Chapter 44 - Chapter 44

Haruka, clad in the sleek Kamen Rider The First armor, stood atop the towering building, his gaze fixed on the nervous Billy. Freddy, standing nearby, watched with eager anticipation.

"Are you sure this is safe?" Billy asked, his voice trembling as he peered over the edge of the building.

"We're doing this so you can fly, Billy," Haruka replied, his modulated voice betraying a hint of confidence.

Billy's eyes widened, and he shook his head vehemently. "I thought we already established that I can't fly!" he protested, his fingers gripping the ledge tightly.

Haruka nodded, remembering the earlier revelations about Billy's powers. "I know, but I believe you can do it," he said, his tone reassuring. "You just have to believe in yourself."

The young hero's brow furrowed in uncertainty, but Haruka remained steadfast. He knew that in his previous life, Shazam could fly.

Haruka stepped closer to Billy, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Trust in your abilities, Billy," he said, his voice calm and steady. "I believe you can do this."

Billy's gaze wavered, but he could see the unwavering conviction in Haruka's eyes, even through the reflective visor of the Kamen Rider armor. Freddy, too, stood nearby, his expression a mix of excitement and anticipation.

Taking a deep breath, Billy turned his attention back to the edge of the building. He knew that Haruka and Freddy believed in him, and that was enough to bolster his own confidence, even if he was still unsure of his powers.

"Okay," Billy said, his voice steadier than before. "I'll give it a try."

Haruka nodded, his posture relaxing slightly. "That's the spirit," he said, his tone encouraging. "Remember, you have the power within you. All you need to do is believe."

Billy stepped closer to the edge, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew that this was a life-or-death situation, and that thought alone should have been enough to trigger his abilities. Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes and focused all his energy on the act of flight.

The seconds ticked by, and the tension in the air was palpable. Freddy held his breath, his eyes fixed on Billy, while Haruka remained vigilant, ready to intervene if necessary.

Haruka and Freddy watched in horror as Billy turned back to them, his face filled with defeat.

"I can't do it," Billy said, his voice quivering. A sudden gust of wind blew against his face, and in his moment of distraction, one of his legs slipped off the edge of the building.

"Billy!" Haruka and Freddy screamed, their voices laced with panic, as they watched their friend tumble over the side.

Haruka's heart raced as he leaned over the edge, desperate to catch a glimpse of Billy. The young hero's terrified cries echoed through the air.

Billy started falling, and the ground got closer and closer. Billy kept screaming. He believes he could fly repeatedly.

"I believe I can fly! I believe I can fly! I can fly, so I believe! I believe! I believe!"

Billy tries to stretch his arms like Superman so he can fly.

"Superman! Superman! Ahh! How hard can it be!"

The wind whipped through Billy's hair as he plummeted, his heart pounding in his chest. He flailed his arms, desperately trying to emulate the flight of his hero, Superman. "I believe I can fly! I have to believe!" he shouted, his voice laced with panic.

Haruka and Freddy watched in horror from the rooftop, their eyes wide with fear. Haruka's mind raced, trying to determine the best course of action to save his friend. He couldn't bear the thought of letting Billy fall to his demise.

"Come on, Billy! You can do this!" Freddy yelled, his voice cracking with emotion. "Just believe in yourself!"

The ground rushed up to meet Billy, the concrete and asphalt hurtling towards him. His heart pounded in his chest, and he squeezed his eyes shut, bracing for the inevitable impact.

But the impact never came.

Tentatively, Billy cracked one eye open, then the other, blinking in surprise as he realized he was no longer plummeting towards the ground. Instead, he was floating, suspended in mid-air just inches from the pavement.

"What the..." he muttered, glancing around in bewilderment. He wiggled his fingers and toes, testing his control, and to his amazement, he began to drift upwards, rising slowly but surely.

"I'm...I'm flying!" he exclaimed, a grin spreading across his face. The fear that had gripped him just moments ago had been replaced by a giddy sense of exhilaration. He pumped his fists in the air, whooping with joy as he soared higher, the city skyline stretching out beneath him.

Freddy's eyes widened in amazement as he watched Billy soar effortlessly back up to the rooftop where he and Haruka stood. "Dude, you're actually flying!" he exclaimed, a huge grin spreading across his face.

Billy beamed with pride, his red and gold costume billowing in the wind as he hovered in front of them. "I can't believe it either!" he said, laughing with giddy exhilaration. He executed a few graceful loops and twists, showcasing his newfound mastery of flight.

Haruka observed Billy's display, a subtle smile visible beneath his Kamen Rider helmet. "I knew you could do it," he said, his modulated voice betraying a hint of pride. "Your belief was the key all along."

Haruka observed the two young heroes with a mix of amusement and understanding. "It seems we've uncovered most of your powers, Billy," he said, his modulated voice betraying a hint of satisfaction.

Freddy's eyes gleamed with excitement. "Yo, this calls for a celebration!" he exclaimed, already buzzing with ideas. "What do you say we go grab some grub, huh?" He nudged Billy with his elbow, a wide grin spreading across his face.

Billy's expression brightened at the suggestion, but his enthusiasm quickly dimmed as he remembered their lack of funds. "That sounds awesome, but..." He trailed off, casting a sheepish glance at Haruka. "We kind of blew all our cash yesterday, you know?"

Sensing their dilemma, Haruka let out a resigned sigh, shaking his head slightly. "Alright, alright," he said, his tone softening. "I'll take care of it. My treat, you two." He folded his arms across his chest, the reflective visor of his Kamen Rider armor masking any hint of emotion.

Freddy's face lit up, and he pumped his fist in the air triumphantly. "Yes! I know just the place, man!" he exclaimed, already making his way towards the exit. He glanced back at Billy, his grin widening. "Race you there!"

Billy grinned, his earlier worries forgotten as he hurried to catch up with Freddy. "Thanks, Kamen Rider!" he called out, his voice sincere. "You're the best, for real!"

Haruka watched as the two young heroes eagerly led the way, their infectious energy a stark contrast to his own more reserved demeanor. As he followed them, he couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and fondness for the pair. Their reckless behavior had concerned him at first, but witnessing their growth and potential had slowly won him over.

The trio made their way through the bustling streets, Freddy animatedly discussing his plans for their celebratory meal. Billy listened intently, occasionally offering his own suggestions, while Haruka trailed behind, observing their camaraderie with a slight smile.
