Once seated, it was time for class. All the students were supposed to be inside by now, but of the 25 students I saw last time, there are only 17 here.
"Maybe the students are running late," I thought.
All of us already in our places waited for the professor... waited... waited... waited... and kept waiting, but Professor Alexander was not coming. At that moment there were murmurs from the classroom.
— Why isn't the professor coming?
— The professor was already late.
— It is unacceptable for a teacher in this academy to be late without notice.
Those were some of the things the students were muttering. At that moment, Gisei spoke to me in a bored tone.
— Hey, subordinate, that teacher is already late, is he coming?
— I guess so, remember he told us to come today, boss.
At that moment, the door of the classroom opened and, at the same time, the professor entered nonchalantly, now with an unkempt appearance. He wore only a white shirt, black pants and a pair of shoes. As he entered, he spoke to the group in a slightly irritated tone.
— Sorry I'm late, brats. It's just that I missed my alarm and overslept because I had a very important commitment to attend to yesterday.
Arriving at the desk, he took a seat and put his arms up as a pillow to lie down. Without another word, he bent his head to sleep. The whole room was silent, not knowing what to say to this situation, but in a low voice Gisei was heard to complain.
— What's going on? After being late, he has the audacity to fall asleep. Besides, he reeks of alcohol. Shouldn't it be forbidden to arrive in such a condition?
— You're right, boss. He probably has a hangover, he should have stayed and rested instead of coming," I commented with a straight face.
— But are you stupid or what? He shouldn't have been drinking to begin with if he was going to teach. He has no respect for teaching!
After the murmuring continued, a student stood up from his place at the front of the room. He was a brown-haired, dark-eyed, well-built boy, about 5'9" tall. In a firm voice, he spoke to the professor.
— Professor, don't you think it's time to start class? You're already late, it's time to make up for lost time.
After he was the first to speak, most of the students began to follow his words.
— You are right, professor, we should start.
— Professor, wake up and start the class!
— You have to give us the lesson, professor!
After listening to them for a while, the professor, a little irritated, got up from his chair and spoke to us.
— Hey, kid, what's your name? -he asked, looking at the first one who got up to speak. He answered with a little less confidence.
— I'm Naoki Kendo, teacher.
— I got it, brat, you can sit down. Since you are all eager to learn, I will teach you my specialty," he mentioned, smiling.
Without another word, Alexander went to the blackboard and began to write. We all watched him expectantly. When he finished, we were amazed at what he wrote. Now, a little more animated, the teacher turned around and spoke to us.
— This will be today's topic, brats: it will be self-study class. Now if anyone has any questions, don't look for me because you won't find me.
The room was silent again as we watched the professor leave without any sorrow or fear on his face, only showing fatigue from the hangover. After he left and left us alone, the room was filled with murmurs against him.
— Did you see what that scoundrel said, Hikaru? -asked Gisei, angrily.
— Did I see it? I lived it! Hahaha.
— It doesn't seem to bother you, subordinate," said Gisei with a tired face.
— Well, he had told us before, remember, "If you want me to teach you, show me your determination," or something like that was what he said. So I guess this is what he means. Anyway, I'm leaving now, boss.
— I remember something like that, but where are you going? Aren't you going to study?
— It's self-study, but we can do whatever we want, so I'm going to train. Bye bye, boss!
After that, I left the classroom, and soon after that everyone did the same. I headed to the second floor, where the training room is.
"Good thing I knew we weren't going to be taught by the teacher. From the way he spoke the first time, it was pretty obvious that he wouldn't teach us that easily. In fact, I don't know if he really wants to teach us anything."
When I arrived, I noticed that everything was the same as I left it yesterday, so I started to get ready. I took off my clothes and was down to just a pair of athletic shorts that I wore under my uniform.
"Good, this way it will be more comfortable and I won't get sweat all over my uniform. Tomorrow I'll bring my workout uniform to leave here."
My routine consisted of a gentle warm-up followed by an intense one, with basic exercises such as push-ups, squats, dumbbell lifts, among others. Then, I turned on the running machine to start with a slow jog and then run at maximum speed for as long as I could. To finish, I did half an hour of what boxers know as shadowing. After all that, I ended up exhausted and sat down for a few moments to recover.
"I managed to complete the second day. Even if the motivation was not the same as yesterday, I must not lower the intensity. I must continue with this pace, maybe in a few months the changes will be noticeable."
I got up and did a couple of stretches, but at that point I started to get hungry.
— I'm already getting hungry. After I take a shower, I'll go to the school cafeteria.
I proceeded to take a shower with cold water, which was near the gym. After getting dressed, I turned everything off and walked out of the F building.
"Now I should go to the lunchroom. Good thing I went there regularly with my sister these past months, so I already know the way."
Without further ado, I set out on my way to the dining hall.
