Late at night, Sam was having dinner with Kevin, as both have not met each other for more than a month.
Kevin got the job as the assistant cinematographer for another movie because the original assistant got high on drugs, so he was dismissed, and Kevin has been on that set ever since.
Kevin: "It's really fun to be working with a DoP (director of photography), and as his assistant, I can also watch the process of lens adjusting with different types of lighting, coloring, and background."
Sam patiently listened to Kevin's rambling until they finished eating and asked him to rest at his house tonight and go back tomorrow, as Sam knew that he might have been tired of staying at the set for a whole month.
Early next morning, Sam dropped off Kevin at his house and went to his office while calling Elijah to be there for a meeting.
In his office, Sam was sitting on the chair, rhythming a certain tune with his fingers on the desktop while calculating the profits that he might receive from the movie, which was roughly about 10-11 millions after deducting theater split as well as half of the profit sharing with the Big E studios.
A few minutes later, Elijah comes inside the office room with a mysterious smile on his face and tells Sam about finding him a new assistant whom he knows long ago.
Sam looked curiously at the door to see that which acquaintance that might of his that Elijah was so mysterious about.
The door opened, and a young woman with delicate features, which were different from typical western women, and a light blonde entered the door with a smile on her face.
Sam was surprised and felt a bit weird to see her here; he stood up and asked, "Is that you, Claire, right?"
Yes, the girl who entered the office was none other than Claire Rolex, the daughter of his uncle Charles, who was studying at Harvard University in New York.
Claire laughed seeing his reaction, as she was expecting it, while Elijah sighed helplessly and took out a five hundred dollar note from his purse and gave it to Claire reluctantly.
Elijah and Claire made a bet that what kind of reaction will Sam have after seeing Claire? Elijah thought that after observing Sam for a few months he knew that Sam was a stable person with limited reactions to any situation that might occur, as he watched that even while filming, Sam was always calm and praised or scolded the crew, actors, and set members appropriately, which was impressive, or so he thought.
Looking at the antics of the two people in front of him, Sam was growing impatient and repeated the question once again.
Claire cleared her throat. "Didn't my father tell you that I was doing a graduation project? My project was to study the Hollywood talent agencies and summarize its history, present, and future aspects in the film industry as the thesis."
"And Elijah is like a big brother to me, so he has been helping me with collecting the papers related to these agencies, and a while ago, I heard him saying that you were looking for an assistant, so I volunteered."
Sam took a deep look at her, wanting to find any loopholes in her words, but she looked at him resolutely without flinching.
Sam shook his head and signaled her to take a seat. He stares at Elijah with a questing look on his face and asks him to speak up and spill all the beans.
Then Elijah tells him everything from the start: his father is an old client and a good buddy of Charles, and he too knows Charles and their family; as such, Charles recommends Sam to him as his old star client left him.
Elijah, "A few months ago, Charles called and recommended your profile to me and told me to follow up on you and your work."
"Then I researched you and thought that you might be worth investing my time in, and here we are. As for Claire, she heard my conversation from some colleagues about finding you an assistant, but she was adamant about becoming your assistant, and I brought her here."
Sam nodded hearing his explanation and asked Claire why she wanted to become his assistant.
Claire thought about it and told him that she just wants to experience some time following him as an intern before starting her own business.
Although she can go to any one of the Fortuner 500 companies, that did not interest her.
Then Sam told her if Uncle Charles has no problem, then he will hire her as his secretary/assistant.
Chaire pouted with a puff. "I am not a young girl anymore, and I can take my own responsibility."
Sam nodded and smiled wilyly. "Okay, Miss mature lady, then I will hire you as my intern assistant."
Then Sam gathered his thoughts and inquired to Elijah about the matter of selling those sequels.
"Currently many companies have shown their interest in acquiring these sequels, but in my experience most of them are skeptical about the movie without your direction," replied Elijah.
"We should hurry up and sell them completely, as I don't have much time to spare for this."
"And I want you and Claire to help me in setting up this studio formally, as we will need a general manager, production manager, and distribution manager, as well as some other department to make this shell look like a real company."
After saying all these, Sam took a glass of water and drank to moisten his throat.
