Chapter 3 - BEGINNING OF SURVIVAL

When Fer saw the bright red grid, he frowned, as this was different from the grids of the mods. Fer lowered the mods tab with his thoughts, and as he scrolled down further, blood-red rectangles with black letters revealing information about the grids appeared.

MOD: Primal Fear: Primal Fear is a mod primarily focused on adding new dinosaurs. In this mod, you will be able to tame dinosaurs from various categories, in addition to special boss dinosaurs. The included categories are Toxics, Alphas, Apex, Fabled, Omega, Buffoon, Celestial, Demonic, Elder, and Elemental. For the bosses, the categories are Primal, Origin, and The Creator. (FOR MORE INFORMATION, ACTIVATE THE MOD)

[REQUIREMENTS TO ACTIVATE THIS MOD: NONE, IT CAN BE ACTIVATED AT ANY TIME]

Fer's pupils shrank to the size of a pin when he saw the information about the Primal Fear mod, especially the fact that it didn't require any prerequisites to activate. At the speed of light, Fer quickly exited the mods tab.

Gasp… gasp… gasp…

Fer took a deep breath a few times; he didn't want to think about accidentally activating the Primal Fear mod, so he closed the mods tab. He had seen and checked enough; it felt like he had spent a long time looking at everything related to the inventory and the mods, but in reality, only five minutes had passed, and there hadn't been much change in his surroundings.

"Now that I've confirmed that I'm in ARK SURVIVAL, it's time to get to work and start strengthening my forces as soon as possible before a dinosaur eats me. I also have to complete all the requirements to unlock the available mods," Fer said to himself as he looked around, seeing wild plants of various sizes alongside palm trees, and in the distance, the forest led into the depths of the trees and underbrush. Occasionally, strange sounds could be heard coming from deep within the forest.

After speaking to himself, Fer walked toward a nearby palm tree. He stood in front of the palm, took a deep breath, and began hitting the wood of the palm tree.

THUMP THUMP THUMP

OW OW OW

Fer's hands bled at the knuckles from each hit he delivered to the palm tree. This wasn't a game, and therefore, small wounds formed on his knuckles from the blows against the wood of the palm tree.

1 hit

2 hits

5 hits

10 hits

12 hits

With each blow, his energy dwindled more and more, and after delivering 12 blows with all his might to the palm tree, his energy was nearly depleted. Fer felt that if he hit a few more times, he would start to feel drowsy, just like in the ARK video game.

Curiously, Fer opened his inventory to see that he had only collected 8 thatch and 2 wood, and the energy bar indicated 20/100. But quickly, Fer noticed a change in his energy bar a few seconds later; the bar filled back up completely to 100/100, and as a consequence, both food and water dropped by a total of 10 points each, leaving them at 89/100 and 90/100, respectively.

Fer felt his strength returning to normal, as if nothing had happened, but he also felt that his hunger and thirst were increasing a bit. Instead of feeling down about only hitting a dozen times, Fer was very happy to realize this meant that his body was not normal and was digitized in some way. However, Fer noticed that his flesh and bones were not digitized since, after hitting the wood, his knuckles were bleeding, unlike in the original video game. This proved that it wasn't a video game but rather that he was in reality.

While Fer looked at the energy statistics, he noticed that at the top of the energy statistic, the numbers were constantly changing. The statistic above was health, which was now at 93.5/100, and when Fer looked last, it had been at 90/100. This meant that during the time he had stopped hitting the palm tree and checked the energy statistics, he had recovered 3.5 health points in just a few seconds.

This demonstrated that his health recovery was indeed digitized compared to his health. This was a great surprise and joy. If the health regeneration were like the health that had not been digitized, then his problems would be very serious, and he would have to be much more careful with each step he took to avoid getting easily injured. And now that he knew this, Fer wouldn't have to worry as much and could be bolder.

After realizing this, Fer began to hit some of the surrounding palm trees harder than ever.

When Fer hit the palm tree's wood until he had enough materials to craft a stone pickaxe, he stopped to craft the stone pickaxe, which cost x1 wood, x1 stone, and x10 thatch. Fer noticed that he was missing the stone material needed to craft the pickaxe, but he didn't worry at all since there were plenty of loose stones scattered all over the ground.

Fer approached those loose stones, and with just a stretch of his hand, a faint light emitted from his implant on his right hand, and the stone at his feet went directly into his inventory. The magical part of this was that his energy was not depleted at all.

Although collecting things from the ground by just stretching his hand and not losing energy in these actions seemed quite impressive, it wasn't that impressive, as it didn't affect his actions too much and the range of collection was very short—only a few centimeters from him—saving him only a bit of physical energy.

Fer collected 5 stones in just a few seconds, then opened his inventory to craft the stone pickaxe in the crafting folder where all types of objects could be crafted once learned with the corresponding engram points.

Now he had the materials on hand to craft the stone pickaxe, and without hesitation, he clicked to craft. A stone pickaxe takes 5 seconds to make, so Fer didn't have to wait long to have the pickaxe in his hands.

When the stone pickaxe was finished, the experience bar rose to 1.6/50, and this didn't surprise Fer, who had already played over 1000 hours of ARK. Every time an object is crafted, the corresponding experience is added to the player depending on the item crafted; the more expensive the object, the more experience you receive.

Fer held the stone pickaxe firmly, noting that it was quite sturdy for just being a piece of wood and stone stuck together. He shrugged and began hitting trees again, but this time the speed of collecting wood and thatch materials increased significantly.

THUMP THUMP THUMP

+23 thatch

+10 wood

Fer quickly knocked down several trees in just a few minutes, and the efficiency was much faster than punching, and the best part was that he didn't have to hurt himself. But not everything was good; while the stone pickaxe sped up the collection process, food and water also constantly decreased every time his energy drained and refilled.

Right now, his food was at the dangerous level of 30/100 and his water at 25/100. When Fer saw this, he frowned and stopped his actions of collecting wood and thatch. He looked around, and when he saw the plants on the ground, his eyes lit up.

Since he didn't have anything to eat at the moment, the only available food now was the berries collected from the plants. When Fer stretched out his hand towards the plant, the same thing happened as when picking up the stones from the ground; there was no energy cost as the implant glowed towards the plant, and the plant itself gradually disappeared, giving all the berries directly to his inventory after a few seconds.

+1 Mejoberry

+1 Narcoberry

After collecting the first plant, Fer didn't stop and continued gathering plants from the surroundings until he had enough berries to satisfy his hunger.

For a minute or two, Fer gathered enough berries that were now in his inventory waiting for him to eat them, and without hesitating for a moment, he summoned the berries to his hands and brought them to his mouth. Surprisingly, the flavors of these berries were quite good and delicious; they had flavors of strawberry, lemon, and blueberry.

These berries individually didn't fill much hunger; each berry filled 1.5 food points, but the good thing was that they could be easily collected and each plant produced many berries.

Fer spent a good while bringing the berries to his mouth until his hunger bar was full. Unlike in the original ARK game, he couldn't eat directly from the inventory; he had to eat as a normal person would.

After filling his stomach with berries and having the food statistic at 100/100 after waiting for a while for the fullness of the berries to fill the food bar, Fer approached the shore, crouching in the sand, and with his hands shaped like a shovel, he brought seawater to his mouth.

He took a few sips of the water, and surprisingly, this seawater was not salty at all; on the contrary, it was like normal fresh water. This occurrence wasn't as surprising compared to the events of this day.

Now that he had satisfied his dietary needs, it was time to complete the first mod.
