"If Mrs. Qian has no further requests, I'll take my leave now," Li Xin said, frustrated with herself. Why had she shamelessly gone over to her again? As soon as the other person showed a bit of warmth, she lost her composure.
"Wait, no matter how much money you want, I can give it to you, as long as you're willing to operate on him and save him," Yan Ruozhe called out to stop Li Xin from leaving.
Li Xin heard this and curled her lips into a mocking smile. If she truly loved money, she wouldn't have thrown the 10 million breakup fee in Yan Ruozhe is face.
Yan Ruozhe watched as Li Xin walked away without turning back, feeling a bit panicked. She realized that the outrageous demands Li Xin had made yesterday were serious.
"Li Xin, can you really save him?" Yan Ruozhe needed a definite answer from Li Xin.
Li Xin paused. She knew Yan Ruozhe had already made up her mind. She liked this decisive side of Yan Ruozhe always so resolute in her choices.
"I'm not 100% confident, but there's a 40-50% chance, which is already optimistic. Of course, you can wait until I successfully finish the surgery on Qian Shaowen and come out of the operating room to fulfill your promise," Li Xin said as she turned to look at Yan Ruozhe.
"Alright, let's do it," Yan Ruozhe agreed to Li Xin's terms. Debts must always be repaid. What she owed Qian Shaowen had to be returned, and what she owed Li Xin also needed repayment.
Seeing Yan Ruozhe agree to her terms, Li Xin felt conflicted. She wasn't happy because Yan Ruozhe was willing to sacrifice so much for Qian Shaowen, but she was pleased that if the surgery succeeded, Yan Ruozhe would agree to divorce Qian Shaowen and become her mistress. At that point, Yan Ruozhe would no longer belong to Qian Shaowen but to Li Xin, making her rightful claim legitimate.
"Yan Ruozhe, I've told you before, I'll wait for the day when you're mine and mine alone," Li Xin said as she walked up to Yan Ruozhe, gently caressing her cheek and whispering into her ear. The seemingly intimate gesture felt more like a declaration.
Yan Ruozhe listened to Li Xin's words with an expressionless face, but her heart filled with confusion. She didn't understand Li Xin. Why was Li Xin so obsessed with her? After all, a forced relationship would never be sweet.
Meanwhile, Qin Wanshu spent another night at Zuo Qinghuan's place. Although nothing too intense happened, they were sweetly entangled. Qin Wanshu didn't make any excuses for staying out last night. She simply turned off her phone, ensuring no one could reach her intentionally.
"You didn't come home last night, nor were you at Qin Teng or Shi Yunyang's place. Your phone was off. I hope you can give me a reasonable explanation," Han Shibin said. Coincidentally, he had seen Qin Teng and Shi Yunyang together at a social event last night, confirming Qin Wanshu wasn't with them. When he returned home to find her missing, it was clear she had spent the night with someone else. He suppressed his urge to question her harshly and spoke as calmly as possible.
"Actually, I want to give us an explanation too." Lies can't cover the truth forever, and eventually, they'll be exposed. Qin Wanshu never intended to continue with Han Shibin. She wasn't the type to cheat without guilt. Yesterday, seeing the bruises on Zuo Qinghuan's hand, she made up her mind, but she wouldn't confront Han Shibin in front of Zuo Qinghuan or Shi Yunyang.
"Forget it. I believe you wouldn't betray me. I'll go take a shower; I have work later," Han Shibin said, trying to suppress the unease he felt when facing Qin Wanshu's indifferent expression.
"Shibin, let's divorce," Qin Wanshu said calmly.
"What?" Han Shibin asked, unsure if he had heard her correctly. Her tone was too composed, making it seem like he must have misheard.
"Let's divorce," Qin Wanshu repeated, ensuring he understood.
"Why?" Han Shibin asked in disbelief.
"We're not suited for each other," Qin Wanshu replied. The reason might be generic and official, but it was often the least convincing.
"We weren't unsuited before. Why now? Is there someone else in your heart? Who is it? Were you with them last night?" Han Shibin grabbed her shoulders, agitated, and asked several questions in a row.
"Our divorce will be amicable. This is a decision I've thought about for a long time. If you need a reason, it's that I don't love you," Qin Wanshu said seriously, reaffirming her decision.
"I don't mind if you don't love me. I didn't mind before, and I won't mind now. But who is this person you're seeing?" Han Shibin demanded.
"There is no such person. I've told you my decision, and it won't change," Qin Wanshu insisted, unwilling to let Zuo Qinghuan get dragged into this.
"Ha! You've changed, Qin Wanshu. You never used to speak to me like this. That person must have a great influence on you. Fine, I'll tell you this I won't divorce you. I won't let you and that bastard have it easy!" Han Shibin shouted, consumed with jealousy.
"I don't want to make a scene. It won't benefit anyone," Qin Wanshu said, softening her tone but maintaining her firm stance.
"Then don't divorce me. You're just confused. You won't abandon our years of relationship," Han Shibin said, holding her hand tightly.
"Shibin, stop deceiving yourself. After so many years, I still couldn't fall in love with you. Problems between us are inevitable. You're an excellent man. Many women would genuinely love you. Instead of wasting your life with me, set yourself free and me too," Qin Wanshu said emotionally.
"What's wrong with me?" Han Shibin asked, unwilling to let go.
Realizing that nothing she said would get through to him, Qin Wanshu stopped trying to explain.
"I'm going upstairs to change and will return to the Qin family. Tonight, I'll send someone to move my things. We'll officially live apart," she said calmly. At that moment, Han Shibin finally felt the full weight of her cold resolve. This woman, once she made up her mind, left no room for reversal. Was that person really so captivating to her?
"Qin Wanshu, what is it about that person that draws you in?" Han Shibin shouted at her retreating figure.
Qin Wanshu slowed her steps slightly but didn't stop or answer. What attracted her to Zuo Qinghuan? Honestly, she didn't know. Zuo Qinghuan wasn't particularly outstanding, but being with her brought an inexplicable sense of ease and relaxation a feeling Han Shibin could never provide.
When Qin Wanshu returned to the Qin family, Han Shibin insisted on accompanying her.
"Are you two arguing?" Qin Zheng asked, surprised. His granddaughter and Han Shibin had always seemed harmonious since their marriage. The tense atmosphere now was unexpected.
"Grandpa, I've decided to divorce Shibin," Qin Wanshu said calmly. Her statement hit the Qin family harder than a bombshell.
