When they got home, while Qin Wanshu went to the bathroom to take a shower, Han Shibin took Qin Wanshu's phone from her bag and checked the call log and messages. However, he didn't find anything suspicious. Was he just being paranoid? He wasn't sure. After all, Qin Wanshu had always been careful not to leave obvious traces.
Han Shibin put Qin Wanshu's phone back in her bag and went to the bathroom to shower. He thought about it since she returned from her business trip, she hadn't let him touch her. She was his wife and should fulfill her marital duties.
Han Shibin took a quick shower and then sat on the sofa waiting for Qin Wanshu.
When Qin Wanshu came out and saw that Han Shibin was waiting for her, she knew what his intentions were. However, she found herself increasingly resistant to his touch.
"Shibin, let's talk," Qin Wanshu said as she walked over and sat on the sofa opposite him.
"Talk about what?" Han Shibin raised an eyebrow in response.
"Maybe I really do have frigidity. I hate these kinds of things, so I don't want to..." Qin Wanshu started, but Han Shibin interrupted her. Qin Wanshu rarely used strong words she might say she didn't like something, but she'd almost never use the word "hate." But this made sense; in the past, she simply disliked such matters. Since learning of Han Shibin's affair, her dislike had slowly turned into hatred, and now it had evolved into an extreme aversion.
"You are my wife. I don't expect you to fulfill your duties every day, but at least like before once a week or every ten days would be enough," Han Shibin said, his tone becoming more forceful.
"Sorry, I don't think I can do that," Qin Wanshu decisively refused.
"It was fine before, why not now? Or..." Han Shibin asked, clearly frustrated.
"Or what?" Qin Wanshu asked with a smile.
"Or is there someone else in your heart?" Han Shibin didn't want to make this assumption, but he couldn't help it. While his wife's attitude hadn't dramatically changed, he could feel her slowly distancing herself.
"You're overthinking it. Anyway, in a little while, I'll give you an explanation," Qin Wanshu replied. She knew she couldn't drag things out forever, but she wasn't ready to give him an answer yet.
"What kind of explanation?" Han Shibin asked, sensing it wouldn't be something good.
At that moment, Qin Wanshu's phone rang. It was a call from Qin Teng.
"Sis, Shi Yunyang asked me to call you and invite you out. She said you'd want to come," Qin Teng said.
"Is there a problem with the evaluation?" Qin Wanshu knew exactly what Shi Yunyang meant she wanted to give her an excuse to leave, knowing that she had few legitimate reasons to go out at night. This time, Qin Wanshu appreciated Shi Yunyang's mischief. She wasn't ready to give Han Shibin an explanation just yet, and she hadn't fully made up her mind, but she felt the answer would come soon.
Qin Teng could tell that his sister had been correctly guessed by Shi Yunyang she really did want to leave.
"I'm nearby, I'll come pick you up," Qin Teng said.
"Okay," Qin Wanshu replied, ending the call.
"The evaluation Qin Teng is working on hit a snag. I need to go over and help," Qin Wanshu lied to Han Shibin.
"Why doesn't he come here himself?" Han Shibin's dissatisfaction with Qin Teng was becoming more and more obvious.
"The mistake was my oversight, so I need to fix it," Qin Wanshu replied. Since the first lie, it had become easier to tell more.
"What kind of mistake is so urgent? Can't it wait until tomorrow?" Han Shibin wasn't ready to end their conversation, and he noticed that Qin Wanshu had been out more frequently in the evenings.
"The bidding for the stock auction is tomorrow morning..." Qin Wanshu said, pretending to be conflicted.
"Fine, call me when you're done, and I'll come pick you up," Han Shibin reluctantly agreed, knowing that these matters weren't trivial.
"There's no need, it might take a while. You can come get me tomorrow morning," Qin Wanshu said, lightly kissing Han Shibin on the cheek to soothe him.
This sudden display of affection reassured Han Shibin a little. Whenever she went on business trips, she would kiss him on the cheek like this as a farewell, making him feel like things were returning to normal. However, he still couldn't shake his unease entirely.
"Qin Teng, don't let your sister work too late," Han Shibin said when he saw Qin Teng arrive to pick up Qin Wanshu.
"Of course, she's not just your wife she's my sister too. I wouldn't let her get too tired," Qin Teng replied, though he wasn't concerned about whether his sister's affair was tiring her out or not. He opened the car door for her, and Qin Wanshu got into the passenger seat.
Watching Qin Teng drive off with Qin Wanshu, Han Shibin went to his car as well. It had been over a month since he had been with a woman. When Qin Wanshu refused him before, he could still turn to Zuo Qinghuan, but now even she had disappeared. Though he couldn't find a mistress as perfect as Zuo Qinghuan, he knew there were plenty of other women willing to indulge him. He was furious as he thought about this.
Zuo Qinghuan had been waiting for Qin Wanshu's call. The night was almost over, and still, there was no call. Qin Wanshu had promised to call her in secret, and Zuo Qinghuan knew she wasn't the type to break a promise. Could it be that Han Shibin had kept her tied up, preventing her from making time for a call?
Zuo Qinghuan stayed close to her phone, worried she might miss it.
Finally, Qin Wanshu's call came.
"Come outside and open the door I've got a gift for you," Qin Wanshu said before hanging up.
Zuo Qinghuan ran to the door in excitement, eager to see what gift Qin Wanshu had brought.
When she opened the door and saw Qin Wanshu smiling at her, Zuo Qinghuan froze. No one had ever surprised her like this, and her heart filled with joy. Unable to control herself, she threw her arms around Qin Wanshu.
Seeing that Zuo Qinghuan was barefoot, Qin Wanshu realized she had rushed to the door without even putting on slippers clearly, she had been eagerly awaiting the "gift."
"Qin Wanshu, what am I going to do? I like you so much, so, so much," Zuo Qinghuan whispered softly in Qin Wanshu's ear.
Qin Wanshu smiled faintly. Who would have thought that sneaking out in the middle of the night and lying to meet Zuo Qinghuan such a wild act would feel so natural to her now?
"Let's go inside," Qin Wanshu reminded her. She didn't want to stay hugging by the door.
Meanwhile, Han Shibin was in his car, calling Shi Yunyang.
"Are you free tomorrow for lunch?" Han Shibin asked.
"What for?" Shi Yunyang responded, knowing that most of Han Shibin's calls were connected to Qin Wanshu.
"There's a new French restaurant nearby would you like to try it?"
"I'm not really in the mood for French food lately, but there's a new café near the Qin office with great coffee and desserts. How about we go there instead?" Shi Yunyang replied quickly, redirecting Han Shibin to Zuo Qinghuan's café. She wondered if Han Shibin would pretend not to know Zuo Qinghuan if they ran into her there, and how Zuo Qinghuan might react. If Qin Wanshu showed up too, it would be even more interesting.
"Alright, let's do that," Han Shibin agreed. His real intention wasn't the meal, but to extract some information from Shi Yunyang. Little did he know, he was the one being played.
