"Hmph, so you actually came here on foot. Not even a horse to your name, I see."
Sloveni sneered down at me from her noble family's carriage, which was pulled by two well-bred horses. Two maids accompanied her, seated primly beside her as though on a pleasure trip rather than a dangerous expedition.
Crafty, however, had loaded his supplies onto a horse, outfitted with camping gear. At least he seemed somewhat prepared for the rigors of travel.
Karel, the healer, also arrived in a carriage, though without any additional attendants besides the driver. Whether he was being frugal or just preferred solitude, I couldn't be sure.
But none of that mattered. I reached into my storage spell and drew out my flying seat, an ancient artifact from the time of the Magic Kingdom. It floated as I settled onto it, rising a few inches off the ground.
"What's that?" Sloveni demanded, her eyes narrowing.
