I hadn't slept well all night, but I woke up early to get ready to go out to work.
There was a cappuccino on the doorstep, Robin's favourite flavour.
I knew that it was from Robin.
But I didn't hesitate and just dumped the coffee on my way downstairs.
Looking up, I saw Robin standing before me, his face gloomy.
"You threw away the cappuccino I got for you," he said, his voice laced with annoyance and a touch of anger, his dark eyes fixed on me.
"I told you, I don't want anything you say or give me," I replied coolly.
I tried to walk past him, but he grabbed my arm.
"Sophia, are you still upset?"
"Am I upset?" I asked calmly. "Didn't you used to do the same to me? Did you think I was just being moody?"
He had been hospitalised with a stomach haemorrhage and the doctor said he had to eat some nutritious meals.
To help him, I took a special course to learn how to prepare nutritious meals.
But not only did he not eat, he gave Olivia all the lunches I carefully prepared every day.
When I found out, he had a moment of weakness, but he still explained, "Olivia is not well, it's only right that we take care of her." .
"Is that so? One with stomach problems and one in poor health, you two seem perfect for each other."
I shook off his hand and left, not wanting to waste any more time talking.
For the rest of the day, I concentrated on my work, ignoring his messages. I even sent back his gifts and meals unopened.
When friends invited me out for shopping and movies, I no longer hesitated to accept. I did whatever I felt like doing, feeling much more liberated.
Without Robin and Olivia in my life, my worries were cut in half, leaving me to enjoy the pleasures of being on my own.
I had almost forgotten about them until Ethan unexpectedly called.
"Sophia, when are you coming? We're all here waiting for you."
Confused, I asked, "Waiting for me? Why?"
"Aren't you and Robin treating us to dinner? Come on, hurry up. We're all waiting."
He hung up abruptly.
Ethan texted me an address and private room number.
After a moment's hesitation, I decided it was time to clear things up once and for all.
I went to the restaurant Ethan mentioned.
It was the place that Robin and I had talked about wanting to go countless times, but he always made the excuse that he was too busy to accompany me.
Following the waitress to the private room, I heard Ethan's voice before I could get inside.
"Sophia's got a weird attitude, doesn't she?" We had to call her several times before she agreed to come. Robin has been so helpful, but she's still cold to him. She's so spoiled."
Olivi laughed and said teasingly, "That's just the way girls are, it's normal to have a bit of an attitude. Sophia is just insecure and doesn't fully trust Robin. She'll come around."
"If you ask me, you and Robin are a much better match. If you hadn't been so focused on your studies, you'd be the one next to Robin right now."
I felt a stirring within me when I heard this.
Everyone was on both of their sides, so why should I get my hopes up for this relationship anymore.
"Why don't you come inside if you're here?"
Robin's voice came from behind me.
I turned to look at him, but I couldn't help the redness in my eyes.
"What the hell did you call me here for, to see how in love you and Olivia are? To see how enviable your new relationship is?"
