"Thanks, Diko. If you don't wake me up, I might wake up later today and definitely get scolded by Bang Romi."
"You're welcome, Roy, let's have an assembly. Bang Romi will be mad at us for being late for so long," Diko suggested.
Roy nodded and then walked with his colleague to a room on the second floor where every morning before work started, an assembly was always held among the office OBs.
"Good morning Bang, sorry we're late," Diko said to the man who was standing in front of several fellow OBs who were lined up in a row.
"You're almost 10 minutes late, where are you from?" asked the man who was suspected of being the leader of the OBs in the office.
"This is because I woke up late Bang, Diko woke me up and waited for me in front of my room until he also joined in being late for the assembly this morning," Roy said.
"Late? It's only your second day working in this office and you're already late for the assembly."
"I'm sorry, Romi, I promise I won't do it again."
"Okay, go line up and join the others."
Romi, who turned out to be the most senior figure and was trusted as the leader of the OBs in the company office, seemed to give orders.
Like the previous day, the OBs again received instructions before doing their jobs, one of which was to maintain discipline at work.
As OBs, they were required to come and work on time, especially in Cindy's company office which was considered one of the big companies in the city.
Luckily for Roy that day he only got a reprimand from Romi.
And out of all his OB colleagues, only Diko didn't have a problem with the incident yesterday afternoon when Roy accepted Cindy's invitation to have lunch outside.
During the lunch break, Roy invited Diko to have lunch together at a restaurant located not far from the office.
"I'll treat you to lunch, okay, Diko?" said Roy.
"No need, you just started work so I'll pay for it later," Diko refused.
"No Diko, if it's just to pay for lunch today I can. Just think of it as a token of my gratitude, you went to the trouble of waking me up this morning."
Roy insisted.
Before starting work as a janitor in the office, Cindy did give him a daily allowance even though he had refused.
That's why Roy dared to treat Diko to lunch together even though he hadn't been paid yet.
In addition to expressing his gratitude for his colleague's kindness, Roy also thought that Diko was indeed different from his fellow janitors.
"Oh yeah, you also know that yesterday afternoon Mrs. Cindy invited me to have lunch outside?" Roy continued.
"Hmmm, yeah. How was it, was it fun to be invited to lunch with Mrs. Cindy?" Diko smiled then asked back.
"That…"
"Actually, it's just normal, in fact it's more fun to eat at a simple restaurant like this," Roy answered without the slightest hint of joy at being treated by Cindy yesterday afternoon, instead he felt uncomfortable because of it.
Diko was surprised by Roy's attitude, who was not at all surprised to be invited by the CEO of the company where they worked. "Really? Doesn't Mrs. Cindy always have lunch at a fancy restaurant?"
"Yesterday afternoon, Mrs. Cindy invited me to a fancy restaurant, but to be honest, besides being uncomfortable eating there, I also felt that because of it, people in the office were making a problem of it."
"Blaming how?" Diko asked curiously.
It seemed like he didn't know or didn't want to know that his fellow OB colleagues were gossiping about Roy.
"Someone asked what the relationship was between me and Mrs. Cindy that I was invited to have lunch outside, even though I had just come into work."
Roy took a deep breath, remembering what happened yesterday.
"Huh, what's wrong with Mrs. Cindy inviting you to have lunch together outside? If it were me, it wouldn't be a problem. Who asked and made a problem of it, Roy?" Diko asked again.
"First, Dion, he approached me in the back room while I was cleaning. Then Mr. Yudi yesterday afternoon, when office hours were over."
"Strange, what made them make a big deal out of it!" Diko said while shaking his head.
"I don't know, maybe because I'm a new employee and then I'm considered to be treated specially by Mrs. Cindy. Even though I didn't want that at all, if I had rejected Mrs. Cindy's invitation yesterday it certainly wouldn't have been good either."
"Ah, don't pay attention to them, Roy. Maybe they're just jealous, because Mrs. Cindy has never invited her employees to lunch outside."
Diko seemed to have no respect for the attitude of the employees who made a big deal out of it.
"Yes, but I just feel bad. What do you think I should do?"
"What do you mean?" Diko asked back.
"Do I need to tell Mrs. Cindy about this, so that what happened yesterday won't be a big deal anymore? Because most of the employees in our office are not happy and always ask questions." Roy asked Diko for his opinion.
"I don't think there's anything wrong with you telling Mrs. Cindy, so that all the problems are clear."
"But I'm worried that Mrs. Cindy will scold them, Diko. If I just keep quiet, it's possible that this problem will drag on," Roy said, feeling uncertain.
"In my opinion, it's better for you to tell Mrs. Cindy. About them being scolded by Mrs. Cindy later, that's not your problem anymore, rather than you being confused by their attitude. Actually, I don't want to join in asking, but if I may ask, are you and Mrs. Cindy related?"
"Yes, you could say that," Roy answered casually, because he didn't know what to answer.
"Well, it's better for you to answer that you and Mrs. Cindy are related if someone asks you again later."
Hearing Diko's suggestion, Roy only responded by nodding his head.
However, his conversation with Diko made him calmer.
