"Serpos?"
When Hisagi finished telling the whole story, more than twenty minutes had passed. He was obviously more detailed about certain things that were necessary to mention, but once he finished, that last word lingered on many people's lips.
Now, the next step was to believe everything Hisagi had narrated with such detail.
"Is that all?"
Hisagi frowned, and after holding back his anger, he said, "That's everything that happened that night."
'Is that all? Damn idiots, what do they expect me to tell them?'
Without a doubt, these people were strange; they expected more, but they had never encountered a battle like the one Hisagi had to fight that night.
"What's your cursed technique?" This question was quite personal, which made everyone tense for a moment.
Hisagi looked toward the source of the sound, felt that aura, and said, "Fire…"
"Fire?"
"A fire that can extinguish everything on earth. This fire is within me to purify the impure and exterminate what shouldn't be among us. Whether cursed spirits, those things called Yokai or Serpos, any of them are potential targets for extermination regardless of the circumstances."
Gojo looked at the intense expression on Hisagi's face; he could sense that Hisagi wasn't satisfied with his current strength. Despite being stronger than before, he still remained modest.
Of course, Hisagi felt weak; he wouldn't consider himself strong until he could wipe out cursed spirits without having to use his flames.
Only when he was strong enough not to bleed would he know that he had reached the top of this world, a point where he could decide to exterminate all cursed spirits with his own hands, one by one, without rest—unless he discovered a way to do so without using force.
Just as Gojo wanted, he would reform the entire world of sorcery to make it simpler, where it wouldn't take more than half an hour of explanation for the elders to understand a point that even he still didn't fully grasp.
"If these things called Serpos are neither cursed spirits nor Yokai, then I'm afraid they're not our problem."
"They're kidnapping humans to leave their seed in this world. If we let something like this slide, once those creatures' plans come to fruition, a large-scale invasion will follow."
This was the reality. If they were invaded, chaos would increase, which would be perfect for cursed spirits to gain power like never before.
Fear, panic, anger—all that chaos was perfect for the birth of cursed spirits, and a situation they currently had under control would spiral into chaos.
"Should we focus on a problem that doesn't require it and weaken our strongholds? We already have enough to deal with, with the births of strong cursed spirits. We don't have the resources to spread ourselves this thin."
Hisagi then interrupted everyone and said, "You can leave that mission to me while I fulfill my duties as a sorcerer. I believe I can handle it."
"You? No, your power is too destructive."
"That's the flaw of the strong. I'll teach my student how to fight without blowing up a city. But as you don't know, we are not responsible if the threat is greater than what our basic abilities can handle." This time, Gojo intervened in the conversation, making his position clear.
Excessively destructive power? If Gojo were to compare Hisagi's power to his own, both would be on a different scale from any other sorcerer.
"What we want is for destruction like the last battle not to happen in the middle of a city." The voice sounded quite annoyed with Gojo, but it never disrespected him.
Hisagi noticed that this wasn't respect—it was fear.
The whole world would be lost if Gojo decided to take a path that wouldn't benefit humanity. After all, they were on the winning side thanks to him.
"So, if everything is settled, I'll take my student, who looks exhausted." Gojo dragged Hisagi by the shoulders and pushed him toward the exit.
Once they were outside, Hisagi stretched his arms and asked, "Do you believe me?"
"Of course I believe you. But from now on, you need to stop being so honest with those old men. It's not beneficial for them to know everything, especially what you just said." Gojo spoke in a more serious tone and said, "Those geezers won't do anything about it."
