Chapter 40 - Chapter 40

In a pristine laboratory, a room filled with state-of-the-art scientific equipment and numerous screens flickered to life. On the displays, a series of interviews played, each featuring individuals from diverse age groups recounting a shared, extraordinary experience.

One screen showed a young woman, her eyes wide with wonder, as she described stepping into an elevator and being enveloped in a blinding burst of light. "The next thing I knew, I was standing in this strange, unfamiliar place," she said, her voice tinged with disbelief.

Another screen depicted an elderly man, his weathered face etched with a mixture of confusion and awe. "I was just walking out of my tent, and then there was this flash of lightning. Suddenly, I found myself in a room with an old man – he had a long, white beard and he asked me all these questions."

A third screen displayed a teenager, his hands gesturing animatedly as he recounted his experience. "I was on the bus, minding my own business, and then BAM! The whole world just shifted around me. I ended up in this strange place, and this old guy with a beard started talking to me about powers and responsibilities."

As the interviews continued to play, a common thread emerged – each individual had encountered a mysterious, elderly man with a long, white beard, who had questioned them and then sent them back to their original locations.

In the pristine laboratory, Doctor Thaddeus Sivana, a brilliant but obsessed scientist, intently observed the series of interviews playing across the multiple screens. His gaunt features were etched with a mixture of fascination and determination, his eyes narrowed behind his glasses as he meticulously cataloged every detail.

Sivana had spent years chasing the elusive trail of magic, a force he had once dismissed as mere superstition. But the testimonies unfolding before him challenged everything he thought he knew about the nature of reality. The common thread of the elderly, bearded man questioning the witnesses only fueled his growing obsession.

Tapping his fingers against the console, Sivana recalled his own personal journey, one defined by tragedy and an unquenchable thirst for answers. When science failed to provide a solution to the mysterious illness afflicting his family, he had turned his attention to the realm of the arcane, convinced that the key to their salvation lay in the discovery of ancient magic.

The legends of Black Adam and the mythical Rock of Eternity had long captivated Sivana's imagination. He had spent countless hours poring over ancient texts, excavating forgotten sites, and tracing the faintest of leads, all in the hopes of uncovering the secrets of this powerful, magical realm.

Now, as he watched the interviews unfold, Sivana felt a surge of excitement. Could these testimonies be the missing pieces he had been searching for all along? The possibility of unlocking the true power of magic, of harnessing it to save his family, consumed his every waking thought.

With renewed vigor, Sivana turned his attention back to the screens, his mind racing as he meticulously analyzed each detail, determined to uncover the truth that had evaded him for so long.

Thaddeus Sivana, his eyes alight with anticipation, turned to one of his scientists as the man entered the pristine laboratory. "Report," Sivana commanded, his voice clipped and authoritative.

The scientist, a young man with a nervous demeanor, cleared his throat. "Sir, we've made a significant discovery in Baghdad, Iraq. Our team has uncovered what appears to be an ancient relic, one that matches the descriptions in the texts you've been studying."

Sivana's brow furrowed, a glimmer of triumph flashing across his features. "Excellent. Prepare my private jet immediately. I'll depart for Iraq at once."

Without a moment's hesitation, Sivana rose from his chair, his long strides carrying him towards the exit. The scientist hurried to keep pace, offering additional details about the find, but Sivana's focus was unwavering. This could be the breakthrough he had been searching for – the key to unlocking the secrets of the magical realm he had dedicated so much of his life to unraveling.

As Sivana made his way to the tarmac, his mind raced with the possibilities. If this relic truly held the answers he sought, he would be one step closer to saving his family and harnessing the true power of magic. The scientist's words echoed in his mind, fueling his determination to leave no stone unturned in his quest for knowledge and power.

Thaddeus Sivana's private jet touched down at the Baghdad International Airport, the scientist's impatience palpable as he disembarked and made his way to the site of the recent discovery. The location was a remote area approximately 45 miles from the bustling city, and Sivana's mind raced with the possibilities that awaited him.

As he approached the excavation site, Sivana observed a flurry of activity. Rows of workers toiled, shovels and pickaxes striking the earth in a rhythmic cadence. Sivana strode up to the individual overseeing the operation, his keen gaze scrutinizing the man's every move.

"What is the progress here?" Sivana demanded, his tone clipped and authoritative.

The site supervisor, a weathered man with a sun-worn face, turned to face the impatient scientist. "One of my men stumbled upon something unusual while digging," he explained, gesturing towards the partially exposed structure. "We've been working to uncover it ever since."

Sivana's eyes narrowed as he studied the partially revealed object, his mind already whirring with theories and hypotheses. "And what exactly have you found?" he pressed, his fingers drumming against his thigh in anticipation.

The supervisor hesitated for a moment, sensing the underlying intensity in Sivana's demeanor. "We're not entirely sure," he admitted. "It appears to be some kind of ancient door, but we're still in the process of excavating it. The men are working as quickly as they can to uncover it fully."

Sivana nodded, his gaze fixed on the ongoing excavation. "I see. Well, I suggest you double your efforts. Time is of the essence."

With those words, Sivana turned on his heel and strode towards the partially exposed structure, his mind already consumed by the possibilities that lay buried beneath the Iraqi soil.

Dr. Thaddeus Sivana watched impatiently as the workers continued to excavate the ancient door, their shovels and pickaxes chipping away at the stubborn earth. The symbols adorning the door's surface were unfamiliar to him, despite his vast knowledge of ancient languages and dialects.

"Hurry up!" Sivana barked, his eyes narrowed with impatience. "I need to see what's behind that door."

The workers redoubled their efforts, sweat glistening on their brows as they strained to uncover the mysterious relic. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the door was fully exposed, its intricate carvings casting shadows on the surrounding sand.

Sivana stepped forward, his fingers gripping a crowbar tightly. "Stand back," he commanded, his voice brimming with anticipation. "I'll open it myself."

Pushing the crowbar into the seam of the door, Sivana heaved with all his might, his muscles straining as he slowly pried the ancient barrier open. With a resounding groan, the door swung inward, revealing a dark, yawning void beyond.

Suddenly, a blinding flash of light erupted from the doorway, and Sivana cried out in surprise as the energy struck him directly in the right eye. The scientist stumbled backward, his hand clutching his face as a searing pain lanced through his skull.

"Dr. Sivana!" his men cried, rushing to his side. "Are you alright?"

Sivana blinked, his vision clearing, and he slowly lowered his hand. To his astonishment, the world around him had taken on a new, vibrant hue. Colors seemed to glow with an inner radiance, and he could see faint, shimmering lines of energy pulsing through the air.

"I can see it," Sivana breathed, his gaze fixed on the door. "I can see the magic."

His right eye, once a deep brown, now shone with a brilliant blue light, a jagged scar of lightning cutting across the iris. Sivana felt a surge of exhilaration coursing through him, the power of the ancient artifact resonating within him.

"This is it," he murmured, a grin spreading across his face. "The key to unlocking the secrets of the universe."

Turning to his men, Sivana's expression hardened with determination. "Seal off the area and keep everyone away," he ordered. "I'm going in."

Without waiting for a response, Sivana strode towards the doorway, his eyes alight with a fervent hunger for knowledge. The dark, mysterious door beckoned him forward, promising to reveal the hidden wonders of the magical realm. Sivana knew that he was on the cusp of a groundbreaking discovery, one that would change the course of his life forever.
