Chapter 1 - The Game Never Ends

The Championship Finals (Realm Earth)

The stadium is filled with loud, roaring cheers as Chrono-Realm, the most famous virtual reality MMORPG, is being played at the World Gaming Championship Finals. The crowd is electric, the lights flashing, and the entire arena feels alive with anticipation. At the centre of it all is Aiden Rook, known by his in-game alias, "Overlord." His face is calm but focused, his hands swiftly moving across the controls of his VR rig as he battles for the championship.

Commentator 1:

"This is it, people! Overlord versus PhantomBlade! The two best players in the world, fighting it out for the title! Who is going to be crowned as the king and who is going to taste defeat !?"

Commentator 2:

"Overlord has been untouchable this entire tournament, but PhantomBlade is pushing him hard! Look at that defence—this is unreal!"

Commentator 1:

"Yes this is incredible! It's a completely different era of gaming! It's marvellous how much progress we have made in today's virtual games , a player has to use his mental strength along with his physical strength too. It's a work of art , it literally is…"

Commentator 2:

"You're absolutely correct Jason. The weight of the longVR handle just feels like a real heavy sword and the armour that they are inside is also heavier than we expect! And YES here it comes! Overlord is preparing his favourite finishing swing with his special ability in this game called Fla…. WAIT! There is something weird, THE SCREEN IS LAGGING ..."

Aiden's health bar flickers on the screen. He's low on health, but his face doesn't show a hint of stress. Inside his VR helmet, the world around him is a battlefield of collapsing structures and magical energies, his avatar slashing through enemies with speed and precision. But something feels off. His vision begins to blur, and a sharp pain surges through his chest.

Aiden (thinking):

"Not now… just a little longer…"

Suddenly, his heart rate spikes dangerously high. Everything around blurs, and the crowd's cheers fade into a distant hum ,as the whole stadium was empty to begin with.

Aiden (whispering):

"No… this can't be…"

A flash of light fills the VR screen as Aiden collapses. The last thing he saw was his avatar being struck down on the battlefield.

Commentator 1:

"Wait… what's happening? Is Overlord…?"

Commentator 2:

"Oh no, something's wrong! Medic! We need a medic!" - Commentator shouted!

The crowd falls silent as Aiden's vision fades to black.

Awakening in Another World (Chrono-Realm)

Aiden wakes up on a cold stone floor. The air around him is damp, and the soft flicker of torches lights the narrow stone hallways. The smell of old wood and dust fills the air. As his vision clears, he sees that he's lying in what looks like an old, rundown fortress.

He sits up, clutching his head.

Aiden (confused):

"What… where am I?"

Looking down at himself, he notices his clothes—rough leather armour and a simple tunic. This isn't the cutting-edge VR rig he wore during the championship. His surroundings look medieval and strangely familiar. He sees a rusty sword leaning against the wall.

Aiden (muttering):

"This… this is Chrono-Realm… but how?"

He stands up, realising that everything feels real—the stone beneath his feet, the chill in the air, the weight of the armour on his body. His mind races as he steps outside the small, dark room, entering what looks like a dilapidated courtyard. The fortress is in ruins, overgrown with vines and moss. A few NPCs—villagers dressed in ragged clothes—are aimlessly walking around, repairing broken walls.

Suddenly, a blue holographic interface pops up in front of him. It's the familiar Chrono-Realm game menu which was quite common for the players, but now, it's hovering in front of him as if it's part of his reality.

Aiden (narrowing his eyes):

"No way… am I actually… inside the game?"

He shouts and opens the status menu.

[STATUS]

•Name: Aiden (Base Keeper)

•Level: 1

•Class: Base Keeper (NPC)

•Base Health: 100

•Mana: 50

•Skills: [Build], [Time Distortion - Slow], [Commander's Aura - Basic]

Aiden (exasperated):

"A Base Keeper? I'm not even a player character? How did this happen?!"

He runs a hand through his hair, frustration creeping in. In his mind, he tries to piece together what's going on.

Aiden (thinking):

"The last thing I remember… I was in the finals. Then the heart attack. So how the hell am I here? Is this some kind of messed-up afterlife?"

Before he can think further, a gruff voice calls out to him from behind.

NPC Villager (Old Man):

"Oi, Keeper! We've got a problem in the west wall again. The goblins are pushing through the forest. If we don't fix that hole, we're done for."

