We'd finally reached the orc settlement. Their village was primitive—log-built houses with thatched roofs from plants resembling reeds.

"I'll take the front. You two cover me," Crafty declared, taking charge.

"Right," I replied, while the other two nodded in agreement.

I couldn't help but wonder, Why is he taking the lead?

I threw out a sarcastic comment, "Guess that means I'm free to do nothing here?"

He scoffed. "I'm not so low that I need help from a commoner."

Ah, there it was—the arrogance of nobility. In this world, I was just a lowly "commoner," the shadow figure of a rogue with ties to the underworld.

Without further ado, Crafty drew his sword and charged.
