Now that the gang had "listened" to Carl's instructions, it was time for their first hunt. They stood in a dilapidated alley, the scent of humans lingering in the air.
"Alright, just follow my lead," Carl muttered. "We'll corner them from both sides. Slow and quiet."
Jenna nodded, though she was staring at a broken mirror propped up against the wall. Carl watched in disbelief as she slowly inched toward it, her eyes gleaming. "Jenna, not now!" Carl hissed.
"But... it's reflective! It could be useful!" she whispered back, as though they were in some sort of stealth mission where her mirror would play a critical role.
Carl rolled his eyes. "Focus on the humans, not the junk."
Jenna pouted but reluctantly tore her gaze away. Carl gestured for the group to move forward, hoping the humans hadn't already picked up on their presence. But as soon as they took their first step, one of the zombies let out a loud, guttural groan, breaking the silence.
The humans ahead turned around, their eyes wide with fear.
"Ambush now!" Carl shouted. "Now's your chance!"
Instead of attacking, Jenna panicked and accidentally opened her spatial space, sucking one of the nearby zombies into it instead of charging the humans. The rest of the gang stumbled over each other in confusion, groaning louder than ever. A few tripped, falling into the trash cans nearby, which clattered noisily.
Carl facepalmed as the humans bolted down the street, escaping easily. "What... what was that?"
Jenna scratched her head, blinking in confusion. "I thought maybe if I hid them in my space, it would surprise the humans later...?"
Carl's eye twitched. "That's... not how ambushes work."
