28 February 1992;
Sam woke up early in the morning, it is a very exciting day for him today, as he was finally going to start filming his first movie.
After washing up and eating the breakfast, he made his way with Kevin beside him to the location agreeed upon by the crew.
The shooting locations are set at 3 places including silver lake bungalows, mango studios as well as some outside shooting required in the script.
Arriving at silver Lake bungalow, Sam meets up with the rest of the crew as well as Andrew and cinematographer guy Chris recommended by him.
Sam told Kevin," from today up to the finishing of the film, you will assist Andrew in his work and try to learn as much as possible, it will a valuable opportunity for you".
Kevin nodded his head seriously, as he knows that, this is an opportunity not many people can get in their lifetime while he got it because his friend is a director and investor.
Sam then shares his idea with the crew about the sequences of the shooting, while everyone else gets ready for the first scene.
While filming the movies, the shooting is always done according to location, actor's condition, weather and many other factors and making the finished film very different from the actual shooting.
The actors have to laugh in one scene and cry at another, sometimes they have act funny at the same time cry, this is the real essence of an actor for performance.
Sam, Andrew and Chris who were standing at the centre of the set, having a conversation with lighting master about the effects they needed.
After a while, Sam comes back to the director's seat and fiddles with the old 2x2 screen watching the lighting effect.
Elijah looked around and saw that everything was perfect around the set,
He walked up to Sam and said," do you need an assistant, as you will become more busy while filming, which may affect your diet and thinking, so you might need someone to keep record for your itinerary".
Sam thought for a second and nodded in agreement as he will become increasingly busy from now on.
Elijah took note of this and talks with Sam for a few moment and leaves the set.
After that, Sam got busy with his shooting while Elijah also went back to his office.
The reason why Elijah took great care of Sam was because, having a director client means, you can have more resources at your disposal.
Many times, an agent can also insert some newcomers in the film, and if an agent have a famous director as a client then his commission might even be a hefty amount.
Back at the set, Sam was sharing his ideas with Chris about camera adjustment, as he knew exactly what camera effects and angles he needs.
Sam also talked with the four protagonists and made them understand their characters better.
When a director understands the script and conveys his ideas to the actors, it also makes it easier for the actor to perform better as they know what the director might expect from them.
As the first day of shooting, all the main actors of the movie were present, as to show their faces to the director as well as understand the filming process of the crew.
After that, the shooting starts with the some normal scene where the four protagonists sneaks into the bungalow of some elderly people.
Starting a movie with some easy scene makes the progress of next filming very smooth and fluent.
Philips stood aside and watched how Sam had the control of whole crew perfectly like some veteran director and felt at ease.
Although a million dollar budget might be nothing compared to those big Productions but for him, producing a movie after 2 flops, he is also in tremendous amount of tension.
After watching for a while, Philips reassuringly went back to his office while asked his assistant to help Sam when needed.
The filming went quite well as there were not much NGs (not good scene) which wastes too much rolls.
Shooting wraps up at about 5 o'clock in the evening according the law of United States, also not much action happened but the first day shooting went well.
Sam was also satisfied with the actors and the crew, he didn't have to shout too many times at the set as the crew synchronisation went well.
Many times, the process of making a movie can be lengthy and tiring as sometimes lighting is not good enough or sometimes the crew makes frequent mistakes as well as the bad shape of actors while filming.
In early 90's, Hollywood movies were filmed with large and bulky cameras, which used big black rolls for the recording.
Then Sam asked Andrew to put the roll safely back at the locker room which was a fire proof place, as film rolls are prone to catch fire very quickly.
Sam called and told Philips about finishing today's work as well as matter of putting the film roll at the locker room.
After finishing all this, Sam said goodbye to everybody and went home, as for the rest of the work, it was Andrew's job as the assistant director.
