Outside Sam's house
After saying goodbye to both Kevin and Elijah, Sam returned to his house and called uncle Charles to help him send a reliable lawyer to follow him for meeting with those two Studios as well as let that lawyer be contracted with his studios for any legal compliances.
Sam disconnected the call after promising to call regularly to his aunt as well as having a dinner at the weekend at Charles house as Claire will also be coming on the weekend.
Looking at the clock showing 01:30 pm, he made some simple pasta and ate it with a coke.
After washing the dishes and tidying up the kitchen, he went back to his bedroom to take an afternoon nap.
4:50 pm
After washing himself up, Sam was ready going to those Studios for final discussion and while he was descending the stairs, door bell rang.
Opening the door, he was a man who maybe was four-five years older than him.
"Hello, I am Jason and Mister Charles send me here as a contracted lawyer for your studio as well as me being your personal lawyer". Said Jason Buttler enthusiastically.
Jason Buttler is happy today because he's going to have a personal client of his own now that his internship is finally over.
As he was an intern at Charles firm for three years and now it is his chance to shine because, his dream is to become the best lawyer in Hollywood.
Looking at the enthusiastic guy in front of him, Sam was having a headache because what he hates the most is having a contact with this type of guys.
Sam nodded and invited Jason in the house while on the other hand, he called Charles on the telephone and informed him that the lawyer sent by him has arrived.
Five minutes later as they both got into Sam's car and made their way through the traffic in los Angeles to arrive at the destination which is big E studios.
Arriving there, he saw Elijah waiting for him at the entrance of the studios, after parking the car he meet up with Elijah while discussed about the upcoming meeting with the producer Philips who was interested in their script.
Elijah also informed him about Philips past movie selections and told him that he had two back to back flops films under him.
So if Sam had the idea to invest in this film,a partnership with Philips would be a good way as he would also want to share the risks with someone else.
And if that guy didn't invest then they would go to another studios,Sam was impressed with Elijah of having thoughtful for everything.
Big E studios was a typical third tier studio with limited distribution capabilities as all of them are the same.
Third tier studios have the capabilities of distribution on the either side of the coast, meaning which ever coast they are situated, the distribution capabilities are higher while on the other side of the coast they have contracted with their pier tier three studios from the opposite side of the coast for the distribution.
Walking up to the reception table, Elijah asked the receptionist for the direction to the producer Philips office.
*Knock*knock*
"Please come in", Without lifting his head Philips, who was working on some papers replied as he already knew who was coming because receptionist had already given him the heads up on telecom.
Sam and his group of three enters the office and each takes a seat in front of Philips.
A moments later, Philips closed the file and said with a smile," Good evening mr. Elijah and Sam, I am Philips Watson one of the producer of this studio ".
Sam nodded with a smile while Elijah replied, "Good evening mr. Philips, how are you doing?".
After having some candid talks both of them started about the formal meeting.
Philips, "So Sam, can I call you that?so why did you rejected our offer?".
Sam with a calm smile, "I did not reject it, it's just that I want to have a formal audition as this is my first time filming a movie formally and I don't want to have misshup of any type".
Philips eyes twinkled, "good, good, so you have that kind of awareness so I don't have to worry about my investment will not be in vain if you have this kind of thinking".
So there was not any type called inserting people into staring actor, as it was just a way that Philips wanted to test Sam because last two movies in which he invested, both of them have failed to recoup even in videotape market.
So he doesn't want to take any more chances of failure and he must have an beautiful next movie and that's where he stumbled upon the script of 'laugh in mayhem ' from a friend who (knew Elijah)recommended to him.
Sam then summarised the whole story as well as gave Philips the storyboard draft which he has been working for more than three days prior.
"This is the story of four friends living their college lives, two among who are having a fifth time in their senior year while other two have just entered their senior class. Among the characters of four the guys , oldest one is tough and short tempered guy, second one is quirky and full of bad ideas, third one is timid and fearful guy and is also a walking and talking translator of the last guy while the last one is a mute guy who is also a bit of temperamental".
"There are also two old folks, a hot and sexy girl as well as a local gang chasing for money, well these is all about casting the crew and the shooting location is also simple as we just need a big bungalow or small manor, and a few out the field shooting", with that Sam finished his summary.
A few minutes later, Philips put down the story board and said, "that's all good and we can also approve a million dollar budget to invest in the film as well as your $100,000 director's fee and extra $50,000 for buying your script".
Sam, "that all good but i also have a request to invest 30-40% in the film by my studio for which i will just take $1 for director's as well as for script".
Philips laughed ,"You will go at the very end in this field if this movie is a success", said and looked meaningfully at Sam.
