Emily and Fenrir left the store, having found what they were looking for. Along the way, they discovered two freshly dead bodies, each with a pair of nice boots.
They robbed the corpses of their boots and backpack with essential in them like food and water. With the socks Emily stored in her backpack, they wiped their feet with a cloth. Then wore them.
Emily took the knee high boots, and Fenrir took the normal one's, which seemed to surprisingly pair well with her maid cosplay costume, which Emily still found ridiculous. But she chose the right to remain silent than make Fenrir upset.
At least she had remembered to make sure Fenrir wore her undergarments, underneath the maid clothes before they left the store.
"Master!"
"Yeah, I know, something is watching us, probably the thing that killed this poor girls. But though I'm confident in our skills, it's best not to antagonise just anyone with impure thoughts, got it?"
"Yes, master."
"Good, let's go."
As they walked away from the prying eyes of the thing that was watching them in the shadows. And had seemingly disappeared Emily thought back the the corpses. There was no way those girls would survive this long alone, she had figured they must have a group with them.
'They probably separated when they were attacked.'
But it wasn't the reason why Emily was curious about the corpses. What made her curious was when she appraised them, the system showed her their stats, from when they were alive.
Both girls had a Symbiosis system, and both of their werewolves had disintegrated when they died.
'But one thing is bothering me though, we weren't really far away from the corpses, yet they both died without making the slightest noise, not even their werewolves managed to howl, how it that possible? That's the curious part.'
Emily looked at her side, "Fenrir did you hear anything I didn't manage to, something that had to do with the dead girls we just found?"
"I did hear something master, but I didn't tell you, because I assumed it had nothing to do with us. And I thought you might not like me telling you about every little detail of everything I hear." Fenrir replied with a guilt-ridden face
'Well that's true, why would I bother to care about every single human who falls in mortal danger, especially since they have nothing to do with me? Good work my cute maid.'
Emily cleared her throat, and asked, "tell me what you heard?"
"I think there were three of them talking about.." she eyed me. "Human things, I didn't really understand. When suddenly there was a fight, which ended swiftly, and there was a strange sound, not exactly werewolf but definitely not human. And then it disappeared."
"Let me get this straight, what you're telling me, is that, there were only three humans. And only two died, what happened to the other one?"
"I do not know, I'm sorry for being incompetent, next time I'll do better," her eyes suddenly flashed with determination.
Emily shook her head, and patted Fenrir's head, while she thought about what Fenrir just told her. Her story didn't make sense unless the killer took the third girl or it was the third girl who killed the two girls in the first place.
Her first theory would mean a werewolf was targeting the third girl in the first place, but what would a werewolf want with a human beside to feast on it. Then it could only mean a strong human was the one who attacked the girl using his/her werewolf.
The second theory made less sense because like Fenrir said, the sound the killer made wasn't human. One could argue that the girl used her wolf, but with the other girls with their own Symbiosis beside her, it unlikely to have ended swiftly fight like Fenrir said.
'Then that only leaves...'
Emily didn't get to finish her thought process when she picked up the scent of humans up ahead, at least five of them. Four of them had werewolves on top of the buildings, hiding—waiting for their chance to strike.
Normally she would move forward, and ignore those people, but she was looking for a human settlement, and if this people she was going to meet brought her there, why not go with them? Provided they will trust her and Fenrir to someone like that.
'I can only hope they do not try to kill me.'
"Fenrir let's just wait for them here?"
Fenrir looked at her, confused, "why master?"
"Well... to make them our friends? You understand what friends are, right?"
Fenrir nodded, "I understand, but why would we be friends with humans, aren't they our enemies?"
'Fenrir the red moon's taint is showing.'
Emily was suddenly worried Fenrir might just attack humans unprovoked.
"Not all human are our enemies, so don't go attacking every human you see, understand?"
"Yes master."
The humans now saw them, and were walking towards them cautiously. Some took stance and the leader radiated some odd energy that was invisible to the eye, but Emily's and Fenrir's nose were too sharp not to notice.
Emily felt Fenrir becoming restless and vigilant beside her. Emily took this time to appraise the one who she assumed to be the leader of the bunch.
[Golden Moon Symbiosis System:]
Name: Phil Jackson
Symbiosis: Grey-Eyed Werewolf - They are from the Grey family, and in terms of strength they are weaker than the red-eyed werewolves and less cunning than the brown-eyed werewolves. But they have an extraordinary ability to harden their pelt. Which makes their defences one of the best.
Metamorphosis: Stage 3
Symbiote: {Single Title:}
-> Malicious Intent - An invisible aura, that will attack anyone with any malicious intent towards host.
{Stats:}
Raw Strength: 3,312 lb
Pure Speed: 70.04 mph
Nerve Reaction: 30ms (milliseconds) - Host's reaction time is three times better than that of a frog. How sad.
Lunar Storage: 0.2118 cubic feet.]
"Fenrir don't worry, they aren't a threat," Emily immediately stopped Fenrir from being vigilant because of this man's Symbiote. It's a little annoying.
'A Symbiote that attacks with the slightest aggression towards the host.. how dump is that?'
Emily wondered how someone could get such an unlucky ability? Just being cautious might land this guy in trouble if he were to meet someone without an appraisal like her.
Fenrir stopped reacting to the approaching humans. And regarded them with an air of nonchalance.
The humans stopped ten steps away from Emily and Fenrir, their werewolves were slowly approaching them from behind. They were being sandwiched.
The one Emily assumed to be the leader stepped forward. He was cleaner than the previous human Fenrir killed, but he had the same look, as he did. He was dangerous.
"I will first warn you, the last person who commented on my eyes didn't last long. So I hope you won't attack me unprovoked, because I will kill you all."
All the group's faces hardened, whilst the leader unsuccessfully tried to hide his true feelings. He stopped five feet away from them.
"Believe me when I say, we aren't Fiends, we don't attack indiscriminately, so worry not. I just want to ask you, if you have seen three girls by any chance? About the same height as you, two of them were pale skin, while one them was bla—"
"You bitches what did you do to them?"
A rather stout older man, with a full beard accusingly pointed a finger at the shoes they were wearing. His body was trembling like a coward he was, but his eyes flashed with so much hatred.
Before Emily could do anything to stop Fenrir, she was already before the fat man, in a blink of an eye. And had lifted the man by the throat, and before anyone had any idea of what was going on, his neck had been snapped broken.
Emily could only managed a single thought, 'It wasn't exactly Fenrir's fault, right?'
