Samuel, Gary and Donovan quickly strolled through the streets of the academy. Taking the more quiet and unseen roads to reach the golden gates. The other two appear to have forgotten where the gates were located. But Donovan remembered. He led them through the buildings, and onto an open field.
The green luscious flora brushed lightly against the wind. A sweet aroma filled the air as the three admired the view. This was prettier than they remember. Over in the distance, a gate stands tall. Gleaming under the radiant shine of the sun among the cloudless azure blue sky.Samuel admired the view, wondering how their life would be on the other side of the gate. But then he remembered again. Probably shit. If Rovanne knew about their reputation, then surely the other students would have known. And chances are, they have a superiority complex.
While the three admired the view, they remained oblivious to the crowd forming behind them. Only then when they finally grasp a good view of the gate, did Samuel notice the crowd. He's surprised that he didn't see them earlier. Maybe he was so entranced by the view that he temporarily forgotten to be wary and focused.
"Guys. Behind us." Samuel nudged on both of his friends.
Donovan turned around, "Oh? Quite the crowd we had attracted."
The shouts started. Ranging from insults, berating the three, and half-hearted complaints are what makes up most of the shouting. Donovan seemed unbothered by this. Samuel disliked it, but Gary? Bad news.
"What the hell is all this?! Why are you three here?!" A familiar voice shouted from the crowd. It was of a kid they usually fought with. Johnathan was his name.
"Like it or not, we rose up the ranks! S-class now bikkja!" Gary shouted back at the crowd.
"Gary-why did you...Oh god..." Samuel palmed his face. The crowd became even more riled up, the complains doubled in response to Gary's words.
Donovan seemed to be enjoying the chaos happening. Before stepping infront of Gary, catching a stone that was thrown at Gary, "Uh uh!" He wagged his finger, "No you don't!"
He landed firmly on his feet. Tossing the stone up and down his hands as he spoke, "Now which one of you here threw it?! This is not the eighteen hundreds! Which one of you huh? You? You! I knew it was you, Malcolm!" He wrapped the stone in a soft gelatin. A soft whisper conjured the gelatin to form on the ball. This is to turn the stone softer, so it won't straight up kill the child. And he reeled back and threw it back at the crowd. Causing them to disperse.
Samuel couldn't believe what was happening. Nor does he have the energy to stop it. He tried before, and it was too mentally draining. He was like an old lady trying to manage a Pitbull and raging bull at the same time.
His friends remained oblivious. But not Samuel. As he turned around to see the gates grind open with the help of gears. A gleaming shine seeped out from inside. A single boy stepped out of the gate. A strapping young one. A stern and confident expression settled on the young boy face. He seems to be similarly aged with the other three boys.
He runs his fingers through his brown hair, before he turned to Samuel, "These your friends?"
"Yes. Don't hurt them. I all but drained any energy left for dealing with them." The boy nodded, before turning back towards Donovan and Gary. He slowly stepped towards them.
His presence is spotted by the crowd, and they slowly begin to die down in sound. Donovan caught onto this immediately, holding his hands up a bit before stepping back. "All yours. Good luck." Donovan nodded his head towards Gary. Gary is still oblivious. Gloating in the fact that the crowd had shrunk and had been silenced. Not knowing that it wasn't him who silenced them. The boy raised his foot and stepped on the air; His foot remained in place as he lifts his other foot up. And it too remained locked in the air. It's as if he is walking up invisible stairs to reach the height of Gary.
The boy reached out to Gary, he placed his hand on his shoulder "Stop. This ends-Shit!"
Gary immediately spun around and swung his arm in a horizontal motion. The boy narrowly dodged it by an inch. He landed on the ground with a soft thump. Taking up a stance immediately.
"You little rat..." A grin formed on Gary's face.
"Can we not? I really don't want to fight." The boy inspected Gary up and down.
"Nah, I want to. Never had a good one for a long time..."
"Gary no..." Samuel tried to sway him away from fighting. He should have left that for Donovan, but he's not going to.
"Gary yes!" Gary lunged forwards with impeccable speed. Surprising the boy as he narrowly dodged his punch. Black markings slowly appeared from Gary's neck.
The boy hadn't anticipated how quick Gary would be due to his sheer size. And he had a feeling he's still holding back. So, it's best he finishes him off before he goes all out. The boy jumps in the air and bundles raw magic into his fist, before slamming it against Gary.
It connected, but not in the way the boy would have wanted, Gary had caught it with his hands. He pulled the boy over his head and threw him away. But he manages to regain his footing soon enough.
"Damn..." He muttered.
"Oh come on! You're S-rank for a reason!" Gary exclaims, "Fight like one!"
Gary charged at the boy yet again. This time he was prepared, ready to jump back and blast him with magic. But to everyone's surprise, except for Samuel, Gary plunged his hands down against the brick floor below them, flipping the bricks towards the boy. Blinding him.
Gary used this opportunity to send a strong cross. The boy had to rely on his blessing this one time. His eyes flashed a light blue, before his head jerked away from Gary's fist in an instant. He grabbed Gary's arm and uses his momentum to land a kick right on Gary's jaw. Sparks of magic shatters the air as his leg impacted Gary.
