Emma's POV
The look Lily finally settled for scared the shit out of me.
She looked at me like I said I had been kissed by an ogre.
I was starting to feel worse than I should.
"Chase kissed you?" She asked again.
"Yes. And please stop being so loud. They can almost hear us." I was referring to Gray and Chase who were just a few feet away.
"You should know better than that, Emma." Lily sounded so off, I felt like I had pissed her.
But it really shouldn't have been such a big deal. Lily was blowing it out of proportions, and it hurt.
"What if it was a dare? Or a bet?" People got together for all sorts of things. But there was a high possibility of that, something I never thought about.
"It can't be." I said, unconvincing. I didn't even believe in myself.
"Alright, Missy. Whatever sinks your ship." Lily said rudely, flashed a smile at Gray who was already looking at us funny and focused on getting us home.
We drove all the way in silence. Lily was somewhat stiff, but I couldn't even be bothered.
I was still reeling from what happened with Chase.
I stole my first glance at them, and Chase was just like normal. I was the only one whose face was turning red at irregular intervals.
"I'll see you tomorrow." Lily said as she dropped me off.
"Bye, Boo." I blew her kisses and walked into the house. All I had to do was avoid him and everything would be alright.
I did my best to avoid Chase up until Senior Trip.
The class was bustling. People had started booking reservations. As expected, Grayson and Lily took a suite.
I was not only hurt, but broken and disappointed.
Lily was really in there with Gray. They seemed to be having the best relationship.
If they kept it up till prom, everyone knew our prom king and queen already.
Mark booked a suite for me alone anyway. I didn't have company, and it was good for me.
I could at least have some solitude after the day's oppression.
Senior Trip came, and we were flying to some island up north.
The trip took about two hours, but it sure seems longer to someone who was third wheeling with a lovestruck girl and her boyfriend.
Lily was irritating the fuck out of me, but I was happy that she was happy.
I couldn't care about Chase and Jessica. I barely even saw him since the shopping incident.
I kept to myself throughout.
We soon landed at the island. It was really beautiful and breezy too..
The air was different and I loved it.
Everyone was coupling and feeling cuddly, Lily inclusive.
I wore my sunshades to mask my irritation.
The Trip was a three day program and I planned to get the best out of it.
We were to visit some colleges, the beach, a museum and a conservation center.
The three days were planned and filled.
It was three pm Thursday, and the program started on Friday.
We soon checked into the hotel after which everyone retired to their suite to prepare for the next day.
I kinda wanted to stick around and see who went in with who, but I was too tired to care.
I located my room and went in without even informing Lily. I hated having to take excuse every single time I wanted to talk to her because she and Gray somehow never ran out of things to say.
I took out my phone and texted her, telling her I had found my room and I was retiring for the night.
The hotel service was great, I had all my food delivered to me, mainly because I opted for it. I was never going to be in the mood to eat with everyone else.
A nice little lady delivered dinner at about seven pm. I enjoyed every bit of the food in my room, watching a reality show I had been following since forever.
It seemed like paradise. Away from everyone and everything.
The first day passed, we went to the museum.
There wasn't a lot of drama as everyone was on their best behavior. I was a loner, so I got to look around and linger about a bit more.
We spent over six hours, before we were ushered back to our accommodation.
I was tired and spent. We had to wait extra time for the group pictures, and I didn't even appear in any.
Every squad, clique, and friend group took their pictures, even Lily and Gray, then Gray and Chase, then Chase was made to wait while the rest of their clique joined, including Jessica.
I looked away, because I felt more stung than I should've and I didn't like the feeling.
Lily said rumors had it that he apologized and they were on good terms.
He was the one in charge of making collages of our trip for the school yearbook and paper.
I thanked my stars. My mom wasn't so bothered about my school and stuff anymore, cause I wasn't going to be appearing in any pictures.
I'd rather take a bullet to my head than third wheel with Lily and Gray, even though Gray suggested it.
We were finally back and I got to hole myself up while waiting for my delivery.
The knock came at seven as expected.
"Come in." I said.
"I have a delivery for you Ma'am." Chase said, and he came in with chocolate and flowers.
I ran to the door immediately, dragged him in and banged it shut.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?" I demanded. "Trying to start rumors my reputation would not survive?" I was shocked, surprised and pissed all at once.
"I don't know if that is another way to put it." He replied, smiling.
"Well, get out." I said. "You haven't spent too long in here. They'd just think it's the wrong room." I added.
I still couldn't believe that the boy who kept snubbing me throughout the day was the one who showed up with flowers and chocolates.
"I'm where I need to be. Just calm down." He said, still smiling very widely.
"You have one minute. And your time starts now." I said, arms akimbo.
