Chapter 13 - The Races and their Origins A

"One of the things my sister taught me hard was to read. I remember I didn't like it, but one day she brought me a picture book with drawings which I really liked. It was a story about a person called Dragon Slayer, who defeated evil. However, it was a children's story, surely it wasn't real. Well, it's time."

The book had the title "The 9 Races". It didn't seem to be old, rather it gave the impression that it hadn't been there long and was very well kept. Having finished looking at the cover, I open it and start reading. After a while, I get to the first explanation.

"The race of the elves."

"The elves are originally from the continent located to the East, called Keun Namu, one of the largest continents. On their own continent they are known as the Xotic, but outside they are better known as elves. They are distinguished by their long, pointed ears, as well as having a natural affinity with the Fire and Plant Systems. They usually live in five great trees, which represent the cardinal points according to their location: North, South, East, West, and the most important, the Central Tree, where the most powerful Xotic live. The presentation of the Xotic varies depending on which tree they come from. For example: I am *** from the North Tree."

After finishing the chapter on elves, I moved on to the next one, which deals with demi-humans.

"The race of the demi-humans."

"The half-humans are known throughout the world as the Tyrios and consider themselves to be the best hunters, due to their extraordinary physical abilities, especially their mammoth strength and keen instincts. This breed possesses unique abilities depending on the animal they resemble. They have very noticeable characteristics, as most Tyrios have animal ears and tails, and some even have quite visible fur covering part of their body. Their favorite sport is dueling in the famous Columsu, the largest and most competitive coliseum of all, where only warriors who make it through the heats can compete. This race is found on a small continent to the south, called Jagen. When they meet someone new, they introduce themselves as normal humans, but if they are elite Tyrios, their introduction goes like this: 'I am *** Scale Hunter'. The latter refers to the trophy they get after slaying a dragon on their own, surpassing their own physical capabilities. In addition to receiving the title, this act awakens new physical abilities in them."

"This race of Tyrios seems very strong, especially the elite rank ones. I wonder how powerful they will be."

After finishing the chapter on the Tyrios, I continued with the chapter on the Demon.

"The Demon race."

"The Demon or Demond are natives of the great continent Velkya, located to the West. They are distinguished by the color of their eyes, as they have a completely black eyeball and a red iris. They also have ears slightly longer than those of a human, although shorter than those of an elf. This race possesses no special qualities, but is notable for being the most numerous of all, as they inhabit the largest continent and have considerable overpopulation."

"I am somewhat familiar with the Demond, as it is common to see them trading in the slums. I recall seeing them on a few occasions selling slaves."

The next chapter dealt with the Kompus.

"The Kompus race."

"The Kompus are known among humans as vampires. They are possessors of far more advanced technology than any other race, and are respected for being scientists who revolutionize the world through their advances in technology, they also value scientific knowledge above all else. Physically, they are identical to humans, except for a pair of fangs in their jaw. They tend to dress smartly wherever they go, and their pride varies according to the generation to which they belong. So far, six generations have been identified: from the second to the sixth are considered half-breeds, while the first generation are called Primordials. It is not known how many exist, but they make up less than one percent of their population. Primordials are extremely powerful and have overwhelming abilities, their main system being the Dark element. They are located south of the Velkya continent, sharing territory with the Demond. Kompus can live hundreds of years, depending on how much blood they absorb, although this was forbidden for half-breeds, being an exclusive privilege of the Primordials."

"For some reason, I don't like this race. It's as if I have a bad feeling telling me to stay away from them."

As I finished reading about the Kompus, I approached the next chapter, entitled "The Humans."

"The Race of Humans."

"Humans inhabit the second largest continent, called the Central Continent. This is in the middle of all the other continents, and is the largest trader of all the races, as it connects the routes to the other continents. Thanks to this, it is the continent with the most mercantile movement. Humans are the main suppliers of the world's traded currency. Although they are the weakest race, they have managed to survive thanks to their cunning and economy. Humans are compatible with any of the seven major systems without ever unlocking their full power like the other races, but no human has managed to match the power of the first emperor of the realm, Arthur, considered the strongest of the Empire of Britain over 1500 years ago. Unlike the other races, the human empire is not ruled by a single authority, but is divided into six distinct kingdoms. The most important is the Kingdom of Balchder, the largest and most prosperous of the six. Near this kingdom is the Thracian Cadet Academy."

"So Arthur was the most powerful many years ago. But what good does it do you to be the strongest if you can't avoid death? What a waste of talent. If he had been born into another race, instead of being human he would have been even more powerful."

Well, I guess I'll move on to the next chapter.
