Chapter 96 - Golden eyes

Star was dumbfounded. "Lily, something is off. Check if you are alright," she urged, her gaze fixed on the fair spot on Lily's neck.

Lily cast her a weird look, as if to ask whether Star was alright.

Devin suddenly appeared in front of Star, stunning her.

"Hey, are you trying to frighten me to death?" Star shouted in annoyance.

"It's you," Devin muttered.

"Yeah, me, me here, me there—what's the matter?" Star rolled her eyes arrogantly.

Devin's brows knitted, and he suddenly bared his fangs at her.

"Angeles in heaven!" an alarm bell rang immediately in Star's head, and in just a blink, she was already at the entrance. "What do you think you are doing?" she questioned, her hand already on the door handle, ready to flee if anything unexpected happened.

Devin looked at her coldly and walked back to Lily's side.

"Is this guy crazy? He deliberately scared me! Really!" Star yelled in frustration, her gaze becoming icy and directed at Devin.

"Hm," Devin noticed Star's glare and looked at her with chilling eyes.

"What?" Star quickly smoothed her expression. "Please focus on your wife," she murmured.

Devin's attention returned to Lily immediately.

Star sighed. "But I'm serious, there's something off with Lily," she thought, looking at Lily's neck.

...

Afternoon.

"Beautiful sister, the herb is ready. Have a drink," Berry gently woke Lily, who had been asleep since.

Lily slowly opened her eyes, and with the help of Art, she sat up in bed.

"Here, drink slowly," Berry carefully fed her the herb.

"How are you feeling now?" Devin asked with concern.

Lily nodded and was about to say something when suddenly, visions of two females appeared in front of her.

One was a woman with peeling skin, and the other had rough skin. They both had green-colored eyes and seemed to be plotting something.

"What's with this vision? Who are these people?" she wondered.

"Angel!" Devin called, bringing Lily back to reality.

She looked at him, her appearance still weak and pale. "I'm better now," she assured him.

"I'm sorry I made you fall sick," Devin apologized, resting his head on her tummy and wrapping his arms around her waist.

Lily smiled and rubbed his head. "It's not your fault," she remarked.

Devin shook his head lightly. "Had I not made it rain, you wouldn't have stayed in the rain and ended up in this state," he replied in a choked voice. "I'm also the reason why you were unconscious from the start. I promise not to hurt any of your mates, but I broke my promise. I will accept whatever punishment you want to give me, but I don't want to leave you," he pleaded.

Lily sighed. "It's fine. Don't dwell on it too much," she reassured him.

Devin looked up at Lily.

"I'm serious; there's no need to think too much about it. It's all in the past now," Lily stated with an assuring smile on her face.

Devin smiled happily. "Angel is the best," he praised, and was about to kiss Lily when Liam's hand immediately blocked him.

"What's wrong with you? Beauty is just recovering; don't disturb her, please," Liam's annoyed voice echoed.

Black shadows surrounded Devin instantly, and his gaze fell on Liam, his expression already showing his intent to beat him to the point that he wouldn't be able to stand for years. However, the fear of offending Lily held him back, and he withdrew his intent.

Lily, who saw this, sighed and looked at Liam. "Why do you love provoking others?" she asked.

Liam blinked innocently. "I didn't provoke anyone," he defended.

"What did you just do now?" Lily raised her brows.

"I'm telling him not to trouble you; you're just getting better," Liam responded, his gaze filled with righteousness.

Lily sighed. "You..."

"Don't be angry, Angel; please calm down," Art's voice chimed in.

Lily took a deep breath and looked at Liam. She was about to say something when she noticed Liam's odd expression.

"What's the matter?" she questioned with a frown.

"Beauty... your... your eyes..." Liam stammered.

Lily wore a confused expression. "What's with my eyes?" she inquired.

Star curiously looked at Lily, her expression freezing as well.

Devin raised his head and looked at Lily, his jaw dropping immediately.

Art also looked at Lily and shared the same expression as them.

Angus raised his head and looked at Lily, only to also be stunned.

Malik was no exception, nor were Webby, Berry, and Raza, all equally stunned.

"Why… why do you all have the same expression on your faces? What happened to my eyes?" Lily asked, her voice filled with concern.

"Let me get you a mirror," Star said, shaking off her surprise. She quickly searched for a mirror and, after finding it, handed it to Lily. "Check your reflection," she urged.

Lily furrowed her brows and looked at her reflection in the mirror. She was taken aback by what she saw.

Her once beautiful ocean-blue eyes had transformed into a majestic golden hue, glowing profoundly. It looked pretty, but staring into them felt like facing someone who could see right through her.

"Why is this?" Lily murmured, her voice barely audible.

"Let me tell you, your neck too. There seems to be something eating away at the concealing there," Star reported immediately.

Lily glanced at her neck and, indeed, it looked fair. Her brows knitted in concern, and instantly, another tube appeared in her hand. Without wasting any time, she pressed the black paste onto her neck and held the mirror up closely to see what would happen next.

Surprisingly, after what felt like a long period of waiting, nothing happened. Lily looked at Star with a questioning gaze.

Star was equally stunned. "This…" she stammered, now speechless.

Lily sighed and looked back at her eyes, which had returned to their beautiful blue color. "Time Goddess," she thought. "Does this have anything to do with becoming the Time Goddess? But what does all this mean? I really don't understand anything anymore," she pondered.

Webby's eyes widened after hearing Lily's thoughts, and his brows knitted together in concern, his own thoughts remaining a mystery to everyone else.
