Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Dominating the Dark Woods

Chris approached the entrance to the forest, the Dark Woods was its name. Low-tier beasts dwelled in the forest and were quite easy to take down for newly awakened people.

'Ok, here we go. This shouldn't be too hard, with the help of my summons this is going to be a piece of cake.' Chris thought as he entered the Dark Woods.

Trees with bark that was shaded a deep black tangled in his vision, the glow of the moon barely illuminating the dark forest. Chris moved through a few trees, the air cold and crisp, biting at his skin as he didn't wear a jacket, making the night really cold.

His eyes darted around at his surroundings, his hands twitching in anticipation of a suprise attack. He hadn't ever fought before, not even previous life. This was going to be a new experience for him, both as a person and a magic awakener.

A few minutes passed as he began to walk deeper into the forest, he had been searching for a monster to test his Skills on, but his search ended in vain as he couldn't find one.

'Honestly, i don't know why they warn us to not come here. There's not a single monster in these woods.' Chris complained internally, turning back to head home.

'!! A-ah!' Chris gasped inwardly, his eyes widening in shock and fear.

Infront of him a large pack of dark skinned wolves stood, their eyes gleaming with a shiny gold colour. Their musky breaths seeping through the gaps of their sharp jaws.

Chris took a step back, trying to add some distance between him and his enemies. But just as he did, the monsters took a step foward, not letting him escape from their grasp.

Realization settled in as Chris knew he messed up, the reason why no one was allowed to enter here, was because the monsters were really intelligent.

Even if they were relatively weak and easy to take down individually, a whole pack was nothing Chris could handle, he would get torn to shreds and eaten alive.

Chris considered bolting away, but stopped himself as he remembered the power he holds. Something much more powerful than ordinary magic, his fear faded and was soon replaced with excitement. A smirk appearing on his face.

'Oh, you dogs are done.' Chris said as he lifted his hand, golden flames coverering it whole as it spread onto the ground and 10 Skeletons emerged. Their bony frames eminating with power as their stats were multiplied by 10x.

The wolves shrieked in fear as they gazed up at Chris and his undead summons. Their husky bodies trembling in fear.

Chris examined them, they were called Dark Hounds, their average stats were 6 and they were level 2 monsters. They didn't possess a skill but would pose as a threat to newly awakened magic users, but not Chris though.

Chris chuckled in amusement as he walked up to the Dark Hounds, his Skeletons following closely behind him.

The beasts took a step back with every step Chris took towards them, one of them bolted away and soon the others followed. Each one scattering in different directions of the forest, trying to lose Chris and his minions.

A wicked grin appeared on Chris's lips as he crossed his arms, he took a deep breath and closed his eyes before commanding his Skeletons.

"Kill them." He said in a icy tone and immediately the Skeletons nodded and burst into different directions with quick speeds.

Sounds of breaking branches and rattling bones echoed through the forest, the once terrifying domain of beasts, now felt like it belonged to him. A sudden chime got his attention, the systems sound echoing in his head.

[Chris has slain Dark Hound! +10 Exp(x10) +5 Soul Points(x10)]

[Chris has leveled up! +2 stat points(x10)]

The notifications came pouring in one after the other, he realized that his skeletons were slaughtering the Dark Hounds.

He couldn't even begin to fathome how powerful his skeletons were, it hasn't even been a minute since the wolves ran and now were mercilessly being slaughtered.

Sounds of whimpering howls of pain echoed through the forest, the skeletons doing their work and killing them with a moments notice. When the onslought ended, the skeletons returned, blood dripping down their bones as they walked up to him and kneeled.

'Holy crap, this guys are truly terrifying!' Chris thought, swallowing nervously.

He quickly remembered his leveling and opened his status to check his new growth, his heart skipping a beat as he laid his eyes on the amount of Stat Points amd Soul Points he had accumilated.

Chris stared at the system in disbelief '100 Stat Points? 500 Soul Points? This is insane!' Chris thought internally. Just a minute ago he was a level 1 magic user, and now he already at level 5.

His [Blessing Of The Death God] was truly a overpowered talent that makes life easier for him. He shook his head, and focused on distriputing his Stats equally.

Chris felt a strong warmth flow through his body as he took a deep breath, he could feel his bones becoming stronger, his mind becoming sharper and his senses enhanced.

He still had 4 left over stat points and decided to invest them all into Intelligence, which would increase his potency with magical attacks.

[Stats]

[HP: 116] [MP: 116]

[Strength: 18] [Defense: 17]

[Agility: 19] [Intelligence: 30]

[Stat Points: 0]

Chris smiled at his upgraded stats, before entering this forest most of his stats were below 10, but now they increased more than twice. He could feel a sense of accomplishment and pride burn in his chest.

'Now then..' Chris thought as he glaced at his Soul Points, he still didn't know what he could do with them. With no other option to turn to, he called out to the system.

"System, what could i do with Soul Points?" He asked and system chimed before giving him information.

[Soul Points: Gained from enemies slain, can be used to upgrade Skills, exchange for Stat Points, and buy new Skills and Items in the Shop]

'Interesting..how many Soul Points do i need to exchange for 1 Stat Point?' He asked the system.

[100 Soul Points= 1 Stat Point] The system explained.

'I see..' Chris stroked his chin in amusement.

Chris examined his [Summon Lesser Skeleton] skill, realizing the potential for even greater power. His fingers itched to make the upgrade.

"System, how many Soul Points do I need to upgrade my [Summon Lesser Skeleton] skill?" he asked.

The system responded with a chime.

[Upgrading Summon Lesser Skeleton to Level 2 will cost 300 Soul Points.]

Chris smirked. "Easy enough."

Without hesitation, he confirmed the upgrade. A surge of energy shot through him, filling his body with the dark essence of necromantic power. The system chimed again.

[Summon Lesser Skeleton has been upgraded to Level 2. Skeletons now possess enhanced stats. Host is now able to summon 2 skeletons.] (X10)

Chris smiled at the upgraded [Summon Lesser Skeleton] Skill, realizing with the help of his [Blessing Of The Death God] Talent he could now summon 20 Skeletons. The Skeletons average of Stat of 10(x10) now became 20(x10), making their new average stat 200.

"Hehe, this is great!" Chris laughed, but his excitement was interupted by a sudden message of the system.

Chris blinked at the Task rewards, a surge of excitement coarsing through his veins.

He knew this was a golden opportunity presented to him, he would get a ton of Stat Points and Soul Points for doing this, and there was no penalty to it either, plus the benefit of getting a new Skill was too great to resist.

"Yes!" Chris accepted excitedly.