Aiden turns and stares at the old villager, who looks tired and dirty.

Aiden:

"Wait… you're asking me to fix a wall? Aren't there guards for that?"

Old Man:

"Guards? Ha! You think we've got enough guards in this backwater dump? This ain't one of the big city fortresses, Keeper. It's just us and what we can manage. You're the Keeper—so keep this place standing!"

Aiden (sighing):

"Right, guess I'll start there."

Discovering the Power (The West Wall)

Aiden walks through the crumbling fortress to the west wall, where he sees a large hole in the stone defences. The forest looms beyond the broken wall, and in the distance, he can hear the sounds of creatures moving through the trees.

He examines the interface again and sees a new menu appear as he approaches the wall:

[BUILD MODE]

•Repair Wall (100 Stone)

•Upgrade Wall (300 Stone)

•Place Trap (150 Stone)

Aiden (grinning slightly):

"So I really can use the game's build system… maybe this isn't so bad after all."

He selects Repair Wall, but a warning message pops up.

[Insufficient Resources]

•Current Stone: 50

Aiden (grumbling):

"Of course. Nothing's ever easy."

Looking around, he sees a quarry nearby, where a few villagers are working. He starts delegating tasks, quickly gathering enough stone to begin repairs. With a wave of his hand, the game interface activates, and the wall begins to slowly rebuild itself, stone by stone.

Aiden (thinking):

"This is way more immersive than I expected. But still... I need to figure out how to get stronger , to beat this game to get myself out of here . Base Keepers is the lowest class in the game and I have never played from this class with my console so I have to level up myself with the limited resources here ,as Base Keepers don't exactly become champions with ease."

Just as the wall finishes repairing, a group of goblins charges from the forest, shrieking as they rush the village.

Aiden (drawing the rusty sword from his belt):

"Guess it's time to see if my combat instincts still work."

He steps forward, and with a flash of adrenaline, his body moves on instinct, just like in his old gaming days. The goblins attack, but Aiden's reflexes, honed by years of gaming, allow him to dodge and counter with surprising agility. One goblin tries to reach his neck with its sharp claws but Aiden immediately slices its wrist and finishes it at once with a single slice of his longsword.

Aiden (thinking):

"Feels just like controlling my avatar. Timing, precision... let's see how these disgusting bastards like this. But moreover I felt goosebumps as it felt like I had chopped a real damn head."

He cuts down the first two goblins, but more keep coming. Just as he's about to be overwhelmed, his interface flashes:

[Time Distortion - Slow] Activated!

The world around him slows down to a crawl, and Aiden smirks.

Aiden:

"Hell yeah…. this is what I needed! This is going to be more fun now!"

In the slowed time, he easily dispatches the remaining goblins with calculated strikes. As time returns to normal, the goblin corpses lie scattered at his feet.

Aiden (wiping sweat from his brow):

"Great, I can work with this."

Scene 4: Uncovering the Relic

After the battle, Aiden notices something strange near the wall—a glowing stone, partially buried in the dirt. Curious, he reaches down and pulls it free. It hums with a faint magical energy. As he holds it, a new notification pops up:

[Relic Found: Timekeeper's Shard]

•Unlock Time-based Abilities

•Upgrade Base to unlock full potential

Aiden (raising an eyebrow):

"A Timekeeper's Shard… this must be connected to the game's hidden lore. Could this relic explain why I'm here?"

Suddenly, a vision flashes before his eyes—of great battles, ancient forces, and timelines colliding. His role as the Base Keeper isn't just to protect the fortress—it's to guard the flow of time itself.

Aiden (gripping the relic tightly):

"I need to figure out how this all works… and fast."

A New Purpose

As the sun sets over the ruined fortress, Aiden stands at the newly repaired wall, staring out into the dark forest. His mind races with possibilities.

Aiden (determined):

"I may have started at the bottom, but I'm still a gamer. And if this is my second chance... I'm going to conquer this world, just like I did before. I may be really dead in my previous world or dream whatever it was, But in the present moment I can sense myself... feel myself here alive and breathing, I can battle against my fate, I can reveal all the secrets and live what I have always loved at the same time!"

Before Aiden lies the vast, dangerous world beyond the base—a world where time and fate are about to collide, and Aiden Rook is at the centre of it all.
