Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

"Don't worry, boss. I understand completely," Chu Ge replied absently, his mind preoccupied with thoughts of when his new female secretary would arrive.

[System, is my secretary loyal to me?]

[Rest assured, host. All rewards given after selection are loyal to you and cannot be swayed.]

Relieved, Chu Ge realized he could delegate certain tasks. He also remembered that after helping his boss overcome her difficulties, the top business talents promised by the system would become available.

Liu Yanru felt reassured by Chu Ge's apparent understanding of the situation.

Just then, her phone rang. After a brief conversation, she hung up, her expression turning serious.

"The shareholders are demanding an immediate general meeting," she informed Chu Ge.

Liu Yanru held 35% of Moyu Group's shares, making her the largest shareholder. While the meeting couldn't directly remove her from her position, it could create numerous problems.

This was likely Zhao Lingyun's strategy to pressure her. Liu Yanru hoped it wasn't worse than she imagined.

Chu Ge understood that their opponents were launching a direct attack on Moyu Group. The simplest solution, he mused, would be to eliminate the source of the problem rather than just addressing its symptoms.

As they arrived at the meeting room, Chu Ge waited outside while Liu Yanru entered. He observed the other shareholders' bodyguards and personal assistants, noting the contrast between the imposing guards and the alluring secretaries.

Suddenly, Chu Ge's phone vibrated. He stepped aside to answer the unfamiliar number.

"Hello, who is this?"

"Boss, I'm the secretary you recruited. I've just started today."

Chu Ge's eyes lit up. "I need you to arrange surveillance on someone named Ye Feng. He'll be easy to find through his sister, Ye Yao. I'll send you their information. Set up an account for operational funds, and I'll transfer money today."

Unable to register a company yet, Chu Ge had to rely on his secretary for less-than-legal activities. His plan was coming together.

"Understood, boss," the secretary replied, her voice sending shivers down Chu Ge's spine.

An hour later, Liu Yanru emerged from the meeting, clearly upset. Chu Ge followed silently, sensing her mood.

Inside the conference room, a middle-aged man reported to someone on the phone:

"Don't worry, Young Master Yun. That woman won't last long."

"Excellent. Your shares are safe."

"This matter is settled. Feel free to call on me for future needs."

The man hung up, relieved to have secured his own interests while other shareholders weren't so fortunate.

Back in her office, Liu Yanru's expression softened slightly.

"The meeting was clearly orchestrated by someone behind the scenes. The shareholders moved as one, like puppets," she said, discouraged. "Zhao Lingyun must have gotten to them. With his influence, it's no surprise they suddenly united."

"So, what's their goal? To make you abandon the acquisition plan?" Chu Ge inquired, unsurprised by the outcome.

"If only it were that simple," Liu Yanru sighed. "Whether I agree or not, they're selling their shares to Zhao Lingyun. Once he has more shares than me, he'll call another meeting to remove me as chairman. Without that position, my shares could be bought out at a low price."

Liu Yanru hadn't expected the shareholders to yield so easily to Zhao Lingyun. It demonstrated the family's dominance in Yuncheng.

"Soon, I might not be your boss anymore," she continued, contemplating selling her shares at a good price and starting over in another city.

"You could come with me," she added shyly. "Though the salary might not be as high."

"Boss, it hasn't come to that yet," Chu Ge said slowly. "Do you believe I can solve this problem?"

Intrigued, Liu Yanru asked what he needed.

"A year's salary in advance," Chu Ge replied. "I need to hire people."

"You're not planning to kill Zhao Lingyun, are you?" Liu Yanru asked, shocked at the possibility.

"No, nothing like that," Chu Ge assured her with a mysterious smile. "I'll make others willing to do such things."

"Alright," Liu Yanru agreed. "But I'll give you the money directly. Your regular salary will continue as usual."

Taking a deep breath, she transferred 1 billion to Chu Ge personally. It was a gamble, but if it worked...

"Is this enough?" she asked. Most of her wealth was tied up in Moyu Group shares, with her personal assets just over 1 billion.

"More than enough," Chu Ge replied, surprised by her generosity.

"It's not too much. Even if it were 10 billion, I'd find a way if it meant dealing with Zhao Lingyun," Liu Yanru declared. "Chu Ge, I'm counting on you. If you succeed, there'll be a substantial bonus."

"Don't worry, boss. I've got this," Chu Ge assured her with a teasing smile. "Will you be included in that bonus package?"

"Oh, you," Liu Yanru snorted softly, amused by his flirtatious comment.

Chu Ge remained optimistic. His plan kept him at arm's length from any direct involvement. Even if something happened to Zhao Lingyun, the Zhao family would never suspect him.

Liu Yanru, however, might face consequences due to her connection to Ye Feng.
