Chapter 30 - Spirit Egg

Waking up, because he had the long rest of yesterday, Jake decided to get up even earlier. This was of course to talk with Chad more. Every time Jake went to the gym it was the exact time Chad was leaving. Although he said he was an office worker, Jake was truly complex about his schedule.

Before he left, he naturally had to look at his rewards.

Description: Look around the world, find 8 unique places, and interact with them.

Places Found: 8 / 8

Reward: Wheel Ticket>

Watching as the ticket materialized, Jake had a happy expression, "Gimme something that can make money. Gimme something that can make money." Crossing his fingers he prayed he could get a money-making opportunity.

The wheel began spinning and soon landed on a color. It was the color white, and in front of Jake, a page appeared.

Item: Spirit Egg

Description: This egg has unknown origins, but when it hatches, it will become subservient to whoever bonds with it through blood.>

Looking at the description, Jake was shocked. "Am I finally given a pet?" But what was this spirit beast? Jake had no idea what to think of it, but all he could do was wait. Looking around, he found a small pocket knife of his. Thinking about cutting himself, Jake had a scared expression. Taking a deep breath though, he slowly took it and made a little hole in his finger as he winced in pain. Breathing heavily, he watched as it dropped onto the egg.

When the blood hit the egg, a slight glow emanated before returning to normal. The only thing that seemed to change was that the egg looked a little yellow. "Does this guy take blood to hatch?" Jake originally thought that it was just a bond-forming ritual like in his novels, but it seemed he had to nurture it with his blood.

Thinking about all the blood he would have to lose and the pain it would cause made his expression grim. He was never injured much in his life. He's actually never fought anyone, never broken a bone or twisted an ankle, so to bear the pain of this made him a little scared. He also thought about this when he first trained his sword but he has told himself if the time comes he won't back down.

Of course that is only to be proven when the time comes. At the moment though it seems this will only be one of many barriers Jake will have to face.

The size of egg was about the size of a dodgeball as Jake hid it in the covers of his bed. Since it was a special egg and only hatched with blood, Jake made sure to keep it safe in case something were to happen.

With that though he looked at the new quest.

Description: Lift a total of 1,500 pounds.

Pounds Lifted: 0 / 1,500

Reward: 100 SP>

Looking at the quest, Jake sighed. "It seems like this may be the new pattern of the quest system." Although he had hoped to get more wheel tickets, it seems they might be growing rarer.

Leaving the house though, he quickly arrived at the gym. It was about an hour earlier than when he usually came so he was excited to see Chad.

Walking in, he was surprised the lean guy at the counter was there. It seemed all of the employees had weird schedules too.

On the gym floor, he saw a few fewer people but was happy to see Chad working out. Jake looked and seemed to see Viktor was not there, but he didn't care much as he greeted Chad.

Seeing Jake, Chad was surprised, "You came so early!" Jake nodded and asked if he would be free to watch some of his training. Looking at his watch Chad nodded, "I can watch some of it but don't worry, I can always watch the other half another time."

Nodding, Jake felt grateful. He never knew anyone who would sacrifice their time to help him with stuff. This was all because he had an odd goal that made Chad interested. Of course, Chad was just an overall great guy, thus he would do similar stuff for other people it's just not as much as Jake.

With that, Jake followed his routine. He got to the end of his arms workout before Chad had to go. "Yes, I see a lot of things more clearly now. I already have some ideas, but I don't want to give any guidance yet until I see your sword exercises. I am also curious about what they could be." With that, Jake could only let Chad leave as he missed out on his sword training.

After it was all finished, he checked his daily quest. It was unsurprising but he had actually completed it fairly easily. Although 1,500 pounds was a lot, just for his bench, he had already reached close to 170 pounds. Adding onto the fact with all of his sets included he was lifting it thirty times, it had way surpassed the goal just in that exercise alone. "Tsk, no wonder the reward is so low."

With that out of the way, he went home and prepared himself for the graduation practice. Putting on some decent clothes, he looked in the mirror with wonder. "Within a week, I seem to have transformed into a different person. Looking at his appearance Jake was dumbfounded.

Before he worked out, Jake looked to only be a little over 5 foot 9, but because he started working out his back, he gained height, now looking like he was close to 6 feet. His slouched back was now no longer a thing, and although he still had some fat, it was negligible as Jake's chest was starting to grow wider. Coupled with his arms gaining muscle he was starting to look more like an athlete. Of course, Jake knew he was far from where he wanted to be. However, this change was nevertheless very exciting for Jake.

He had never cared about his facial hair or even his haircut, making it seem pretty messy, but after finding a nice barbershop during his exploration yesterday, he went there this morning and trimmed himself up. With his face still chubby, Jake decided to keep the beard but have it trimmed up considerably, and finally his hair was not much shorter and was much neater.

Jake had to even bring out some cash to buy special shampoos and conditioners to help his hair even more. "If only the wheel would give me something to make my hair perfect." He naturally was not that fond of having to do his hair, but on days like this where he can show off he wanted to take the time. Although this wasn't graduation as that was still a few days away, he was still very excited to see everyone's expression when seeing him. Thinking of his friends' shocked faces he laughed in excitement.
