished.

Hisagi, who was motionless in the dreamlike haze, gazed at Hantengu with no emotion on his face. His right hand, the one that had unleashed a powerful attack, was heavily burned.

"I'll kill you!" Hantengu was about to boast when his pupils dilated. Hisagi, who hadn't spoken a word, formed a new attack with the flames still burning on the edge of his sword and raised it with difficulty, pointing it at Hantengu, who had just managed to stand.

Hantengu shuddered as he saw those flames gathering at the tip of Hisagi's sword. After all, he couldn't understand why the sorcerer's attacks had suddenly become so fierce, so suddenly. The other cursed spirits who had been watching only observed the amount of cursed energy that a special-grade sorcerer could easily possess.

At that moment, after enduring so many injuries, how was it possible for Hisagi to still be willing to fight?

The blood-smelling magma flowed constantly from Hantengu's chest. His eyes were dark as he waved his hand. Immediately, the blood on the ground surged like blades, wrapping around him and hiding his body.

"Human, you should stop putting on this show. Although that previous attack was extremely powerful, you're on the brink of collapse, and I'm sure this time you won't be able to use it continuously. Therefore, regardless of what you do today, I'll kill you, and then I'll kill every human around this area." Hovering slightly, Hantengu emerged from the crater as his sinister voice echoed across the battlefield.

Meanwhile, Hisagi, seeing all that darkness, couldn't pinpoint his enemy's location. Clearly, this foe was powerful, but his greatest attribute was his cunning. After being effectively attacked, he dared not be careless.

"Everyone, at my command, attack with me and eliminate this sorcerer." A fierce shout was emitted from the shroud of darkness. To kill Hisagi, it seemed Hantengu had no choice but to call for help from the remaining cursed spirits still alive.

Hisagi's gaze showed not the slightest hesitation. He knew he would kill this self-proclaimed cursed spirit Hantengu before even considering losing his life.

Hisagi waved his hand before the demons moved. Meanwhile, his eyes flickered rapidly. Hantengu was right. That previous attack had been very exhausting and had severely damaged his right arm. Initially, he thought he could use that attack to kill Hantengu, but that wasn't the case. It seemed he had underestimated the demon.

Moreover, with his current control over the flames, there was no way he could unleash the full power of his Shikai. Even if he couldn't release all of his power, he couldn't use it freely. All he could do now was have his puppets fight, buy time, and see how far he could heal his wounds to use that attack again.

However, during that time, he wasn't sure if his puppets would be able to stop the demons.

"Kill them!"

While Hisagi thought about this, explosive sounds filled with killing intent echoed from the other side of the darkness. Shortly after, several beams of light struck them.

Hisagi was about to move, but at that moment, a calm voice sounded behind him: "You should rest first..."

"Who?"

The priest, who was a Yokai, suddenly appeared in the middle of the battlefield, holding a round orb in his left hand. He muttered some words, and then a golden light, repelling the demonic aura, burst forth in that place. But without stopping, he waved his hand, and Hisagi's exhausted body began to heal.

"How strong are you?" Hisagi realized that this Yokai was far from ordinary, so trusting him, he immediately knew that this was the opportunity mentioned in the book.

The priest looked at Hisagi and said, "I see you still have cursed energy within you, but facing them won't be a path from which we can emerge alive."

"Just keep him busy until I can fight again at full strength. My puppets will support you..." Hisagi sat on the ground and closed his eyes, concentrating his cursed energy to speed up his healing.

When Hisagi saw the cursed spirits joining the battle, he felt a bit anxious. Even though he had managed to wound a powerful demon, he didn't believe he would make it out alive, but fortunately, someone had come to support him.

The priest observed Hisagi's wounds—those horrible burn marks, cuts, curses, and stabs were something not just anyone could withstand.

"Damn cursed spirits, how dare you cross our borders and hope to kill whomever you please?" But at the same time, a voice emerged from behind them.
