"Oh shi-!" Samuel reacted immediately, barely catching the spearhead in his hands right before piercing his face.
Before he can take a second to realize what just happened, he saw an onslaught of weapons and magic spells hurling toward him. Donovan pulled Samuel behind him and held out his hands. He was muttering an incoherent hiss. A black and white circle with runes on the edges appears in front of him. It blocked the spells and weapons that were thrown at him.
Gary caught a hurling spear right before it collided with the circle. He crushed it in his hands as he ensured the other two were safe.
"Huh. You're stronger than we expected."
Samuel peaked out from Donovan's shoulder to see the whole class had stood up, some with magic circles around their arms or on their hands. But some had throwable weapons ready at hand. A single boy sat with his legs crossed in the middle of the auditorium class. Long blonde hair levitates by itself as magic surges through his body.
"That was very welcoming don't you think? You could've killed one of us..." Gary hissed.
As they argue, Samuel spotted Aziroth in the top corner of the room. Watching them but not participating. Samuel focused his attention back toward his attackers, "If that spear throw killed that sunglasses boy, then he doesn't deserve to be with us."
"You little shit..."
"Enough Gary." Samuel said, "I'm fine. Really. Just let it go-"
"Just stay back Sammy." Donovan muttered. Samuel could see the hints of a silver shine from within Donovan's mouth.
"Listen to him." The boy said, "It won't be wise fighting here and now. You three against all of us."
Gary and Donovan shared a look. Before Gary scoffed and took a stance, "I'll take my chances."
Without even thinking, Samuel pulled out an object from his pouches. Ready to use it just in case things go wrong. The tension slowly rises. Donovan's tongue can be seen flicking out his mouth every so often. Samuel can hear the low whispers of spells being chanted. Barely reaching the final incantation before use. Small hints of a slithering black mark move through Gary's body. Being more noticeable by Gary's neck. It's happening. Gary and Donovan are using their blessings. No. Not now. Not here.
Samuel is glad that the sunglasses hide his eyes, or else everything would have gone to chaos as soon as he activated it. The door creaks open beside them, Samuel takes a peak to see who it is, only to find a middle-aged japanese man with a long black robe and black hair stepping into view. At first, he had a plain and tired expression. As soon as he saw the events about to unfold, his face changed.
The man tried to say something, "No-"
Before he could finish his word, Gary leaped forward and Donovan shouted out a bundle of hisses. Samuel activated his gadgets. Multiple strings erupted from his hands and wrapped itself around Gary and Donovan.
The strings silenced Donovan by covering his mouth and restricting his movement. While doing the same to Gary. Pulling him away from the blonde boy before he could kill him.
The students tried to take advantage of this, but the man held out his hands. A barrier formed in between the students and the trio. Blocking and canceling out the spells that were shot out.
"Enough you two!" Samuel shouted with desperation.
Gary and Donovan let out a jumbled mix of muffled shouts towards the other students. While the students shouts back from the other side of the barrier. The blonde boy tried to say something, but the barrier shot out a band that silenced his mouth by wrapping a golden band over it.
"That is enough!" The middle-aged man yelled. Samuel put two and two together and figured out he was the teacher of the class, "I will not have such chaos ravage through my class! Consider this my final warning to all of you, if something like this happens again, you will regret it heavily!"
He turned to the trio. With a less angry but more disappointed face, "And you. You will answer me now. What is the meaning of all this?"
"I'm a bit busy sir!" Samuel said, while still trying to maintain and prevent Gary from escaping.
Donovan managed to pull down the bindings on his face, he's calmer now. Finally thinking with his head, "I'll calm Gary down. I swear, just loosen me up a bit..."
"I'll trust you..." Samuel loosened the strings around Donovan. Donovan crawled up to Gary's ear and whispered something. Effectively calming him down and stopping him from squirming around too much.
"He's docile now." Donovan said.
"Hmph. And all of you. Put away your weapons and turn off your magic. Class will start soon." The teacher said. They didn't respond immediately. Only when he commanded them with a single 'Now' Did they listen to him and settle in their chairs.
He puts his hands down. Effectively turning off the barrier he had set up. Samuel lets go of his friends and lets them stand up on their feet and brush themselves off. Gary continues to stare daggers at the long-haired boy.
The teacher sighed and walked up to the trio before turning to face the class, "Now. I want everyone here to welcome these three to your class with open arms. Not with daggers and spells. Am I clear in that matter?"
"Yes, Mister Kiro." The class said in unison with a contemptuous voice.
"Good. Now, I want you three to introduce yourselves."
"With pleasure." Donovan walked in front first, "Now that my friend's life isn't threatened at all. I can finally introduce myself."
The student watched in disdain as Donovan did a bow, "Donovan Cuana. I hail from Ireland if you haven't noticed."
Gary took a step forward, his towering size still put the other students at unease, "Gary Skorrson. I'm from Norway..."
"And what about the boy with the sunglasses?" Mister Kiro asked, "What is your name?"
Everyone turned to Samuel. Who stood behind his two friends. Just watching in a trance. Only when Donovan elbowed him lightly did he snap out of his trance. Realizing what he had to do. He nervously walked forward. He can see it. He can see all of them. And their murderous intent. But he can sense a string of fear and desperation from within one of them. It's small but noticeable. Who could it possibly be?
It's only when Donovan elbowed him a second time did he snapped out of his trance again, "Uh...Samuel. Samuel Silva. Brazil..." Samuel said while looking away.
"Well. Everyone. I'll want you to welcome them with open arms. As I said before. I will not tolerate any hatred or grudges against one another in my class." Mister Kiro said. He then pointed to three empty seats on the second top floor of the classroom. Right in front of Aziroth, "I'll need you three to sit over there. And we'll begin with our lesson."
"Right away sir!" Donovan leads the way up to the seat in a slow and languid manner. Gary makes Samuel go second. They head up the stairs and sit on their corresponding arrangements. Donovan leans back on the chair as he ignores all of the death stares. Gary didn't seem to care. But Samuel is visibly shaken.
Donovan turns around to face Aziroth, "Heya man!"
Aziroth narrowed his eyes, "Don't talk to me." His attention then focused back on a book he was reading.
The other two stared at Donovan. And he just shrugged it off. Soon the lesson starts. Samuel still can't let go of that string of fear he can sense. 'Why should someone be afraid?' he thought. Something within tells him to keep note of that fact.
Mister Kiro opens the blackboard and grabs a chalk. 'A bit old-fashioned' Samuel thought, "Now. Let class begin. Now, I need someone to answer me...What is the difference between magic, and a blessing?"