Gary retorts with a headbutt right towards the boy. Sending him falling to the ground. A visible bruise is left on Gary's face from the kick. He gives the boy a quick nod of approval, before jumping towards him again.
The boy jumped back again a short distance, before boosting his legs in the air. Moving above Gary. He raised his leg up high and slams his heel on the back of gary's head. The same shattering sound ripples through the air. Causing Gary to roll his eyes into his skull. And fall forwards unconscious. Blood dripping from the area of impact.
"Ooh! Brutal!" Donovan laughed.
"Jesus..." The boy dusted himself as the crowd cheered from a distance, "Damn psycho..."
"That's Gary for you." Samuel said.
Donovan walks forwards, clicking his tongue, "Well...impressive display from you mate. Never got your name. May I ask for it?"
"I'm...Matthew. Matthew Halcom." He answered.
Donovan shaked his hand and giving him a smile, "Well Matthew, we must inform you that...Gary gets up from being knocked out very quickly. Example..."
Something grabbed Matthew's leg. In the next second, he's lifted up in the air. Gary's eyes seem wild and crazy, his appearance further amplified with the blood dripping from the back of his head."You little rat! That was a nice trick you pulled!"
"The shit?!" Matthew panicked.
"But I'm not done! To Ragnarök with you! you-HURK!"
A purple strand of magic wrapped itself around Gary. Sending him tumbling to the ground. Letting him drop Matthew down. He scurried to his feet and took out a stance, before resting as soon as he saw the magic color.
Samuel turned around, still watching his friends from a distance. He sees Rovanne appear from the gate, causing his heart to skip a beat. She looks prettier than he remembered.
"Rovanne..."
She turned to him, a smile formed on her face, "Hey Samuel! Sorry for this, but he had to be restrained."
"Yeah I know...This is what you'll get from now on..." He scratched his head.
"I think we can manage. Love your sunglasses by the way." She points at Samuel's protection.
"Oh really? Thanks."
"You're welcome-"
"Ah! Bitch! You let go of me this instant!" Gary shouted as he wriggles on the ground.
"Hey!" Rovanne turned to Gary, "Don't be going out calling people a bitch!"
"I don't care! Let me go!"
Donovan chuckled as he pulled gary to his feet. Matthew taking a few steps back just to be safe. Donovan muttered a few words in Gary's ear, and it seemed to calm him down, "No worries...He's tame now."
"Can't take my chances still..." Matthew said.
"I can understand." Donovan leads Gary back to the gate. Matthew following from behind after he shooed the rest of the crowd away.
"God Damn...How tall are you?" Rovanne asked in awe as Gary got closer.
"Six foot seven..."
"Huh?"
"Two-hundred five centimeters." Donovan cleared up the confusion, "He's tall, I know."
"Well, come in." Matthew ushered the four inside. Samuel watched as the gate closed behind them. Sealing them away from the other side as a green aura surrounds the gate. Forming into three green locks that chains the gate.
"Rovanne. Matthew. What's the status?" A voice spoke.
The two of them ran upfront. And got into position. Standing up straight and saluting towards someone, "Elyssia! Everything's fine! We had brought in the three newcomers!" Matthew said.
A tall woman approached, roughly the same age as everyone. With green eyes that commanded respect. With a soft touch of gentleness inside. With a gentle and radiant face that seem to interlock with a furrowed and serious face. And to top it all of, a noticeable scar reaches from her left eyelid down to her lip.
"Are you sure? The tall one is bleeding from his head." Elyssia points at Gary, "What happened?"
"Gary attacked me." Matthew said, "I had to try and subdue him. If Rovanne wasn't here, I would have been in a worse shape."
Elyssia eyed the three newcomers cautiously. Noticing Donovan holding a restrained Gary. With Samuel sheepishly next to them.
"Why did you attack him, Gary?" Elyssia asked.
"Had to see what people like you are capable of. And I'm mostly satisfied." Gary answered.
Donovan butts in, "In other words, he just wanted to make sure if the security force lived up to their name."
"And you are?"
"I'm Donovan. This is Samuel." He pointed towards his sunglasses wearing friend.
Samuel waved back sheepishly. He is never the type of person to be so extroverted and outgoing compared to Donovan. He just wants to remain at the back. Watching. Instead of out there speaking like Donovan.
"You know of our security force?" Matthew asked Donovan, "How?"
"I have my ways. Right now, I do know that there's only four of you in it. How dreadful is that? Needing to go around this whole area, check every crevice and corner of this place to make sure no one is misbehaving and that nothing can get in. Doing all that with only four people must be tiresome."
Elyssia stared at Donovan with a suspicious look on her face, he returns it with a cheeky smile. She leaned in closer to him, "What are you suggesting?"
"Why don't we join the security force? Seven is better than four. Don't you think?" Donovan proposed.
The three S-rank students stared at each other. Contemplating on what to do. Gary and Samuel stared at Donovan, silently wondering and asking the same thing, 'What are you planning?' But Donovan replied with a confident face. Answering the question non-verbally with 'Don't worry. trust me.'
"We'll see about that. Just know that it might be hard for you to be taken seriously. Most of the kids here don't respect you three. They know of your reputation, and they aren't happy you're here." Elyssia turned around facing the building Infront of them, "Right now, let's have a word with the headmaster. he had requested us to escort you three to him."
