Chapter 50
"You're dressed too lightly." Qin Wanshu saw Zuo Qinghuan rush out wearing only a thin garment and was worried she might catch a cold.
"Wait for me here; I'll be right out," Zuo Qinghuan said before quickly running back into the café. She communicated something to the waiter, grabbed her bag and coat, and rushed back out.
"Take your time." Qin Wanshu reached out to help Zuo Qinghuan open her coat so she could put it on.
"What do you want to eat tonight?" Zuo Qinghuan asked as she cooperatively slid her arms into her coat.
"Just something simple," Qin Wanshu replied, as she wasn't very picky about food.
Zuo Qinghuan hugged Qin Wanshu from behind while she was washing dishes. Ever since the last time Qin Wanshu washed the dishes, Zuo Qinghuan had wanted to do this, and now she finally had a legitimate reason to do so.
Qin Wanshu was suddenly embraced, pausing her movements. She could clearly feel how much Zuo Qinghuan loved to cling to her.
"Why are you so clingy?" Qin Wanshu asked softly.
"Because it's you, I want to cling to you." Zuo Qinghuan said proudly, "I wouldn't cling to anyone else."
"You go back to the living room first. If you hug me, I can't wash the dishes," Qin Wanshu noticed that Zuo Qinghuan was holding her quite tightly.
"I'll wash. Your hands aren't suitable for washing dishes." Qin Wanshu's fingers were incredibly precious. More importantly, she had a very beautiful pair of hands, long and delicate like scallions, and using them to wash dishes would really be a waste.
"There's nothing inappropriate about it." Qin Wanshu didn't stop washing the dishes.
"Your fingers are extremely beautiful. I really like them, so you should take good care of them." Zuo Qinghuan took the bowl from Qin Wanshu; she didn't want to ruin Qin Wanshu's beautiful hands, or she would feel guilty. She shouldn't have let Qin Wanshu wash the dishes last time; she wasn't as involved as she was now.
"Isn't it just a matter of superficial appearance?" Qin Wanshu said disdainfully.
"Qin Wanshu, do you like my superficial appearance?" Zuo Qinghuan leaned her face closer to Qin Wanshu's, allowing her to examine her closely.
Qin Wanshu looked at Zuo Qinghuan's face, which was very close to hers. Zuo Qinghuan had an ethereal beauty that was quite charming, and Qin Wanshu couldn't deny that she nodded.
"When people spend time together, they will know if their personalities match, but at first, it really depends on appearance. At first glance, I liked how you looked, and that sparked my interest in getting closer to you. The attraction that followed was due to everything about Qin Wanshu." The more time she spent with Qin Wanshu, the more attractive she became.
Qin Wanshu didn't deny Zuo Qinghuan's words because, during the first two times she met Zuo Qinghuan, she didn't like her behavior. However, she felt a certain sympathy for Zuo Qinghuan's somewhat misleading appearance, so she didn't really hate her, believing that looks come from the heart.
"No matter how beautiful a person is, there will come a day when we will age." Qin Wanshu sighed lightly.
"Qin Wanshu, are you worried that you will age faster than me?" Zuo Qinghuan asked. For the first time, she realized that her only advantage over Qin Wanshu was being a few years younger; this advantage was almost insignificant compared to someone as exceptional as Qin Wanshu.
Qin Wanshu looked at Zuo Qinghuan without answering. Competing with age was not her style; she accepted what couldn't be changed. However, since Zuo Qinghuan had taken the bowl, Qin Wanshu decided to accompany her and just wait beside her.
"Qin Wanshu, even if you one day become an old woman, you will definitely be the most elegant and beautiful among them." Zuo Qinghuan said to Qin Wanshu sincerely, truly believing this.
Qin Wanshu smiled silently at this. She had never thought so far ahead. Zuo Qinghuan's words made her realize that even young Zuo Qinghuan would also be considered old by then. Aging together with Zuo Qinghuan might not be a bad idea, but it seemed that she was really thinking too far ahead.
"Qin Wanshu, you really are a bit monotonous; you rarely respond to my words. I say three sentences, and you respond with only one." Zuo Qinghuan protested unhappily.
"I'm fine just listening to you." Qin Wanshu said gently.
