Chapter 35 - Chapter 35

Emma's POV

Chase came and sat right next to me as I predicted.

Lily still didn't move a finger

"What's going on?" I whispered in her ear.

"I don't want to talk right now." She said back.

 "Why?" I asked her.

"Cause we're in class?" She sounded quite sassy, but I wasn't ready to back down.

Just then, Jessica passed by.

"Man and wife, bitch and man." She said, Grayson was sitting on one end, Lily followed, I did, then Chase.

I didn't need to be told that she was referring to me.

Shockingly, Gray acknowledged her.

I looked at Chase to check if he saw the exchange they had just happened, and I confirmed he did.

His look wasn't pleasant.

"What's going on man?" I read the note he passed to me and looked at him.

"Pass it on to Gray." He said. I passed it to Gray, boycotting Lily. I doubt she would touch anything Chase touched even with the longest of spoons.

Gray passed the paper back through Lily who gave me when she could have reached for Chase directly.

I sent it to Chase and he opened it right there for me to see.

"We need to talk. You've been avoiding me. And now you come here, with her." The note read. I felt offended.

Apparently, his beef really wasn't with just Chase. It was about me.

"You know she can see this, man?" Chase wrote and sent back.

I didn't know if that was his noble way of telling Gray that he was gonna show me every single note he passed, or he was trying to warn him not to say too much.

I almost wanted to tear it up and tell him to write something else, but I knew I had no right to censor what he said to his friend. Who knows if being with me was the main issue Gray was having with him.

"I wanna say do what suits you, but I'm not gonna. We are gonna talk about it when you're done being so stupid." He wrote and sent it back.

Chase tore an empty note, put a period on it and sent it back to him.

I didn't need a soothsayer to know that Gray wasn't feeling me anymore.

Lily loved him, so it made just a little bit of sense that she had to tread with caution when he was around and she was with me.

Since we were close, there was no point passing notes.

"What do you know about this Lily? You're not telling me something." I asked her.

"I can't talk now." She replied.

"You're not cool with me either." I said. I didn't like the fact that she was taking me for a fool. "You just embarrassed me in the hall." I said.

"I'm sorry about that." She said

"No you're not." I responded. "You even corrected him when he said you were gonna see me." I backed it up.

"Are you here to talk or you wanna attend the class?" She asked.

"I'm losing my best friend. You're sure don't expect me to be too cool about that." I replied to her

"You just don't give up, do you?" She asked me.

Gray put his hand around her neck and moved her closer. It was the end of our discussion.

I could not look to Chase for support. I wanted to do this on my own.

The day came to an end sluggishly.

Chase and I rode in the same vehicle back home.

Mark, his dad had taken my mom on a vacation. They were gonna be away for a few days.

"What do you suggest we do?" he asked.

 "Call Lily." I said, smiling.

"No, silly." He said. "Let's go fishing. There's a private lake about twenty minutes away. I used to go fishing there with my dad when I still had one." He said with a sad smile.

"What does that even mean?" I asked him. "You still have one. You're just too strong headed." I said.

"You don't know that." He replied, getting out of the car and heading into the house.

"From what I've seen? I do." I replied to him.

"You can judge me. You didn't see your mom murdered." He said and walked away at such a pace I had never seen in a walk.

I wanted to run after him and apologize, but I didn't think he wanted to hear my voice, so I just kept on walking.

The maid Chase used to have sex with was still giving me nasty looks.

It seemed like I had enemies and people who didn't like me all around.

Both in school, and at home. I went into my room and locked myself in.

I still had packs of snacks in my wardrobe. I had a bit of disordered eating, so there was always food around me.

There wasn't much to do on my phone either, so I decided to do something I hadn't done in a while. Stalk!

I started with Jessica. I was greeted with pictures of a wide variety of cute looking guys.

Jessica was living every girl's dream. She had pictures with supermodels too, actors, cute boys, even porn stars.

I wondered why she so badly wanted Chase.

Next I moved to Graysons page.

He did not have a loud social media presence like Jessica did, but he had important people as followers.

I checked his following list and I saw a number of ladies.

I wondered how Lily didn't find that disturbing.

I shamelessly sent following requests to certain girls with locked accounts.

They didn't even have a lot of followers but they were really active and had owned the accounts for a long time.

Before I even got done sending requests, one accepted my request. I checked her page and saw pictures of her and Gray flooded all over

I wished, for Lily, that it was a long time ago. But it wasn't. The most recent picture of both of them was only three days ago, at a private beach.

Gray was all smiles and hugging her from behind. I scrolled through and the last slide had a picture where he carried her and held her to himself.

I screen recorded my new pieces of information.

It wasn't going to be a weapon, but if I had to use it, I would.
