It was only after a short while that Lenox finally came to his senses as he felt a hot sensation on his hands and only now did he remember that the coffee he had been holding was hot. This was probably why the lady tied her handkerchief loosely to his hands. He stared at the handkerchief and found himself smiling. Hè did not remove the handkerchief even though he knew that with the toughness of his skin the pain was negligible and probably it will only sting for a while. Lenox always had a high pain tolerance. He did not go for another cup of coffee as it would only waste much of his time standing on the same line again yet his plane was almost leaving. He boarded the plane and took his seat next to the window and sat quietly before he took out his laptop. He was soon absorbed in his work that he failed to notice when someone sat besides him. Coincidentally as if some being was pulling on some strings it turned out to be the same lady who had poured his coffee.
Elena kept telling herself over and over again that it was not worth it shedding her tears over someone who was unworthy of her. She truly felt that Kevin did not deserve all her tears now did he deserve her love but whenever she remembered all the promises they made; one that they felt would last forever and the plans they had for their future, she felt a stabbing pain in her heart and she subconsciously let her tears gush out from her eyes like a broken dam. Her heart was truly shattered to pieces and even till now she was still lost in her own thoughts. For his sake she had disappointed many and had given up a lot for him and now like the prodigal son she was heading back home with nothing but a broken heart. At this moment she truly felt like the song arcade was playing itself over and over in her mind.
Just as she was still lost in thoughts,she saw a white handkerchief and subconsciously reached out for it before using it to wipe her tears." Thank you,"Elena said as she returned the handkerchief ." Welcome Mrs. You seem to be on a bad mood. Do you mind me poking my nose into your business?" Lenox asked with a smile on his face. Elena turned to stare at him with a forced smile on her face. Upon recognising Lenox as the man she had met on her way to the toilet she finally showed a change of expression." Am sorry for the incident back there," Elena said." Don't mind it, it was nothing. I am Lenox Patrick and it is out of habit for me to be addressed as sir so just keep it simple. Patrick, Pato or Lenox whichever suits you," Patrick said." Am Elena Kerryne Qin," Elena said as she shakes hands with Lenox." Well Mrs Elena you have a name that is worth gold so I wonder why your face is stained with tears and your eyes seem to only spell the word sorrow?" Lenox asked with a smile." It is a long story ," Elena replied." Time I guess is what we have right now," Lenox said as he closed his laptop and stared curiously at Elena ." I prefer not to talk about It," Elena said." Okay. I already guessed as much. Since you don't want to speak then I am allowed to guess?" Lenox asked.
Even Lenox himself could not understand but the lady before made him feel like he was a different person and his behaviour was also somehow off. Although it was their first time meeting but it felt like he had found something which he had lost. It was subtle yet a somehow nagging feeling that he wasn't used to ." Mrs Elena the plane is not even a quartet past its journey so we still have about thirty two hours and I guess you are not sleeping any time soon so how about a game?" Lenox asked with a smile." Which game?" Elena asked showing a bit of interest." A game of chess," Lenox replied." What are the rules?" Elena asked causing Lenox to smile.
"For every wrong move, you will tell me your story and if I make a wrong move ask me anything you want," Lenox said confidently as he opened his laptop again and opened the chess app." Sure," Elena said confidently as she wiped the tears off her face. Elena was confident in her skills when it came to chess as she was once a champion in high school and had also participate in many chess tournaments and won so even though she was feeling low she believed in herself.
"Wait. First things first I don't play chess with a depressed face so you have to change that and no shedding tears," Lenox said as he made the first move leaving no room for objection. She forced herself to smile as she made her move. She easily won the first two rounds by a narrow margin but as the game progressed she started being on the defensive side as Lenox's skills were on a different level exceeding her expectations.
Left with no alternative she could only watch as she was trapped and defeated." Now I think you should start your narration," Lenox said with a smile as he stared at Elena. She couldn't refute him as she had already promised him." Sure," Elena said and was about to start speaking when Lenox told her to pause for a while asking hee to breathe in and out." Wait."" What is it now?" Elena asked." I forgot to ask for a popcorn. Lenox bargained with one of the hostess and she agreed to bring him two packets of popcorn. Lenox received the two popcorn with a smile on his face as he took one and opened then gave the other to Elena. Seeing his cute expression Elena couldn't help but smile as she felt Lenox warned to watch a movie rather than listening to a story. Nevertheless she still narrated her experience while Lenox watched her with a smile enjoying the popcorn and the story. Elena soon joined him in eating.
