Emma's POV
I literally thought my whole life had turned upside down, but it was the beginning of the mending of many of my relationships.
First, with Lily.
I sat far away from her in class, among the 'zeros', as Lily called them. People who had little to no appeal. I had begun to feel that way either way.
Someone passed me a note. I saw Lily's poorly drawn heart shape on it and laughed.
"I'm sorry, Emma." The note read. "I didn't mean for that to happen. You're a really pretty girl, you can't blame me so much." She drew a very funny face next to it.
I was still baffled, but I liked the fact that she was making a joke out of it. It made the air feel less tense.
"It really caught me unawares." I replied to her and sent it back.
People were already looking at us and wondering how we were talking and laughing and exchanging notes barely an hour after the showdown in the lobby.
"I know. I'm so sorry. It's messing with me again." She wrote with a tear faced badly drawn man next to it.
"I'm sorry Lily. You've been on my mind, always." I wrote back to her.
"Thank you." She wrote back. "I can't want to hug you(without kissing this time around.)" She added to it.
I laughed and stopped before we both got busted.
She and Gray were no longer talking, same as Chase and I, but we were back to being cool and that was just how I liked it. Or so I convinced myself.
True to her word, she ran and hugged me outside the school.
She planned to ditch her driver and so we rode back together in my car.
Lily kept screaming, being chirpy, singing so loud with a very bad voice
"Lily!" I screamed my name as she popped her head out the car. "Are you on crack or something?" I asked her, surprised at the amount of energy she had after school.
"Yeah, I'm high. But not on crack, on you." She said, winking very horribly.
Everything she did made me laugh. Lily was so lively and funny, funnier than I ever knew her to be.
"Lily, put your goddamn head in!" I yelled further.
I actually didn't need to. We were nearing her house already.
Lily brought her head in and sat like she wast the one making so much noise we both could've been sued for disturbance for.
"What's up girl?" I said , pulling up in front of their neighbors' lot.
"Nothing much. Nothing interesting. Nothing that makes sense." Her eyes were reddening and I knew she might not want to say much at that time.
So I put a hand on her lap and squeezed it tight.
Lily was going through a lot. So much, I could barely imagine.
I never grew up with one of my parents, but I knew it was a far fairer deal than having to watch your family fall apart.
"It doesn't have to be all those to interest me, Lily." I said. "It really just has to concern you" I consoled her.
Her face was red and tears had started to fall when I held her face up. "I don't want you being like this." I had begun to feel bad because of her.
"You don't have to." She replied.
"Come on, Lily. Don't be like that. You know I'd do anything for you." I said, patting her head. "How about a sleepover this weekend?" I suggested. I wasn't so sure if she'd be open to spending the weekend with me, but to my surprise, her face lit up.
"Fucking yes! That's just two days away. I'll start packing right away." She said, excited and jumped out of the car.
I was happy to have put her in a good mood.
Satisfied with myself, I turned and headed back home.
Chase was still the only one home, and the air was so fucking tense.
I hadn't made friends with many of the domestic staff, except the gardener of course.
I got to my room and saw a package in it.
It was addressed to me with lives and heart, and Chase's signature.
Words couldn't describe the happiness I felt.
First Lily, then Chase.
It just solidified a theory I had that if the universe was to smile on you, it can undo everything, every single thing.
I tore it open. Neatly packaged in it were packets of seeds of the flowers he got me. The very expensive ones. I was near tears, but decided that I was gonna thank him first before getting so excited.
I skipped to his Tom and opened without knocking.
Since he planted such a surprise, he must be expecting this reaction.
What I saw shocked the hell out of me.
I was greeted by a ladies pant by the door. And on the bed, Chase and the silly maid who kept giving me silly glances were going at it. Actually, she was laying her on the bed and Chase was entering her from any and every hole.
The box dropped from my hand.
Realizing I had no point being angry over it, I swallowed my saliva and readied my brain to address the two naked people whose make out sesh I had interrupted so badly.
"Uhm." I said, finding the words to say. "I just wanted to thank you for this." I planted a fake smile and showed the box to him.
"Oh shit. I forgot to cancel those." He said. "Lock the door on your way out, Emma." He said, smiling and lubricating his hand with his saliva before sliding it into Patty's vagina. She moaned exaggeratedly, and I knew that was my cue to leave.
Broken and dejected, I went back to my room.
Surprisingly though, Patty was coming up right behind me.
I looked back to see her frowning and throwing all sorts of curse words.
"Don't look at me like that." She said, brushing me past.
"I'll remember to tell that to Mark when he gets back." I didn't want to be that person, but I wasn't going to let her think she could walk over me like that and treat me like a doormat because she was sucking the same dick I sucked.
"I'm sorry." She apologized and bowed.
Sad at how I suppressed and cowered her so easily, and against my will, I just walked out.
At last she knows to put some respect on my name.