"It's strange; I don't talk this much with others." Zuo Qinghuan felt that Qin Wanshu made her seem less like herself.
Because that person allowed her to drop all defenses, she was willing to say anything to her, and that was why she talked more and more.
"I don't mind if you talk too much." Qin Wanshu joked, feeling relaxed around Zuo Qinghuan.
"I'm not talking too much!" Zuo Qinghuan protested.
Zuo Qinghuan quickly finished washing the dishes and then returned to the living room with Qin Wanshu.
"Do you want to watch a movie?" Zuo Qinghuan thought it was still early and they had plenty of time to do other things.
"Sure." Qin Wanshu did not refuse. In fact, she rarely watched movies. When she did, she usually chose more serious documentaries and almost never watched soap operas or melodramas.
Zuo Qinghuan had many random movies in her cabinet—horror films, soap operas, science fiction, and even a lesbian film. At that time, Li Xin had tried very hard to convince her to watch a high-quality action movie together, but Zuo Qinghuan wasn't very interested and asked Li Xin to swap.
After rummaging through the collection for a while, Zuo Qinghuan finally found the lesbian movie among a pile of DVDs. She put it in the player, ran back to the sofa next to Qin Wanshu, and whispered something mischievous in her ear.
"Qin Wanshu, let's watch an erotic movie!"
Qin Wanshu's expression froze. Zuo Qinghuan's words reminded her of when Zuo Qinghuan said, "Let's have a relationship," which had a similar tone.
"Can we swap?" Qin Wanshu asked shyly.
"No, Qin Wanshu, you can't reject these things. They are part of human nature. Freud once said that sex is the primary instinct of humans," Zuo Qinghuan said seriously, lecturing her naive friend.
"But..." Qin Wanshu found this very strange.
"Qin Wanshu, have you ever watched this before?" Zuo Qinghuan asked curiously.
Qin Wanshu shook her head. The education she received was very traditional, mainly focusing on Chinese classics, including Neo-Confucianism Cheng-Zhu. Many of these topics were fundamental knowledge for appreciating antiques, so Qin Wanshu always built a solid foundation. Although Shi Yunyang had shown her some of these chaotic things before, Qin Wanshu had always consciously avoided them.
"Are you not curious at all?" Zuo Qinghuan kept asking, finding Qin Wanshu incredibly obedient.
Qin Wanshu shook her head; she had never been curious.
"You are such a well-behaved woman. It seems that from the beginning, you did not reject the idea of being seduced by me, a woman. Why is that?" Zuo Qinghuan found it surprising that this woman showed no resistance to the idea of a lesbian relationship.
"Old stories of cut sleeves, Long Yang, and shared peaches were not uncommon. Emperors cut their sleeves for their male favorites, which showed that they really liked them, regardless of gender. Moreover, during the Ming and Qing dynasties, there were many customs in the Shunde region of Guangdong, where silk girls chose not to marry and wished to remain virgins for life. These silk girls formed alliances, made blood pacts, and promised never to marry outside, becoming sworn sisters, living as husband and wife, sharing fortune and misfortune, and remaining dedicated for life. I believe that this kind of relationship is very sincere." Qin Wanshu felt that feelings were independent of gender; what mattered was the ability to remain committed to one another.
So, did Qin Wanshu really expect to maintain a pure relationship with her, as if they were to become sworn sisters like those silk girls? But Zuo Qinghuan had no intention of maintaining such a pure relationship with Qin Wanshu.
"Qin Wanshu, you don't want to be my sister, do you?" Zuo Qinghuan asked uncertainly.
Qin Wanshu shook her head. She had a younger sister and didn't want to have overly intimate behavior with her. Perhaps what she wanted was a relationship that was somewhere between familial love and romantic love—close like lovers, but also intimate like family.
"That's good." Zuo Qinghuan thought that if Qin Wanshu only wanted to be her sister, she might as well run into a wall and die. After all, she had immoral and impure thoughts about Qin Wanshu.
"Are these things really that important?" Qin Wanshu believed that feelings were more important than anything.
"Pleasurable feelings are important, and the body can also be pleasurable. Since both can coexist, why discard one of these benefits?" Zuo Qinghuan retorted.
Qin Wanshu thought for a moment and found some logic in it.
