Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Location: Lothran City

Huff...huff...

The sound of rugged breathing echoed out in a desolate alley of the city. The source of the breathing, Rein Crowmore, looks like he's on the brink of passing out.

'How the fuck did this happen? What the fuck was that creature?' He thought as he tries to calm himself.

It all started going downhill when he entered this alleyway. He doesn't usually go through this shortcut because of the rumors circulating the alleyways of Lothran City but if he wanted to get home on time he risked it.

For the first 5 minutes it was normal, no odd stuff can be seen and the feel of the place is the same with all other alleyways, damp and gloomy. But after another 5 minutes he started to feel weird, the air seems stale and the darkness seems to be turning darker.

And that's when it appeared. A creature of unknown origin, its appearance is otherworldly. The creature resembles the endless and bleak space, it makes those who see it feel hollow, sapped of their sanity and strength.

Rein's moment of respite was interrupted by something. A distant sound was heard, a deep rumble of something or someone, he's not sure but it can't be good in any case.

Oum....oum.....oum...

'It's near. How am I supposed to get away from this thing?' Rein slowly stands up as he thinks of way to survive. Whatever that thing is its out for blood and Rein is the unfortunate cattle.

Rein sneaks around the various debris in the run down warehouse he found himself in. He thought he might get away with hiding inside but it seems he just entered the lair of that creature.

The place was full of unusual marking and there are holes that seems to be caused by compressed space imploding into itself.

In the distance a door can be seen. That is what Rein hopes to reach before getting caught by the creature. He is slowly but surely making his way through the warehouse.

When he was 5 meters away from the exit he was interrupted by a sudden explosion. The creature has rammed through the entrance of the warehouse.

Rein's eyes widened as he immediately ran towards the exit door hoping that the creature would not see him before he can leave. But his hopes is shattered as the creature somehow appeared before him.

He was forced to stop and run toward another direction, his body aching worse than earlier from the strain. He kept running around the leftover construction materials and debris in the efforts of hopefully making the creature bored of coming after him.

Just as he turned around another piles of construction materials he was put face to face with the very same creature he was running away from.

Crash!

Another loud bang echoed out behind him as he was thrown to the side due to the shockwave. He tried to hurriedly regain his balance as he scoured the area only to see that he wasn't running away from just one of those creatures he was running away from dozens of them.

"What... What the fuck?" He cursed as he scrambled onto his feet.

Oum...oum...oum...oum

The creatures seems to be agitated, they started to shine a dark light as if readying themselves. When their light turned blinding an explosion once again erupted but this time there is no sound and the blinding light is gone but instead a black hole was grinding against other black holes of smaller sizes.

Rein in all this chaos has managed to run a sufficient distance to safely observed whatever is happening with those creatures.

A flash of dark light erupts everytime a black hole strikes another. The dark light that was produced with their clash rends the ground leaving a completely smooth scar.

The largest of the black holes seems to be fighting against all the smaller ones. It's constantly shooting out dark lights, when one black hole was hit by the dark light it started to distort as if becoming unstable causing it to become static in the air.

The largest black hole then rushes towards it as it encases the incapacitated black hole. And in just a second there is one less black hole the largest one have to deal with.

The fight of these black holes cause widespread destruction as they move from one place to another. The area where Rein is hiding is not so safe anymore and he was forced to run away again. As the chaos ensued so does Rein's struggle for survival.

Rein was running from a falling section of the roof when he was suddenly struck by a piece of rebar. It punctured through his stomach going out of his back, he stumbled as extreme amounts of pain surged through his body.

With hazy eyes and uneven breathing he desperately dragged his body further from the chaos. But he can only go so far before a deep thud rang behind him. Rein forced himself to look behind as he took a quick rest.

Behind him was the shell of all the creatures that caused all these problems to him. His eyes burned with hate, filled with newfound strength he dragged his body towards the body of the creature.

"If I'm going to die I won't die without repaying what I was owed!" He shouted as he knelt in front of the creature.

O...um...

An almost inaudible sound came from the creature. Rein thought it was already dead and was hoping to just spite it.

He gritted his teeth as he pulled out the rebar from his stomach, he almost passed out as he used the rebar to stay upright.

After a bit of a struggle he now stands over the body of the creature. He raises the rebar above his head and with all his strength stabbed the body. He kept stabbing and stabbing and stabbing, the creature's body riddled with holes oozing out blood that seems to resemble the vastness of space.

Rein having expended all his strength and the adrenaline fading away, once again was assaulted by burning pain from the wound caused by the rebar.

"Damn... I did not think that my last day on this earth would be spent doing pointless errands for those pieces of shit of the University. Well I had a good run." He bitterly smiled as his body fell on top of the mangled body of the creature.

The chaos of the night has now calmed. Restoring the peace and quiet that was supposed to be.

Rein's body lie motionlessly over the creature, his blood flowing down toward the cosmic blood of the creature. As the first droplet of Rein's blood touches the pool of cosmic blood it caused a weird phenomenon.

The pool of cosmic blood is gaining luster, it once again is alive. The blood is without a body and it just so happens that there is a great host just on top of it. The cosmic blood crawled onto Rein's body, as tendrils of viscous and dark blood encases him.

Rein's body started to float as it curls up into a fetal position. While his body was suspended in the air the cosmic blood started to form a cocoon.

The cocoon hardened into a crystal-like substance. It shimmers with the feeling of endlessness and nothingness. It is everything and nothing all at once.

The body inside the cocoon is being reformed, refitted to be able to control what it will inevitably consume. Rein's flesh, bone and blood was reduced to pure energy that is now used to make him anew.

His bones was the first to be reformed, it radiated a feeling of oppression. Then came his organs, they are unexplainably pure and seems to be exuding a mystical feeling. And lastly his flesh, skin and hair is reformed, his flesh brimming with power while his appearance has grown to have rivaled those naturally handsome individuals.

His hair seems to have gained a deeper shade of black. His change has only taken half an hour at that point the cocoon turned into the cosmic blood again and was absorbed by his body.

His metamorphosis was complete, he is now more than just a mortal, more than just a human. He had become a Vicer.

Whoosh~

The sound of a sudden gust rang through the warehouse as a figure emerges from the dark. He was clothed with normal office worker clothes, his appearance is unassuming and that is the point after all he was supposed to be covert.

"Tsk... I was too late." He clicked his tounge as he approached the mangled body of the Sin he was assigned to capture.

"Oh? What this then? A human body and it seems to be in perfect condition. That can only mean one thing. He had undergone Metamorphosis." He muttered with a curious look on his face.

He took out something from his pocket. A communicator of sorts. His communicator vibrated for a bit before a voice was heard.

"Agent #22, what is the subject of this report?" A strict voice of a woman sounded from his communicator.

"I'm calling for a Repenter. Tell the boss that I have failed in capturing the target but I have a Vicer that have metamorphed using it's essence. I will bring him in for testing." He reports as he picks up the limp body of Rein.
