Chase's POV
"I used to be a two ladies man." Fred said. "It sounds so dumb to me when I say it now, but I really did believe it then."
"What changed?" I asked him.
"I see you're impatient, just like the old me. Matter of fact, you remind me of myself as the seconds pass.
"I don't know if that is a compliment." I responded.
"Oh, it is. You're finding yourself, it sure is." Fred replied. "It took a couple of STDs to quit it, and seeing her broken too. I infected her a couple of times, so she decided to call it quits.I broke down for two months. My man here held the business for me. Then I went clean.
"That's fucked up man. I feel so bad for her." I replied to him.
"Well, that was her from the past. She's with a man who breathes her exhale, and eats off the palm of her hands." He said proudly.
"All you're doing is rubbing it in my face." I replied to him.
"I don't mean to, young man. All I'm saying is, I don't even know what I'm saying, I just want to get out of here and make her my wife." Fred burst into laughter. Ten minutes was over and so they got up to be on their way.
"Thanks man. Nothing substantial, but I appreciate it." I said while half hugging him.
"I really hope you got the part where you're not to lose a good thing. Fight for her man." With that, they left the flower shop, giddy and excited.
I picked some on my way out too and overpaid for it at the counter. The beautiful little girl gave me the brightest smile I had seen in a minute, second to only that of…
I went back to our lodge where Jessica and Mr Rudd were a little too cozy at the bar.
I walked past them. Mr Rudd and I were even. He was hanging out with a student on a school trip, and I was trespassing.
I went straight up to where I spied Emma entering.
She was staying alone, which was really good for me.
It was seven pm exactly. I was gonna miss dinner downstairs, but I wasn't hungry anyway.
As expected, she was shocked at first.
But I wasn't going to back down, definitely not tonight.
She gave me one minute to say what I came for, but I knew that just had Fred rambled away the ten minutes he spared me, I'd do the same if care wasn't taken.
And care wasn't taken, at all.
I stood with the flowers and chocolates in my hand and looked at her for exactly one minute.
Her defenses were already breaking and so instead of standing between the room and I, she got out of her way and sat on the bed.
Emma's eyes were on me, and I liked it.
Her bright green eyes peered so hard it was like she looked into my soul.
"Chase, you're wasting my time, you're about to ruin what is left of my reputation, can you at least do it fast?" She asked me.
She was no longer as hostile as she was earlier, just tired now.
"That, or you wanna catch up on your reality TV shows?" I asked her.
"How did you even know that? Have you been talking to Lily?" She asked me.
My heart skipped a bit whenever I and Lily were put in the same sentence.
"No." I said sternly, "Not that. I just know. And the answer to your question, I'm gonna be here with you, all night." Her eyes opened wider than I could ever give them credit for.
It was like she saw a ghost.
"Come on." I said. "It can't be that bad." I enjoyed seeing her look the way she did.
I locked the door from being and made myself comfortable on the chair.
"Chase, are you crazy?" She asked.
"What more stupid shit do I have to do for you to call my name?" I replied instead. "You know, you never really talk to me. I'm just hearing the sound of my name from your mouth, the cherry on the cake is you've been avoiding me since shopping." I said to her,
"I haven't." Her unsteady eyes gave her away, and she looked in some other direction.
"Oh, yeah you have." I confirmed.
"How would you even know that? You're barely home." She attacked me.
"That place is no home to me." I replied to her. "There's only one person who makes it feel like that." I added.
"I don't give a fuck who that is. I want you out, cause this place certainly doesn't feel like home with you in it." Her voice was pitches higher, but I knew the walls were soundproof, so I wasn't bothered.
The architects know better than to make a hotel without noise proof technology.
"It does to me. It has you in it." I replied to her.
"You get one more minute." Emma said, walked to the door, out her hand on the lock, the other on her waist and stared hard at me.
That was the only confirmation I needed.
I took my coat off and threw it on the bed, walked towards Emma, held her head in my hand, and brought her face to mine.
Our face was in such close proximity, I felt her warm breath blow on me.
I liked the smell of her, like I always have. She was my drug. She was intoxicating.
Her breathing got irregular and she blinked uncontrollably. Happy at the effect I had on her, I brought my lips to hers.
Emma's lips were plump and soft.
Her whole body was.
She didn't kiss me back, but she didn't resist either.
I took my lips off hers, and she was pink all over, too ashamed to look up.
I was proud of me. I took her to the bed, laid her down, leaned over her to get my coat and went out of her room to get my coat, against my will.
Emma looked so vulnerable and so fuckable too. But I wanted something beyond sex, so I was willing to pass up that one time.
I closed the door behind me, and went downstairs to the receptionist, with hopes for a free room.
