Chapter 50 - Chapter 23: Exchange for Senzu Beans

After hearing about the items John wanted to purchase, Bulma immediately lost interest. She instructed the company to send someone to accompany John for shopping, ensuring everything was packed into storage capsules before handing them over to him.

Once he received the capsule box, John bid farewell to Bulma and flew back to Korin Tower.

Upon John's return, Master Karin's eyes lit up with excitement as he anxiously asked, "So, how did it go? Did you get everything? Where is it?"

John chuckled at Master Karin's eagerness and replied, "I've got everything; it's all in this capsule box."

Master Karin took the capsule box from John and curiously remarked, "Is this a capsule? What a magical item! Such a small thing can hold so much."

John opened the capsules one by one to show Master Karin the items he needed while also helping set up additional living supplies he had procured for him.

Looking at his transformed home, Master Karin nodded in satisfaction and took out a jar containing Senzu Beans. He asked John, "What do you want to use to store the Senzu Beans?"

John quickly produced a small storage box using a capsule.

Without weighing them, Master Karin generously poured more than half of the Senzu Beans into John's storage box.

Master Karin meaningfully told John, "Make sure to use the Senzu Beans wisely; they can do more than just fill your stomach."

John happily accepted the storage box and thanked Master Karin, saying, "Thank you, Master Karin! I will definitely make good use of the Senzu Beans."

Seeing that John understood the effects of the Senzu Beans, Master Karin nodded in satisfaction.

With their transaction complete, John said goodbye to Master Karin and returned to West City.

However, as John contemplated where to hide the Senzu Beans, he hesitated. It seemed Earth might face destruction in the future; where should he hide them?

Ultimately, John decided against hiding them for now. Instead, he would use the Senzu Beans along with the Saiyan trait of significantly increasing strength after near-death experiences for his training.

If he became strong enough, he wouldn't need the Senzu Beans at all.

Returning to Bulma's home again, John noticed that the gravity training chamber was not yet fully designed. Clearly, young Bulma wasn't as capable as she would be in her adulthood.

Watching John loiter around her lab all day made Bulma angry. She shouted, "Didn't you say it would take four or five months to make? Are you bored? If you're bored, go bang your head against a wall!"

Bulma's sudden outburst startled John, making him too afraid to speak. He could only leave her lab feeling wronged.

With no other choice, John decided to train on his own for a while.

One day while training in Bulma's garden, John suddenly realized an issue. During this time—especially after drinking the Ultra Divine Water—his power had skyrocketed. However, this also led to a problem: his energy was now extremely volatile. While he could unleash it completely without issue, executing precise movements became difficult due to its wildness.

This was especially true when trying to focus his energy; the chaotic energy made it impossible for him to calm his mind completely.

Thus, before the gravity chamber was completed, John needed to balance his body and energy.

He sat cross-legged on Bulma's rooftop and began meditating to calm his surging energy.

Time passed slowly until one day a voice rang out at Bulma's door: "Bulma!"

John opened his eyes and saw Goku had come over. He immediately understood that the plot had progressed to this point; Goku was about to confront the world's number one assassin, Tao Pai Pai.

However, since John had altered the storyline like this, Upa's father Bora should no longer be killed—he thought.

John jumped down from the roof and landed in front of Goku. "Hey, Goku."

Goku greeted him happily and asked, "John! I didn't expect you to be at Bulma's place!"

John explained: "Did you forget? My home is also in West City. But my house is too small for training. Recently I asked Bulma to help me make a training machine; that's why I'm staying here."

"By the way, weren't you looking for the Four-Star Dragon Ball? Why are you here now?"

"Oh! My Dragon Radar broke down; I wanted to find Bulma to fix it. Is she home?" Goku pulled out his broken Dragon Radar.

"Bulma is in her lab; I'll take you there," John replied.

Afterward, John politely greeted a nearby police officer who had brought Goku over and thanked him for delivering Goku safely.

The officer awkwardly said, "Um... my vehicle has been running a bit slow lately; could I ask Dr. Briefs for help?"

"Oh! In that case, no problem; come on in!" John invited him inside.

The three then walked together toward Bulma's house. As they walked, Goku exclaimed, "Wow! Bulma's house is really big!"

At that moment, Bulma and Dr. Briefs came out to greet them upon learning Goku had arrived. Dr. Briefs immediately recognized the officer standing next to John and grabbed his hand excitedly: "Ah! You must be Goku! I didn't expect you to be so big! Bulma told me you were still young!"

The officer felt awkward and replied: "I'm sorry Dr. Briefs; I'm not that Goku you're talking about."

At that moment Goku looked up at Dr. Briefs and said: "Uncle! I'm Goku!"

"Ah! So you're Goku! You really are small!" Dr. Briefs said without any embarrassment as he warmly shook Goku's hand.

Goku laughed heartily as well. Eventually, Dr. Briefs stayed behind to help fix the officer's motorcycle while Goku followed John into Bulma's lab.

While Bulma examined Goku's broken Dragon Radar, John took out his own working radar and said: "By the way, I have a good radar here; Goku can use it for now. Also towards the ocean direction is where you'll find the Three-Star Dragon Ball; I've already given it to Master Roshi for safekeeping. If you need it, you can go get it from Kame House."

Goku opened John's Dragon Radar and finally saw the blinking location of a Dragon Ball on it. He said: "Oh! If it's just a Three-Star Ball then I won't go get it; I don't have any wishes I want fulfilled anyway—I just want to find my grandpa's Four-Star Ball."
