Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

Patrick and Kerryne have been moving from shop to shop in order to buy clothes for Kerryne. Kerryne was so absorbed in shopping that she barely noticed that time was fast moving and Patrick was already beginning to regret not listening to his mother when she told him to not take any girl shopping if he was busy or else he will end up stranded. By the time the duo finished their shopping it was already late in the evening. After the shopping , Patrick took Kerryne to the park for a walk and to get her mind off some stressful events. The two strolled around the park like kids buying ice creams and sometimes running around. The sun had already set when they finally decided to call it a day and Patrick decided to drop off Kerryne to her home. On the way Kerryne was tensed and worried as she didn't know how she was going to explain to her parents about her break up with Kevin as they were so attached to Kevin that they even considered him as their son especially due to his kind and harmless nature.

"Kerryne, you will have to learn to face the truth even when you don't want to. You might think that making a series of lies to receive people is good but think about the fact that onè day they will eventually know the truth but not from you instead from a complete stranger. It will definitely hurt more than it hurts now. The truth is painful especially if you can't accept it but once you accept it you simply have to move on," Patrick said with a smile as he held Kerryne's hand." You don't understand. They always took him as their son," Kerryne replied." You gave him your heart and he broke it so you felt the pain more than them so if you handled the truth then tell them the truth. I think we have arrived," Patrick said as he stopped the car. Kerryne took in a deep breathe before hugging Patrick before whispering thank you to his ears and then she alighted from the car with all her shopping.

Patrick saw her enter through the gate before he also left. On the way Patrick couldn't stop thinking about Kerryne and their interaction and it was also at this moment that he realised he had forgotten to ask for her number. 'Well, forget it. I'll ask her about it when we meet again,' Patrick said inwardly as he drove to his home. As the third prince of the wolf empire, Patrick lived in an old castle,of course, this was based on the exterior but when one entered into the castle it was a whole different story. The castle was huge and well decorated on the inside. There were many rooms inside the castle which Patrick enjoyed all for himself and with his old friend from the wolf forest, the Wolf king who had long decided to live with him. He had a caretaker, Alfred who was inacharge of taking care of his castle and tending to the needs of the wolf king when he was out on official business.

Alfred was also his personal guard and a confidant of his as he knew some of his secrets of course the ones which he made known to him. Patrick reached the castle when it was almost midnight after a long journey as he had to make a few detours. Upon reaching the castle he was welcomed by Alfred who took his luggage with a smile on his face." Welcome back, sir. I hope you enjoyed your trip?" Alfred asked." The journey want on well much to my expectations,"Patrick answered with a smile plastered on his face. Alfred did not dare to ask more as he led Patrick inside the castle. Patrick carried the groceries while Alfred carried his luggage. Although Alfred was his caretaker he rarely cooked anything for Patrick as his cooking smile could best be described as terrible in a single word so Patrick always did his own cooking . This was one of the reasons. The other reason was probably that Patrick was too paranoid.

"Sir Patrick, the crown prince is in the palace and he has been waiting for you since yesterday evening," Alfred reported as Patrick was making his way to the palace and for a moment he stopped in his tracks before nodding his head." Why did he come to my place? Where is he right now?" Patrick asked in a cold tone as his smiling face disappeared and he now seemed to be a different person." Am I not welcomed in your place?" A voice said from inside the castle as a handsome man walked out of the castle with a carefree smile on his face ignoring Patrick's cold expression which made him look as if someone owed him money." I am just afraid that my castle cannot host your humble presence so it is best if you leave as soon as possible," Patrick said in a sarcastic tone but he made no attempt to hide the hostility in his voice as he stared at Ezekiel, the crown prince. Ezekiel did not care about any of this or rather he was used to it.

"You don't have to care about that. I will only be staying for a maximum of two weeks and once am done with what I am supposed to do then I will leave,"Ezekiel said with a smile as he stared at Patrick with a smile." Two weeks it is then. You can use the rooms downstairs but let me not find you upstairs or I'll forget about the fact that you are my half brother and I will make sure to deliver your head to that stupid emperor," Patrick threatened in an icy tone as he even released a bit of his aura." As you wish. Before I forget Leah asked me to deliver a message on her behalf. She is waiting for you back at home. You should make time to go back home as aunty misses you, " Ezekiel said with laughter." That's none of her business and it should be the least of her worries. I will go back when I want to," Patrick said as he placed the groceries in the fridge before putting on an apron.
